Cryptographic hash functions are fundamental to secure digital interactions. This paper surveys one-way hashing, covering theoretical foundations, historical developments, cryptanalytic challenges, and widely trusted standards like SHA-2, SHA-3, and BLAKE2/BLAKE3. It also explores experimental designs and proprietary functions enhancing password protection, IoT security, and blockchain mechanisms. The study examines tensions between performance and security, classical versus post-quantum resilience, and theoretical rigor versus practical engineering. Hashing is both a mature discipline and an evolving frontier, poised to adapt to changing computational paradigms and sophisticated adversarial methods while meeting growing demands for data integrity and authenticity guarantees. © 2025 IEEE.

Achieving dynamic locomotion of legged robots in rugged terrains requires precise control of foot placement and collision avoidance. Currently, some advanced motion controllers utilize external perception information for foot planning in such scenarios, with foot-end obstacle avoidance methods typically relying on constructing Signed Distance Function (SDF) maps. However, this approach has limitations in terms of real-time performance and computational overhead. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel foot-end obstacle avoidance trajectory planning method based on elevation map information. This method eliminates the reliance on SDF maps and instead analyzes elevation map information to select optimal foothold points, compute collision gradients using local collision-free guidance paths, and generate smooth trajectories through a Cube B-spline curve optimizer. Compared to traditional methods that require the construction of SDF maps incurring computational costs, this approach significantly enhances computational efficiency. © 2024 ACM.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, advanced 3D scanning technology has shown strong application potential in mechanical manufacturing. 3D scanning has become a meaningful way to inspect mechanical workpiece parameters to save inspection costs and time costs in manufacturing. This article conducts an in-depth study on mechanical parts manufacturing optimization methods based on a high-precision 3D scanning system. This method can improve the accuracy and efficiency of parts manufacturing and provide new solutions for quality control in the manufacturing process. 3D models are generated by 3D scanning mechanical components using the OKIO EP device. Based on the software Geomagic, reverse engineering and comparison of the existing 3D machining models of mechanical components were performed to obtain the mechanical components' scanning model and machining errors. Therefore, it achieves the optimization of mechanical parts manufacturing. © 2024 SPIE.

This research investigates the enhancement of low-cost sensor performances using data-driven approaches by deploying models directly at the edge. An experimental setup, consisting of a bridge model and a vehicle equipped with a smart sensor, was used to scan the bridge deflection and reconstruct the mid-span displacement caused by the vehicle passage. Two data driven models have been compared to find the best performing to be deployed at the edge. The findings demonstrate that incorporating physics-related features into the training process improves both model accuracy and computational efficiency on microcontrollers, significantly reducing the required computational effort and processing time. Moreover deploying algorithms at the edge offers greater flexibility within an IoT infrastructure, facilitating efficient information exchange between smart sensor nodes, gateways, and the cloud through wireless technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates voltage fluctuations in grid-tied Photovoltaic (PV) systems, employing advanced methodologies within a 10 kW experimental setup that incorporates SunTech STP330-24/Vfw panels, an Advanced Power Electronics Inverter, and real-time monitoring, supported by MAT-LAB/Simulink simulations. Robust data collection utilizes real-time monitoring, data loggers, and a power quality analyzer, with calibration against simulated outputs. The integration of smart inverters, advanced control algorithms, real-time monitoring, energy storage, grid-interactive power electronics, and Hardware in the Loop simulation showcases substantial enhancements in power quality, stability, and response times. Key findings include minimal voltage fluctuations (0.25 V), a power quality index of 0.92, and rapid response times (12 ms). Comparative analyses validate proposed methodologies, emphasizing implications for heightened reliability, potential widespread adoption of advanced PV technologies, and informed policymaking for cleaner energy. This study makes a significant contribution to renewable energy goals, with suggested avenues for future research focusing on adaptability, buffering enhancement, iterative testing, and economic feasibility assessments, ensuring the continuous evolution of resilient and eco-friendly energy solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the prediction of magnetization surfaces in Switched Reluctance Motors using three distinct methods: classical Neural Networks, Radial Basis Function networks, and Physics-Informed Neural Networks. The study utilizes experimental data from a 7.5 kW SRM to assess the performance of these approaches, with all methods implemented in Python. Among the methods analyzed, PINN demonstrates the highest accuracy in predicting the magnetization surfaces, effectively capturing the underlying physical behavior of the motor. The computational costs of each method are evaluated, providing insights into training times, inference speeds, and floating-point operations per sample. The findings reveal that while NN offers a reasonable balance between performance and efficiency, the RBF method excels in training speed but shows limitations in capturing the physical dynamics of the system. In contrast, the PINN not only delivers superior predictive performance but also emphasizes the significance of incorporating physical principles into machine learning frameworks. The results highlight the applicability of these methods across various types of SRMs, suggesting their potential for enhancing control strategies in electrical and power engineering applications. © 2024 IEEE.

