Photocatalytic reduction of CO2 technology is an important solution to environment difficulties. Due to the shortcomings of photocatalyst itself, such as weak response to light, it is necessary to improve the photocatalyst to adapt to industrialization. In this paper, the photocatalyst Bi2WO6 /g-C3N4 was designed and prepared by one-step hydrothermal method, and its photocatalytic performance was tested through the photocatalytic reduction experiment of CO2. Through the verification of various physical and chemical characterization methods, the excellent CO2 reduction ability of Bi2WO6/g-C3N4 composite photocatalyst was discussed. Due to the establishment of its Z-type heterostructure, this structure enhances the transmission speed of photogenerated carrier, reduces the recombination rate of electron hole pairs, improves the utilization rate of photons. © 2023 SPIE.

experimental and computational methods are employed in this study to examine how varying heat treatment temperatures and composition of Moo3nanoparticles, a transition metal oxide (TMO) impact the mechanical properties of PEDOT:PSS/MoO3 thin film blends for organic photovoltaics (OPVs) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) applications. The study primarily investigates the mechanical properties (hardness and Young's modulus), microstructure and surface morphology of solution-processed PEDOT:PSS/MoO3 ink blends of different compositions prepared at temperature regimes between 60 to 120 °C. Nanoindentation is used to investigate mechanical properties and Scanning Probe Microscopy to examine the surface morphological and microstructural changes. mechanical maps and statistical deconvolutions are used to show the distribution of mechanical properties and phases respectively in the PEDOT:PSS/Mo03 thin film blends at the different annealing temperatures (60-120 °C). The experimental and computational results lead to the conclusion that incorporating different percentages of Moo3into PEDOT:PSS can, depending on the blended ratio improve the microstructure, mechanical properties and surface morphology of the PEDOT:PSS/MoO3 blends. Lightly doped PEDOT:PSS/MoO3 blends (1:0.1, 1:0.3), generally exhibit improved surface morphologies, enhanced elastic modulus and hardness, suitable for applications in efficient and mechanically durable electronic devices. © 2023 IEEE.

Biomaterials encompass a broad range of tissue engineering methods that make it possible to produce materials that can be utilized to repair or replace damaged or missing parts of biological systems. The use of metallic biomaterials in medical implants is complemented by biocompatibility as a prominent aspect. Titanium (Ti) and its alloys are employed as promising implant materials due to their high strength-to-weight ratio and strong biocompatibility. The biocompatibility of Ti-based biomaterials can be improved by altering their mechanical and structural properties, which improves their interaction with the biological environment. Emerging research in advanced Ti-based alloy biomaterials is focused on creating implants with a low elastic modulus while still providing adequate mechanical strength. The major goal is to extend the biomaterial implant's lifespan or eliminate the need for revision surgery, hence improving the patient's quality of life. The present study focuses on Titanium based biomaterial developed with minor alloying elements such as Nb and Zr. Nb and Zr are non-toxic and mechanically sound materials for use in prosthetics. A computational strategy based on the finite element method is utilized to estimate the mechanical properties of the Ti–8Nb–12Zr alloy for biomedical applications. It is concluded that the Ti–Nb–Zr biomaterial with a dominant β phase microstructure exhibits a good combination of mechanical properties and biocompatibility for prosthesis application. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Traditional digital mining algorithms face difficulties in the face of large-scale charging demand and limited charging pile resources, so new methods are needed to optimize the arrangement of charging post. Aiming at the layout planning of charging post for new energy vehicles, this paper proposes a solution based on distributed algorithm. Based on distributed algorithm, the layout planning scheme of charging post for new energy vehicles can realize the reasonable arrangement of charging post, improve the quality of charging services, and optimize the utilization efficiency of charging pile resources under the premise of considering charging needs and resource constraints. Through the analysis of experimental and simulation results, the scheme shows good performance in charge coverage and service quality, and has high practicability and feasibility. The research results of this paper provide a new solution for the layout and planning of charging post for new energy vehicles, especially in the case of large-scale charging demand and resource constraints. © 2023 IEEE.

