Generating a novel textual description of an image is an interesting problem that connects computer vision and natural language processing. In this paper, we present a simple model that is able to generate descriptive sentences given a sample image. This model has a strong focus on the syntax of the descriptions. We train a purely bilinear model that learns a metric between an image representation (generated from a previously trained Convolutional Neural Network) and phrases that are used to described them. The system is then able to infer phrases from a given image sample. Based on caption syntax statistics, we propose a simple language model that can produce relevant descriptions for a given test image using the phrases inferred. Our approach, which is considerably simpler than state-of-the-art models, achieves comparable results on the recently release Microsoft COCO dataset. © 2015 international conference on Learning Representations, ICLR. image enhancement is mostly expanding the perception of data in pictures for individual viewers and giving enhanced information to other image processing techniques. image enhancement is a digital processing method which does its best to improve image vision and makes the image adapt to be processed by computer. As well, the need for contrast enhancement also arises from the fact that current softcopy display devices are incapable of displaying as many different discernible levels of luminance as can be recorded in a digital image. It really enhances some information inside the image selectively and restrains the other ones. In this way, it is easy to detect and recognize useful information. It generally yields satisfactory results if the proper technique is selected for a given application along with the proper processing parameters. In the presented paper, first section gives a brief introduction to the image enhancement, the second section contains a brief literature about the previous work done and the third section contains proposed issue and related proposed method to enhance the image. The proposed system works by tracking the edges using ICA and PCA based filtering by firstly transforming the image into HSV domain and then applying the filtering and contrast change, after that the image is again converted to visible form and analyzed under PSNR, MSE and Standard Deviation.

vision based hand gesture recognition is an open research problem in Human computer Interaction (HCI). The most common form of gestures are signs used in different sign languages having both local and global motions. Recognition of these gestures require the hand trajectory both with respect to orientation in space among inter frames and distance among objects like face and hands among intra frames. In this paper, at first the face region and the two hand regions are detected. The centre of the face along with the centre of the two hands are then determined. This is then followed by tracking the hands trajectory following the centre both in terms of direction among consecutive frames as well as distance from the centre of the frame. The variations in the hand locations along with the centre of the face are considered for analysis. Finally the gestures are considered for recognition. The paper addresses a pertinent problem w.r.t the difference in the number of frames between a stored gesture and query gesture for matching. Experimental results show an accuracy of 86% in recognizing 24 gestures is maintained even after normalizing the number of frames by the proposed scheme.

image segmentation problem is a fundamental task and process in computer vision and image processing applications. It is well known that the performance of image segmentation is mainly influenced by two factors: the segmentation approaches and the feature presentation. As for image segmentation methods, clustering algorithm is one of the most popular approaches. However, most current clustering-based segmentation methods exist some problems, such as the number of regions of image have to be given prior, the different initial cluster centers will produce different segmentation results and so on. In this paper, we present a novel image segmentation approach based on DP clustering algorithm. Compared with the current methods, our method has several improved advantages as follows: 1) This algorithm could directly give the cluster number of the image based on the decision graph;2) The cluster centers could be identified correctly;3) We could simply achieve the hierarchical segmentation according to the applications requirement. A lot of experiments demonstrate the validity of this novel segmentation algorithm. (C) 2015 Published by Elsevier B.V.

With the success of new computational architectures for visual processing, such as convolutional neural networks (CNN) and access to image databases with millions of labeled examples (e.g., imageNet, Places), the state of the art in computer vision is advancing rapidly. One important factor for continued progress is to understand the representations that are learned by the inner layers of these deep architectures. Here we show that object detectors emerge from training CNNs to perform scene classification. As scenes are composed of objects, the CNN for scene classification automatically discovers meaningful objects detectors, representative of the learned scene categories. With object detectors emerging as a result of learning to recognize scenes, our work demonstrates that the same network can perform both scene recognition and object localization in a single forward-pass, without ever having been explicitly taught the notion of objects. © 2015 international conference on Learning Representations, ICLR. Frame duplication is a typical method of tampering surveillance video which replacing a video clips with the repetitive copies of one single frame to pretend a static scene in order to conceal some important events. The forensics algorithms based on the image content can hardly identify the forged clip from the video sequence of the static scene because of the high similarity of the frames in a surveillance video. While the tampering trace could be found in the parameters of the compressed video stream because the codec is quite sensitive to the slight different between frames even it's invisible. By investigating the stream parameters, the code rate and the residual are revealed to be the prominent parameters related to such tampering. This paper analyzes the characteristics about the stream parameters, and discusses the behaviors of the code rate and the residual in the tampered video. Then an algorithm is designed to identify the duplication of frames based on the values of bit rate and residual. The indicators based on the bit rate and the residual is constructed and a fused criterion is proposed to identify the tampered frames. The experimental results show that the proposed method can identify effectively the duplication for the surveillance within an acceptable running time. © 2015 IEEE.