To address the error problem caused by the coupling of in-plane object pose estimation, this paper proposes an image moment-based planar object pose estimation, which simplifies the computational process by adding a virtual rotation process of the object plane and achieves a closed solution by completely decoupling the rotational and translational components of the interaction matrix. On this basis, a control scheme based on a monocular camera is designed to verify the results of the in-plane object's positional estimation. The experimental results show that this method can realize the exponential decrease of the error of the plane parameters and the velocity of the object, and the velocity of the object is stable and has good robustness. © 2023 IEEE.

Friction stir welding is used for a few things like mechanical, biomedical, aerospace, fabricating, and nuclear innovation. In this process, two standing-up workpieces are joined together without the need to dissolve the composites. The process of scouring between the material of the workpiece and the rotating device, which loosens the material in the vicinity of the device, produces heat. Gadget dares to make a solid stage joint that is energized along its entire length. The Inclination Point, Turn Speed, and Travel Speed are the main welding constraints that were considered in this examination. Information explains what's happening the aluminum composite's strength and hardness are noticeably diminished when the joints are present. By virtue of the force created by the linking framework, this can be shown to represent an over-development of the aluminum composite. Normal T6 warming exercises, however, restore the mechanical characteristics of the aluminum-Aluminum joint. This demonstrated the viability of FSW for connecting metals that are both related and dissimilar. The construction of top-notch welds and the weld's mechanical characteristics are the foundation of this job. © 2023 IEEE.

3D printing, or additive manufacturing, has revolutionized various industries, particularly in healthcare where it facilitates the creation of personalized medical solutions. However, achieving biomimicry, especially in anatomical models, remains a challenge due to the mismatch in mechanical properties between synthetic polymers and biological tissues. This study aims to bridge this gap by reviewing the mechanical properties of human anatomical tissues and investigating analogous properties in 3D-printable polymers. Using a combination of literature review and experimental methods, the study focuses on anatomical structures such as bones, skin, and cartilage. Four base polymers with distinct mechanical characteristics are blended to create nine different polymer compounds, which are then subjected to compression and tensile tests. Results reveal varying mechanical properties across the polymer blends, with some exhibiting promising biomimetic potential. © 2024 IEEE.

As the use of quadcopters becomes more widespread, the need for safe and timely quadcopter flight increases. In particular, operating a quadrotor in a cluttered environment presents the challenge of non-convex obstacles and safe flight trajectory generation. This paper presents two methods for generating the safe flight corridor (SFC) step in the three steps of quadrotor 3D trajectory planning, octree-based flight corridor generation, and inflated ellipsoid flight corridor generation, and verifies their superiority by comparing them with existing algorithms (RRT∗ based planning and IRIS) through an experimental method of computer simulation. Finally, the limitations of both methods are presented and conjectures for solutions are made based on the establishment and experimental validation methods of both methods. © 2023 IEEE.
