In the research area of the Dynamic Flexible Job-shop Scheduling Problem (DFJSP), real-time responsiveness to disturbances and solution quality are the key factors of dynamic scheduling performance. Traditional methods can not offer ideal dynamic scheduling performance as they either lack real-time responsiveness to disturbances or sacrifice solution quality. In contrast, scheduling methods based on Reinforcement Learning (RL) allow the agent to interact with a dynamic environment and update the scheduling strategy in real-time, resulting in high real-time responsiveness and strong adaptability. However, relying solely on dynamic decision-making experience will limit the quality of the solution. Therefore, this paper proposed a novel Dual-Phase Adaptive Learning Framework (DPALF) that introduces a pretraining phase with Imitation Learning (IL) to equip the decision-making agent with the static scheduling capability before RL in the disturbed scheduling environment. experimental results show that introducing the pretraining phase improves learning performance and enhances the stability of the formal training process. Additionally, the proposed method outperforms three representative RL methods in solution quality, proving more effective for real-time dynamic scenarios. © 2024 SPIE.

The cure-induced deformation (CID) significantly influences the final quality of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. It is essential to ensure the deformation within specification by cure optimisation, of which the key is to construct the efficient predictive model between the cure cycle and CID. Conventional numerical methods require well-meshed grids and fine-grained time steps, resulting in an expensive computational cost. Furthermore, data-driven methods have shown great potential in building surrogate models to accelerate the massive forward evaluations. However, their remarkable performance depends on massive labelled data. Therefore, this paper proposes to anticipate the cure-induced deformation of carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites based on transfer learning to reduce the data requirement of data-driven methods. First, sufficient simulation data are gathered as the source domain and are utilized for training the source model. Then, a parameter-based transfer learning method is introduced to obtain the final target model by finetuning the source model utilizing a limited amount of target labelled data. Finally, the validation numerical experiment is conducted on a case of CFRP aircraft skin. The results show that the proposed method based on transfer learning can significantly reduce the amount of target labelled data by 90% compared to the original data-driven method. © 2024 SPIE.

Most of all the real world engineering applications are connected with differential equations, which has become complex to compute analytically. Paper discusses the efficient way of computing such partial differential equations (PDE) by means of numerical methods. Comparatively with various emerging numerical methods, finite element method (FEM) makes the task of computation achievable with accurate results irrespective of its drawbacks like computational cost and time complexity. Artificial neural networks (ANN) are the one's combined with FEM to make the work more feasible in solving irregular boundaries and to achieve appropriate results. Write up describes the complete importance of FEM based ANN for solving boundary value problems and shows us a glance of solving a PDE and also explains the computation of inverse problems that are considered to be ill-posed for the coefficient approximation. Finally the paper deals with the applications of FEM based ANN techniques in robotics. Essay explains the importance of these methods in developing kinetic and dynamic models in designing a soft robot for its movement and operation as well as its importance and uses in the practical scenario compared to rigid robots. Finally paper presents the stress and strain analysis of the generated CAD model of a robotic hand in FEM softwares like COMSOL and ANSYS. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a method to study the reliability behavior of the ACEPACKTM SMIT, which is a top side-cooled power module employing high-voltage silicon MOSFETs in a half bridge topology. The experimental test involves power cycling: this is an accelerated stress test, which allows monitoring a temperature-sensitive electric parameter to study the thermal behavior of the package. The efficiency of heat exchange between the module and the cooling plate surfaces is strongly influenced by the thermal interface material (TIM) used between them. TIM is designed to fill gaps and voids between two surfaces, in order to to increase the effective contact area and improve thermal conductivity at the interface. In this work, the thermal performance of two different TIMs, a thermal grease and a phase change material, will be analyzed. The aim of the paper is to provide an experimental approach for characterizing the reliability behavior of power modules, considering the thermal behavior when different TIMs are considered. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In recent years, the virtual reality technique has been widely used in many fields. One of the most popular applications is for generating virtual models that can be operated on the screen. In the paper, three methods of obtaining virtual models are introduced. One method is by scanning the quick response code. Another method is the use of CADbro software. The third way is to develop an app to help the digital world emerge in real-life scenarios. With the help of virtual technology, ways of teaching, modes of production, and film production are changing. The three methods mentioned in the paper make it easy to generate virtual models for people to operate on mobile devices. Virtual models generated by the three methods can be operated by touching the screen or operating the mouse, whenever and wherever. © 2024 The Authors.

