Multispectral image fusion is a kind of process of synthesis and processing for multispectral image data. On the basis of optoelectronic imaging technique, the imaging process & feature of low light level(LLL) TV system are analyzed & the principle and processing construction of multispectral LLL TV image fusion are discussed. The proper combination of low light level camera and optical filters is used to implement multispectral image fusion experiment at night for outdoor static scene by the aid of computer. The results of experiment indicate that multispectral low light level image fusion has improved the capability for recognizing targets.

A binocular stereo vision system developed in this papers is described. After preprocessing the aerial image pairs and resampling them along epipolar line, our system uses an area-based hierarchical matching method to find corresponding points. Utilizing absolute orientation, the coordinates of matching points and their parallaxes acquired through stereo matching are converted to actual position and altitude. The final results of the system are recovered surface and Digital Elevation Model (DEM).

The ability to recognize edges of an object fast and accurately is a fundamental goal in computervision and imageprocessing. The facility is important in automatic manufacturing environment in industry. This paper defines and investigates an efficient method of edge extraction of image using directional tracing algorithm. Based on the approach of linear feature extraction presented by R. Nevatia and K.R. Babu, our algorithm is developed for the general situation of edge extraction. The technique employs the basic and intuitive principle that an edge pixel should possess local maximal gradient but no more domain information or knowledge is required. An effective and robust tracing strategy is proposed. Our algorithm has been tested on different kinds of images, and the results are satisfactory.

A software package of stereo vision mainly applied in civil engineering, biological medicine, aerospace engineering, and also in autonomously visual navigation, scene understanding is developed by Institute of Information Science at Northern Jiaotong University. This software package means to be able to autonomously come out 3-D surface data and analyze structure information of scene when being input image pair by CCD cameras. In this paper, we will present following key aspects: 1. The configuration of software package;2. Epipolar images generation;3. Matching strategy in software package;4. Visualization of 3-D data;5. Experiment and conclusion.

No sequential computer can meet processing demands today. One of the few options for meeting the computation needs is to exploit parallel processing. Morphological imageprocessing algorithms are utilized in many machine vision systems because it is a very powerful imageprocessing tool. Morphology analyses the images from the perspective of set theory and geometry. In this paper, considering the practical restriction of the resources, we proposed a multi-processor architecture for morphological imageprocessing. The architecture is simulated on a HP9000 series 700 workstation. The basic morphological operations such as dilation, erosion and algorithms such as edge detection can be easily and effectively implemented with the proposed architecture. Experimental results indicate that the architecture is robust. We also describe an application of morphological imageprocessing based on this parallel architecture, i.e., marking and counting objects.

We present mathematical and qualitative relations between a number of partial differential equations frequently used in imageprocessing and computervision. We show for example that classical active contours introduced for object detection by Terzopoulos (1988) and colleagues are connected to anisotropic diffusion flows as those defined by Perona and Malik (1990). We also deal with the relation of these flows with shock filters and variational approaches for image restoration.

In this contribution, we present a formal, logic-based approach to image interpretation by combining methods from two different research areas, namely computervision and knowledge representation. After describing two well known approaches we present a concise definition of the required solution of an image understanding problem. We then propose an object-centered, KL-ONE-like description logic tailored to the representation needs in image understanding and a calculus for computing an interpretation of a given image according to our definition.

Curve evolution has developed into an important tool in computervision and has been applied to a wide variety of problems such as smoothing of shapes, shape analysis and shape recovery. The different versions of curve evolution used in computervision together with the preprocessing step of constructing an edge-strength function can be integrated in the form of a new segmentation functional. The new functional permits junctions such as triple points to develop. The numerical solutions obtained retain sharp discontinuities or "shocks", thus providing sharp demarcation of object boundaries. The new segmentation functional is extended for application to vector-valued features such as color.
