The Cot Girek Palm Oil Mill (POM) Unit of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara-1 adheres to high-quality standards in order to meet the company’s objectives. According to the study’s findings, there is still many data on the quality levels of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) that exceed the upper limit of the standards set, such as in 2019, the average free fatty acid (FFA) content of 3.59%, moisture content of 0.26%, average free fatty acid (FFA) content of 3.65%, and moisture content of 0.27% in 2020. Meanwhile, CPO impurity levels remain within the company’s control limits. The purpose of this study is to prioritize actions to increase CPO quality. According to the findings of this study, the raw material of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) containing free fatty acids and high moisture content with an RPN value of 504 is one of the elements that reduce CPO quality levels. Furthermore, the equipment at the continuous clarifier station, pure oil tank, oil purifier, and vacuum dryer do not operate efficiently, preventing them from effectively separating water, impurity, and CPO with an RPN value of 448. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

After China, the United States, and Nigeria, India is the leading producer of groundnuts and oil. On 20,000 acres, Konkan groundnut yields 1,800 kg ha-1. Konkan has an abundance of groundnuts. Leaf spots are the most influential biotic factors on groundnut yield and quality. Depending on the timing and conditions, both leaf marks can result in losses exceeding fifty percent. This disease inhibits photosynthesis by causing leaflet abscission and severe defoliation [2]. Image processing methods based on artificial neural networks, back propagation neural networks, support vector machines, and other methods. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models are most frequently used for plant disease diagnosis in agriculture due to their superior computation and precision [3]. Utilizing convolutional neural networks and artificial neural networks, a disease detection model for groundnut early leaf spot caused by Cercospora arachidicola will be developed. © 2023 IEEE.

The small-scale Horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) is presently being used for environmentally friendly power plants, and is found to be affordable at pretty low costs. The system uses aerodynamic blades (airfoils) fitted to a rotor, which is either positioned upwind or downwind. Therefore, the analysis of increasing the performance of the HAWT is important for its overall capability. Based on these conditions, this numerical study aims to determine the effects of the angle of attackcharacteristics on blades ranging from 15–10°, using the NACA 4412 airfoil. This airfoil was applied from the blade base (root) to the tip, against the torque and mechanical power of the turbine. The aerodynamic characteristics produced with the rotor diameter in the HAWT was 4,90625 m2 along the swept of 2.5 m, as the TSR (tip speed ratio) of 6 on the wind speed ranged between 3–7 m/s. The results showed that 0.32, 54.49%, and 150.9 W of the coefficient, efficiency, and average mechanical powers of the turbine were produced in the simulation process, respectively. This indicated that the mechanical power of the HAWT increased with higher wind speed. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

3D object detection enables mobile robots to operate effectively in real-world scenarios. To enhance the performance of 3D object detection without compromising inference speed, we present a novel 3D object detection method that leverages RGB-D images. Our proposed approach involves multiple stages. Firstly, we extract 2D bounding boxes from images and corresponding point clouds within frustums. Subsequently, the point clouds within the frustums are processed by a devised proposal generation module, generating bounding box proposals. Additionally, we leverage a refinement network to enhance the accuracy of 3D bounding box estimation. Our object detection framework requires minimal prior information and achieves a nearly real-time performance of 20 FPS while maintaining high accuracy. To validate the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conduct experiments on the SUN RGB-D 3D detection benchmarks. The results demonstrate that our approach outperforms other baseline methods regarding object detection accuracy, spatial complexity, computational cost, and inference speed. © Beijing HIWING Scientific and Technological Information Institute 2024.

Identification and categorization of monuments play an integral part in the preservation and documentation of cultural heritage, with research greatly improved thanks to advances in computer vision and deep learning methods. This work presents an innovative methodology for the identification of monuments using an altered ResNet-101 encoder-decoder architecture. This research employs ResNet-101’s transfer learning capabilities to extract relevant information from images of monuments. Subsequently, these extracted characteristics are fed into a decoder model, which produces a segmentation mask to accurately recognize monuments featured in any given image. Our experimental results illustrate that our proposed methodology achieves 95.8% accuracy compared to existing methods when applied to a standardized dataset of monument images. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Boom gate (parking portal), a tool that functions as an automatic barrier is usually used in parking areas, gates for office buildings, government buildings, police stations, hotels, toll roads, and other public places. The current parking barrier system cannot be separated from the controller system and electric motor as the source of electrical energy to move mechanical parts of the boom gate. However, the parking barrier system which are currently in operated, especially in the Sumatra region, still use an AC motor drive system;in some regions a hydraulic drive system is also utilized. The electricity to drive the system is mostly obtained from the national electricity company (PLN) electrical grid. So, in this study we design a mechanical system of automatic parking portal operated by a DC motor, instead of AC motors. From this study, it was found that the components needed by the boom gate to do the work of opening and closing the bars for 1.5 s, namely: DC motor 24V, 250 W, 2750 rpm, gearbox type 40 ratio 1:60, and sprocket ratio of 1: 4.5. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