This paper addresses the challenges of target occlusion and the difficulty in detecting small underwater organisms due to the behavioral characteristics of underwater fauna. An improved YOLOv5 algorithm for underwater target detection is proposed to enhance performance in underwater environments. Firstly, YOLOv5 incorporates the Coordinate Attention module to further enhance feature extraction. Secondly, a BiFPN (Bidirectional Feature Pyramid Network) is employed to better integrate features of different scales. Finally, a DyHead (Detection Head based on attention mechanism) is added for target detection. experimental results on the URPC2020 dataset show that the improved YOLOv5 network achieves a 1.7% increase in mAP@0.5 and a 1.1% increase in mAP@0.5-0.95. The parameter count of the improved YOLOv5 network only increases by 5.5%, with a computational overhead of 5.6%. Therefore, the proposed approach demonstrates superior performance in underwater target detection tasks. © 2024 SPIE.

This paper proposes a novel method for detecting object sizes in images. Traditional methods have limitations due to image quality, which affects detection accuracy. To address this problem, a new approach is proposed that combines Zernike moments and deep learning models. This approach combines the strengths of both methods and overcomes the limitations of traditional approaches. The proposed approach improves the accuracy of object size detection and is robust to image noise and distortion. experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach, which outperforms existing methods in terms of accuracy and robustness. © 2023 SPIE.

The Automatic Identification System (AIS) offers an extensive database for maritime research. However, the raw AIS data often contains redundancies. Utilizing this data directly leads to inefficient use of storage space and higher computational demands, necessitating the implementation of data compression. In this paper, we propose a simplification method for ship circular trajectories based on a classification strategy to improve the accuracy of trajectory compression and the ability to retain important feature points. Aiming at the problems that the Douglas-Peucker (DP) algorithm may miss the port feature points and insufficient retention of the feature points of multi-turn paths when dealing with circular trajectories, this method firstly classifies the trajectories initially according to the ship's speed, and then further classifies them finely according to the ship's orientation, and the fitness function is introduced in the compression. Through this classification and compression strategy, port characterization points and turning feature points can be effectively identified and retained. experimental results on real datasets show that this method outperforms traditional methods in terms of average azimuth error and compression accuracy, and is able to better retain important trajectory features. © 2025 SPIE.

High-pressure gaseous hydrogen cylinders have been the mainstream onboard storage technology for hydrogen energy vehicles because they offer the benefits of high energy storage density while maintaining low cost. However, the temperature inside the carbon fiber composite cylinders will rise sharply during the hydrogen charging process because of the throttling effect, which affects the mechanical properties of the composites and leads to an insufficient state of charge (SOC) and other problems. This work presents the establishment of a numerical model that describes the rapid filling progress of 35 MPa hydrogen storage cylinders. Important evaluation criteria of the cylinder, namely the state of charge (SOC) and temperature rise, have been analyzed in relation to the filling rate and other parameters using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method and thermodynamic analysis methods. The theoretical analysis results, which are consistent with the outcomes of the CFD simulation and experimental analysis, offer the theoretical foundation for the controlling strategy of the filling rate of the gas source from refueling stations and hydrogen temperature. This consequently lowers the energy demand for hydrogen refueling stations to invest in hydrogen pre-cooling. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The springback of laterally compressed thin-walled tubes is an important issue, which affects the prediction of tubular structure energy absorbing ability and the final sectional profile. So, the springback of laterally compressed tubes after plastic compression should be predicted and calculated in the process of the tube design. However, predicting the springback with traditional theoretical or experimental methods is hard. In the present paper, an explicit and implicit sequence-solving method based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA was developed for calculating and analyzing the springback of the tube under lateral compression by the code ANSYS LS-DYNA. The result implied that the explicit and implicit sequence-solving method is reasonable, and the values of the tube's springback after lateral compression can be predicted by this FEA method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
