CNC machine is a machine that can operate automatically through processing commands performed by a computer. A machine is required for engraving concrete, that the engraving process can be faster and easier. The research is carried out to develop a concrete carving CNC machine. The machine components are grouped into two main parts, horizontal and vertical parts. The design of horizontal component includes analysis and selection of x table, y table, linear drive system, power screw, and motor. The design of the vertical component includes the analysis of the frame, and the spindle arm. Machine production begins with frame welding, spindle arm welding, crafting table, and component purchasing. Assembly begins with the assembly of the base and column frame, the table with its components, and the spindle arm and its spindle. Machine materials are selected from metal, wood and nylon. The workpiece used is concrete with a composition of cement and sand of 1:2. Workpiece dimension is 200 mm × 200 mm × 30 mm. The CNC electronic components are arduino, CNC shield, stepper motor driver and stepper motor. The accuracy of the machine was tested by comparing the results of machining the workpiece with the design on the computer. For testing the age of concrete, the highest accuracy value was obtained when the age of the concrete reached the value of 1 h. For testing patterns, small deviations were shown for testing the sides of each pattern, but slightly larger deviations for the experiment about 0 coordinates. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Heat and mass transfer equipment is the heart of many industrial applications in the thermal engineering. Apart from the driving potential difference, the system's overall process efficiency is steered by how these fluids interact. The interaction pattern depends on the type of heat exchanger used and employed based type of fluid, phase flow, density, chemical composition, viscosity and many other thermodynamic properties of interacting fluids. Augmentation in the heat transfer is one of the promising and challenging tasks in the thermal dealings. The increase in energy requirement and consumption has made this issue more crucial. Many researchers reported that methods of increasing heat transfer can be broadly classified into three major divisions as active techniques, passive techniques, and a combination of these two techniques i.e. compound technique. Active techniques involve the influence of fields such as electric, magnetic and acoustic. Whereas, in passive methods, additives are added to the working fluid or new surface textures are formed on the heat transfer surfaces. Nyborg, J Acoust Soc Am 25:68–75, 1953, [1] reported that under the influences of sound sources the fluid particles moves sinusoidal as well as forms patterns like steady vortices or time independently circulations in the fluid body. As high intensity sound projected into the fluid, it generates the effect of some kind of streaming in the fluid called as quartz wind. Aluminium alloy has major application in both areas such as automotive and aircraft industries. Aluminium alloys have gathered wide acceptance in the fabrication of lightweight structure requiring high strength-to-weight ratio. In this research investigation, FSP was used for fabricating the Al7075 alloys reinforced by Al2O3 + eggshell reinforcement particles. The tool rotation speed (TS: 920, 1585 and 2250), tool tilt angle (TA: 1°, 2° and 3°) and volume percentage reinforcement (RF: 2%, 4%, and 6%) are used as dominating parameters. The effects of these parameters on the mechanical properties of the Al composites are studies in details. Using response surface methodology to developed mathematical models to be significant in all three response parameters and to determine the significance of factors and their interaction for maximizing the mechanical properties. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Additive manufacturing technology holds significant promise in the pharmaceutical industry due to its flexibility and precision. Specifically, light-curing-based techniques like inkjet 3-D printing (IJ3DP), stereolithography (SLA), and digital light processing (DLP) offer high printing precision and are solvent-free. This enables the creation of complex drug dosage forms without concerns about solvent toxicity. Controlled-release dosage forms are increasingly favored for their improved patient compliance and reduced side effects. This study focuses on designing controlled-release dosage forms using these technologies, employing a prodrug strategy where drug molecules are bound to light-cured carriers via cleavable covalent bonds. The release rate is controlled by these bonds and the surrounding environment. Prodrugs suitable for light-cured additive manufacturing were successfully synthesised, including various drugs and cleavable covalent bonds. With the addition of photoinitiators, these prodrugs can be cured faster and have a high conversion rate under UV light irradiation. The cured drug-containing castings have different mechanical properties. These findings suggest diverse applications for drug-containing materials produced through this method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

With the increasing demand for sea treasures such as sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and shells in the market, the global aquaculture industry has been booming. However, traditional counting methods for these sea treasures in aquaculture have high labor costs, low efficiency, and large counting errors. This article proposes an object detection optimization algorithm based on the YOLOv7 network, which reduces redundant calculations and memory access time through pruning and quantization to improve the efficiency of extracting spatial features. The algorithm is deployed on the Jetson Nano edge device through the TensorRT acceleration framework to achieve real-time target detection of underwater sea treasures. The results show that the improved algorithm has a mAP of 83.5%, which is an 8.5% improvement over the original YOLOv7 model's 75%, while ensuring recognition accuracy and achieving fast inference on the Jetson Nano experimental platform. The inference time for a single image is 85ms, and the inference speed is increased fourfold, enabling rapid recognition of sea treasures. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