Nowadays an increasingly wide variety of multimedia devices can be networked together in ever-growing smart environments. Although these networks, thanks to mobile technology and Wi-Fi, are almost ubiquitous by now, the players therein are still working largely distinct from one another. To simply play a file on the playback device A, which is originally housed on device B, is therefore a complicated task, despite the theoretical possibility provided by existing networking. Especially playing and viewing files on multimedia devices under various circumstances and limited reproduction capabilities is a non-trivial problem. Current solutions from industry still put little interoperable approaches in proprietary systems. Individual multimedia devices of the same manufacturer can be combined intelligently, but with respect to the usability the system scales poorly, the (also physical) distribution increases the difficulty of access to the functions and control is largely independent of the user's context. In this work, a solution is developed, which focuses in particular on the context-based playback of files: sending video, music, image and text files to output devices with different display options, as well as the distribution of these multimedia files between devices. Activities are centered on a mobile device for visualizing the spatial distribution of all devices, including the user's position and the intuitive movement of files of various types between them.

image segmentation is one of the most popular applications in contemporary computer vision and image processing field. In this paper, a novel segmentation framework is proposed based on Simple Linear Iterative Clustering (SLIC) and graph-based semi-supervised learning (graph-based SSL). With the SLIC approach utilized in the first stage, we get the anchor points which are SLIC clustering centers. Graph-based SSL method using anchor points and labeled samples are used to calculate category of anchor points, through which, the category of sample points is further determined. Experimental results show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.

The study of logic led directly to the invention of the programmable digital electronic computer. The theory of computation inspired us to consider the possibility of building an electronically intelligent brain leading to artificial intelligence. We have seen the 3rd generation smart phones and laptops with LED display having both resistive and capacitive touch technology. This paper presents a conceptual approach of controlling mouse movements, writing texts and sketching colored - images by simply making real time gestures in air with colored objects or colored finger caps without making any physical surface contact unlike the (Touch Technology). With the help of the artificial Digital vision we integrate image processing along with Gesture Recognition to generate a Graphical User Interface in order to acquire physical aerial gestures and plot 2-Dimensional curves onto the computer screen using a real time camera (computer webcam). The graphics or texts so generated on screen can be projected to a wall using a projector in a classroom which especially assists the 'lecturers with paralysed legs-who cannot write on a blackboard' or 'lecturers suffering from color - blindness or amblyopia'.

As image segmentation has become a definite prerequisite in many of the image processing and computer vision applications, an effort towards evaluating such segmentation techniques is indeed found very less in literature. In this paper, we carried out a comprehensive evaluation of five different gradient magnitude (GM) based image segmentation techniques using CBIR (Content Based image Retrieval). Firstly, boundary probabilities are detected using the gradient magnitude based techniques such as - Canny edge detection (pbCanny), Second moment matrix (pb2MM), Multi-scale second moment matrix (pb2MM2), Gradient magnitude (pbGM) and Multi-scale gradient magnitude (pbGM2). Further, Ridgelets are applied to these boundaries to extract radial energy information exhibiting linear properties and PCA to reduce the dimensionality of these features. Finally, probabilistic neural network (PNN) classifiers are used to classify and observe the performance of gradient magnitude techniques in classification process. We observed the performance of these algorithms on the most challenging and popular image datasets namely Corel-1K, Caltech-101, and Caltech-256. © Springer international Publishing Switzerland 2015.
