Fires in tunnels have the problem of difficult detection and rescue. Thus, fire monitoring is crucial for prompt discovery of fires. Aiming at the problems of high false detection rate of traditional tunnel fire detection methods, a flame detection method based on Halcon and ResNet50 is designed. Gamma decoding is used for image preprocessing. The gamma decoding reduces the details of the dark part in the image and highlights the flame part. With the help of ResNet50 network, the flame after pretreatment is detected. The experimental result shows that the method has high recall and precision. This method provides an important reference value for the design of tunnel fire monitoring system. © 2023 IEEE.

Momentum analysis in tennis matches has predominantly focused on qualitative methods, lacking systematic quantitative approaches. This study proposes a novel method that integrates Gaussian dynamics models with machine learning techniques to quantitatively analyze and predict momentum changes in tennis matches. By selecting and defining key indicators such as serve success rate and scoring rate, we developed an algorithm to identify and predict momentum shifts. The proposed method employs ensemble learning techniques, specifically Stacking, to combine multiple machine learning models, enhancing prediction accuracy and execution efficiency. experimental validation using data from major tennis tournaments, including the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The results show that the Stacking model outperforms individual models in accuracy and robustness, providing scientific decision support for coaches and players. This method has low computational requirements, is simple to implement, and considers a wide range of variables, making it highly efficient. Future research will focus on further optimizing the model and applying it to other sports and match types. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Power generation through wind turbines (vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs)) is gaining popularity day by day as it is clean, economic and eco-friendly, however efficiency of VAWTs is always a matter of concern. Aerodynamic efficiency can be improved by using different types of blade profiles, mostly they are categorized as cambered and symmetrical. Most of the researchers showed that the camber of an airfoil causes an increase in velocity and a consequent decrease in pressure of the stream of air moving over the airfoil due to the increase in velocity it gets the maximum coefficient of lift. The main aim of this study is to compare performance parameters like Lift coefficient Cl, Drag coefficient Cd and aerodynamic efficiency (Cl/Cd) for NACA 4415 and NACA 0021 experimentally and computationally. For experimental study subsonic wind tunnel is used and to study computationally Ansys fluent analysis system is used. The parameters varied in this study are flow velocity and angle of attack. It is noticed from the experimental result that the maximum value of lift coefficient is higher for NACA 4415 as compared to NACA 0021 and stalling occurs at 16° for NACA 4415 and 18° for NACA 0021. It has been found from computational result that k-Ε is best-suited model among SST k-ω, standard k-ω and k-Ε models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This study addresses the critical issue of inter-turn short circuits in permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) within the realm of power engineering. It encompasses a thorough investigation, from examining prevalent fault detection methods to employing advanced computational tools for accurate machine modeling and simulation. The novel approach combines precise magnetic field modeling with established electrical and mechanical equations, yielding significantly higher accuracy compared to conventional methods. The computational models not only detect inter-turn faults but also allow for the analysis of ground faults, open circuit faults, and dynamic and static eccentricities. Results from simulations closely align with real-world values, affirming the efficacy of the proposed modeling approach. The study also demonstrates the feasibility of identifying non-axisymmetric faults through dynamic machine behavior analysis. Torque oscillations, resultant from imbalanced phase currents, emerge as a potential diagnostic tool for inter-turn faults. Additionally, phase current asymmetry opens avenues for fault detection based on sequence analysis. This research provides a robust framework for accurate inter-turn short circuit detection in PMSMs. By integrating advanced computational modeling with established electrical engineering principles, it offers an approach to fault diagnosis in these machines, addressing a critical concern in power engineering. © 2023 IEEE.

As an important course in mechanical engineering, it is necessary to carry out classroom lectures, experiments, and simulations in the form of large-scale homework based on scientific research projects in the course' Fundamental Control of Mechatronic Systems'. In this paper, a typical ADAMS model of the mechanical system has been established, and through the joint simulation with Simulink, the tuning of PID control parameters has been carried out. Then the intrinsic correlation between PID control and mechanical parameters has been revealed, and the intrinsic relationship between the nature of PID control methods and each parameter has been reflected. The simulation content is teaching, scientific, inspiring, innovative, and practical. It can inspire students' interest in the subject, deepen the understanding of the controller design teaching content, and enable students to design experimental content independently on this basis. Besides, it shows more practical for the equipment and site restrictions. © 2023 IEEE.