There are a lot of carbon emissions from cement which demands the usage of other alternatives as its replacement. Research is undoubtedly conveying crazy on the usage from claiming waste items to cement. Likewise, a reinstatement of characteristic sand. Because of that unreasonable utilization for waterway sand Likewise fine aggravator, the availability of the fine aggregate has become scanty. So, it demands the search for other alternative replacements for fine aggregates and cement additives that enhance the properties of fresh and hardened concrete like durability, strength, etc. In our study, we are going to experiment on the effects on mechanical assets of material by moderate replacement of cement by feldspar. Since Quartz is one of the greatest plentiful materials available on earth’s crust and being highly siliceous, these materials are being employed as additives for cement and fine aggregate. This study mainly concentrates on the assets of toughened concrete properties, which is the compressive strength of concrete. Here, cement is partially replaced using feldspar up to 25% at regular intervals of 5%. In addition to that, the river sand is completely replaced with quartz sand as fine aggregate. The object of research is reinforced concrete structures, under the action of cyclic loads;one of the types of destruction is the fatigue destruction of the working fittings. The mode of operation of steel reinforcement as a part of a reinforced concrete structure is non-stationary, regardless of the loading mode in these cases, determining the fatigue strength of the reinforcement requires a large number of experiments, which requires more financial and labor resources, developing an equation for changing the specific energy of steel destruction in the zones of formation and development of cracks;developing a methodology for calculating the durability of steel reinforcement with cracks. Theoretical studies of fatigue strength of steel reinforcement were carried out. It is established that the fatigue destruction of steel reinforcement is characterized by the formation and development of micro and macro cracks in the structure of the metal to critical sizes, two main stages are derived: before the formation of micro and macro cracks of fatigue;development of macro cracks of fatigue to critical sizes. To simulate the operation of steel reinforcement during regime cyclic deformation, methods of mechanics of destruction of elastic plastic materials were used;equations for changing the mechanical characteristics of reinforcement under various cyclic loading modes were obtained. The significance of the results obtained for the construction industry lies in the fact that the proposed calculation models can reduce the cost of conducting studies of fatigue strength of reinforcement up to two times, labor intensity up to three times compared to generally accepted traditional experimental studies. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Nitrocellulose is an important kind of energetic material produced by replacing hydroxyl of cellulose molecule to nitro, which has a wide application range in social life. During transportation and storage, inevitably the quality of the nitrocellulose will be affected due to external ambient heating. In this study, two kinds of NC samples, original and heated ones, were used as research objects and taken into DSC experiments under several constant heating rates to explore thermal history effects on its decomposition and combustion behavior. A series of calculation methods based on model fitting were main ways for research, so were model free methods. Numerical results by model fitting method showed that decomposition reaction of NC follows n-th reaction model. The comparison between experimental results of two kinds of samples claimed that thermal history had positive influence on heat flow, and increased the reaction order of decomposition process, and decreased the characteristic temperatures. So the thermal history made the decomposition reaction more difficult to take place and more stable. This study is obviously meaningful for the research of thermal pyrolysis process of NC after thermal history. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Liquid hydrogen (LH2), generated from renewable energy sources, is now a significant business to industries around the world. Control of the hazards is the key ingredient for ensuring the safety of hydrogen systems and thus becomes the main content of the safety requirements for storage and transportation of LH2 standards. This paper presents our ongoing work of developing a new methodology for 3D multiphase study in thermal and thermodynamics by using an open-source CFD code, OpenFOAM. In order to validate this model, simulations are evaluated with the comparison with the NASA LH2 experimental data set [4]. LH2 flows downward from the release point. After the heating of the air and the ground, part of the LH2 evaporates rapidly, and part of it forms an LH2 pool on the ground. The early stage is the diffusion of heavy gas, and then it becomes a buoyant mixed gas, which moves downwind and upward under the action of wind and buoyancy. Currently, we use the solver in OpenFOAM. The detailed settings, including boundary conditions, geometry, etc., are explained in detail. The simulation and experiment are compared in detail, and the most critical is the comparison with NASA's sixth experiment at the hydrogen concentration at 20.94 s. Through various comparisons, the validity of the simulation has been verified. Overall, the comparison of the hydrogen concentration profiles in experiments and simulations shows good agreement. Finally, the initial process of LH2 leakage is analyzed based on simulations.

The scenario analysis method is an important method to adapt to the optimal dispatch of power systems with a high percentage of new energy sources. As a hot research topic in scenario analysis methods, the significance of scenario reduction is to describe many complex scenarios that feature a small number of representative scenarios to achieve the purpose of reducing computational complexity. In this paper, a distribution network optimization dispatch method based on the hierarchical clustering algorithm for scenario reduction is proposed considering wind power output and photovoltaic output. Firstly, the original scenes are quickly categorized because of the hierarchical clustering algorithm to derive typical scenarios. Secondly, an optimal dispatch model of the distribution network containing renewable energy is established. Finally, the arithmetic example is verified by using the IEEE33 distribution network, and the experimental results validate the validity and superiority of the proposed scenario reduction method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