The lack of plants in multi-storey housing causes an increase in environmental temperature, causing global heat. Therefore, thermal comfort is not achieved for humans which will reduce the quality of life, to overcome this, air conditioning (AC) is used. However, due to the high ambient temperature causing an increase in the use of air conditioning which will cause electricity consumption to increase as well. One effort that can be done is to multiply hanging flower plants around multi-storey buildings. This solution is expected to reduce the environmental temperature around high-rise buildings. This study aims to determine the heat absorption by fifteen types of plants tested by the hanging method, so that it can be seen which plants are most suitable to be planted to reduce environmental temperatures. The plants tested were Devils Ivy (Epippremnum Aureum), Purple Heart (Tradescantia), Ant Bag (Discida Geri), Velvet (Gynura Aurantica), Purple Zabrina (Trandescantia Zabrina), Paperomia Hope, Spider Lily (Cholorophytum Comosum), Purple Spider Lily (Trandescantia Spathacea), Nerve Leaf, Anthurium, Pigeon Feet (Altheantera Ficoida), Creeping Charlie (P. Nummularifolia), Candle Flower (Begonia), Zebrakraut, and Episcia. From the results obtained indicate that hanging flower plants affect the decrease in environmental temperature. The most effective among the mentioned hanging flower plants on absorbing heat with the hanging method are Spider Lily (Chlorophytum Comosum). © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

One of the problems causing low quality of essential oils is the high content of solvent resulting from traditional extraction process employing low purity metallic components. This extracted oil therefore requires further process to improve the patchouli alcohol content of the oil by removing unwanted components. One of the process is by mixing the oil with bentonite and zeolite. In this study, a sieve shaker is designed to be used at an integrated equipment for patchouli oil refining process. In order to have a dynamically stable shaker, it is necessary to investigate the effect of various components for the stability, particularly the spring stiffness. The simulation was conducted using Autodesk Inventor using a one degree of freedom model. It is shown from the result that, for the defined condition, the sieve shaker shown a stable condition for the spring stiffness value at least 10 kN/m. Spring stiffness lower than the value could cause detachment of the roll follower from the cam, resulting in impact between the components. © 2023, The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In order to study the erosion behavior of gun barrel bore, a new type combustion setup was designed. The combination of some samples can be mounted in the setup as the outlet nozzle. Using this setup, gun barrel bore sample can be eroded by combustion gases. The erosion process was simulated by a finite element model with a erosion model which based on heat and chemical effects. The simulation results show that thermal concentrated at the land corner and strong erosion occurred. The chamfer on barrel land corner turn smooth after few firings. The experimental and simulation methods in this paper can be used to study erosion in gun barrel bore. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The generation of motion paths of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) is a critical aspect of logistics and unmanned factory production systems. Currently, researchers mainly enhance path smoothness in AGV local path planning by employing optimization techniques such as Bezier curves and B-spline curves. However, these methods often require high-standard site conditions or involve complex computations. This paper establishes a mathematical model for AGV curved path segments and its envelope lines of motion using polynomial curves with better comprehensive properties. The study combines theoretical analysis with experimental validation, demonstrating advantages such as smoother path generation, smaller turning radii, and simpler computational methods. In addition, parameters with better properties are selected to verify the correctness and feasibility of polynomial curves as motion control curves for AGV turning, providing a theoretical basis for active obstacle avoidance in AGV operations. © 2024 IEEE.

Maintaining the verticality (parallel to the gravity axis) of a centroid measurement turntable's rotation axis with high precision is challenging. Traditional methods for adjusting verticality are often complex and difficult to sustain over time. Current adjustment methods are not always accurate or sustainable, necessitating a more effective solution. In this study, we seek to derive the variations in the angle between the rotation axis and the plumb line of the turntable. In doing so, we intend to develop a practical method to eliminate linear errors caused by non-vertical axes. We derive a specific equation based on the relationship between the rotation axis and the plumb line and validate it through experiments. We introduce the concept of "vector balancing effect" and establish a method to eliminate linear errors caused by non-vertical axes. As an application example, we propose a measurement technique for determining the lateral centroid by evenly distributing three weights along the circumference. This method aims to eliminate system errors related to non-vertical axes in centroid measurements based on the gravity axis. In our tests, we successfully reduced the lateral centroid error from approximately 0.16 mm to about 0.03 mm, which is very close to the non-verticality of 0.12 mm. This method provides valuable insights for achieving precise vertical axes in traditional experimental turntables. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.