The evaluation of the dynamic response of cable structures is a topic of relevant interest for both researchers and designers working in the civil engineering field. For the implementation of reliable numerical models able to simulate the actual mechanical behaviour of such structures, the cable tension is a fundamental variable to be assessed accurately. This contribution describes methods and procedures aiming to enhance the reliability of finite element models in reproducing the dynamic response of a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge, through the fusion of static and dynamic experimental data from different technologies. First, the experimental evaluation of the cable static configuration has been used for identifying the cable tension. Indeed, by virtue of a low-order approximation of the catenary suspended cable model (obtained by a perturbation method), a cubic function of the cable static configuration under self-weight has been determined. In this formulation, the quadratic and cubic coefficients have been recognized as tension-sensitive quantities and have been used to analytically evaluate the cable tension. Then, traditional output only dynamic tests, under environmental noise, have been exploited to evaluate the reliability of the computational model of the bridge and to analyze the deck modes mainly involved in the dynamic behaviour. The subsequent manual model updating, targeted at reducing the difference between the experimental and numerical frequencies, showed higher effectiveness if the designed cable tensions are replaced by the identified values in the computational model.

In this paper, the theory and analysis methods of computational fluid dynamics, transient dynamics and other aspects are integrated, and FLUENT finite element simulation software is used to simulate the shock wave signal in two different environments, namely, plain and plateau. The transient dynamic response results under the action of shock wave are obtained through numerical simulation, which provides an effective reference scheme for the operator's protective measures, and provides a reliable theoretical basis for the placement of surrounding equipment and the selection of environment, and reduces the additional damage caused by the experiment. © 2023 SPIE.

Semi-global stereo matching (SGM) algorithm is widely adopted in stereo matching due to its optimal trade-off between accuracy and efficiency. However, SGM exhibits limitations in accurately matching weak texture regions and entails high computational complexity. The present paper proposes a novel enhanced SGM algorithm by integrating the CT cost and BT cost, aiming to address this issue. Initially, the anti-interference capability of Census transform is improved by setting a standard deviation threshold. The fused weights of the Census cost and window-based BT cost compensate for insufficient image information. Subsequently, an 8-channel dynamic programming algorithm is utilized to aggregate costs followed by a winner-take-all approach to compute disparity values. Furthermore, a weighted least squares filter optimizes the disparity map. Finally, the proposed algorithm's anti-occlusion performance and matching accuracy are evaluated using the Middlebury dataset. experimental results demonstrate that our proposed cost calculation method outperforms CT cost and BT cost in terms of anti-interference performance significantly when compared with both SGM algorithm and AD-Census algorithm. © 2024 SPIE.

Accurate classification and segmentation of brain tumors are crucial in medical imaging, yet they present significant challenges, particularly in resource-limited settings with limited data and computational power. This study tackles these issues through two primary strategies: adaptive data augmentation and lightweight neural network models. Adaptive data augmentation improves the diversity and quality of medical images using techniques such as geometric transformations, intensity adjustments, and synthetic data generation. By customizing these augmentations to specific tumor characteristics and imaging conditions, this approach enhances model performance even with smaller datasets. To facilitate real-time tumor classification and segmentation while minimizing computational demands, we developed lightweight neural network models. These models utilize streamlined architectures, including depthwise separable convolutions and attention mechanisms, achieving high accuracy and efficiency, making them well-suited for deployment in low- resource environments. Additionally, quantization and pruning techniques effectively reduce the size and complexity of the neural networks without compromising performance. experimental results indicate that these methods significantly improve segmentation accuracy and classification precision across various MRI datasets. This research underscores the potential of adaptive augmentation and efficient neural network designs to provide advanced diagnostic capabilities in resource-constrained settings. Future work will investigate the integration of these techniques with federated learning and explainable AI to further enhance reliability and clinical applicability. © 2025 IEEE.

This study explores the use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in surrogate modelling for solving the torsion problem of elastic bars with arbitrary cross-section profiles. The conventional approach to solving this problem, the finite elements method (FEM), is computationally expensive and time-consuming, limiting its use in real-time applications. To address this, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), a deep learning technique that has shown success in various domains is used. By training CNN models on datasets generated using FEM, this study bypass the FEM process and efficiently obtain the desired stress information. Further, a comparative analysis of different CNN architectures are done to obtain the optimal trade-off between accuracy and efficiency. This study adds to the expanding collection of literature exploring the application of deep learning methods in the field of computational mechanics. © 2023 IEEE.
