The paper presents a computervision based system for automatic grading and sorting of agricultural products. The application of machine vision based system, aimed to replace manual based technique for grading and sorting of fruit. The manual examination makes issues in maintaining consistency in grading and sorting. In this research work, a method for sorting and grading of agricultural products like fruits has been proposed. The proposed system starts with catching the fruit's picture utilizing a digital camera. The acquired picture is then processed by using imageprocessing, sorted and grading using methods of fuzzy logic. The classification of fruit is depending upon the object size and shape. Similar shape-size fruit misclassification can reduce by utilizing extra image features, for example, texture and colour. The results obtained are very promising.

Epiretinal prosthesis is a biomedical implant technology currently being developed around the world in hopes of restoring useful vision for patients suffering from retinal degenerative diseases such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). Epiretinal Prosthesis System (EPS) consists of four parts that includes Body Worn image Processor (BWIP), Retinal Implantable Receiver Stimulator (RIRS), wireless telemetry and electrode array. images are captured by BWIP's camera and encoded into a 1 Mbps bit stream by BWIP. The bit stream is modulated on 8.195 MHz carrier and transmitted serially to RIRS through wireless telemetry. RIRS converts the bit stream into electrical pulses and drives 1024 electrode array to stimulate the survival parts of retina electrically with visual cues for understanding the video picture/image. This paper presents the design of flexible high resolution 1024-electrode embedded computer based EPS using embedded computer based efficient control algorithms for better visual prediction. Finally, the integrity of the EPS has been verified visually through video display on LCD/LED array. The experimental results of EPS are enumerated for the object of human face using 1024-electrode/pixel LED array.

Gaze estimation is the process of determining the point of gaze in the space, or the visual axis of an eye. It plays an important role in representing human attention;therefore, it can be most appropriately used in Human computer Interaction as a means of an advance computer input. Here, the focus is to develop a gaze estimation method for Human computer Interaction using an ordinary webcam mounted on the top of the computer screen without any additional or specialized hardware. The eye center coordinates are obtained with the geometrical eye model and edge gradients. To improve the reliability, the estimates from two eye centers are combined to reduce the noise and improve the accuracy. Facial land marking is done to identify a precise reference point on the face between the nose. The ellipse fitting and RANSAC method is used to estimate the gaze coordinates and to reject the outliers. This approach can estimate the gaze coordinates with high degree of accuracy even when significant numbers of outliers are present in the data set. Several refinements such as feedback and masking, queuing and averaging are proposed to make the system more stable and useful practically. The results show that the proposed method can be successfully applied to commercial gaze tracking systems using ordinary webcams.

Shadow detection and Shadow removal is major issue in computervision group. A large number of shadow detection and shadow removal algorithms are introduced for images but only a few researches has been done for moving objects. A novel method for shadow detection and removal is introduced using discrete wavelet transform by symlet wavelet transform. The multi-resolution property of DWT decomposes an image into four sub bands with no loss of the spatial information. Standard deviation divide by mean by symlet transform technique is proposed. The threshold point is self-executed. The proposed method is efficient and depends on symlet wavelet coefficients.

Feature extraction is an essential step in many imageprocessing and computervision applications. It is quite desirable that the extracted features can effectively represent an image. Furthermore, the dominant information visually perceived by human beings should be efficiently represented by the extracted features. Over the last few decades, different algorithms are proposed to address the major issues of image representations by the efficient features. Gabor wavelet is one of the most widely used filters for image feature extraction. Existing Gabor wavelet-based feature extraction methodologies unnecessarily use both the real and the imaginary coefficients, which are subsequently processed by dimensionality reduction techniques such as PCA, LDA etc. This procedure ultimately affects the overall performance of the algorithm in terms of memory requirement and the computational complexity. To address this particular issue, we proposed a local image feature extraction method by using a Gabor wavelet. In our method, an image is divided into overlapping image blocks, and subsequently each of the image blocks are separately filtered out by Gabor wavelet. Finally, the extracted coefficients are concatenated to get the proposed local feature vector. The efficacy and effectiveness of the proposed feature extraction method is evaluated using the estimation of mean square error (MSE), peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), and the correlation coefficient (CC) by reconstructing the original image using the extracted features, and compared it with the original input image. All these performance evaluation measures clearly show that real coefficients of the Gabor filter alone can effectively represent an image as compared to the methods which utilize either the imaginary coefficients or the both. The major novelty of our method lies on our claim-capability of the real coefficients of a Gabor filter for image representation.
