How to exploit the new techniques in this research area has rarely discussed in the information systems field. This paper aims at exploring the opportunities from the most recent development from computervision area from the online shopping experience perspective. We discussed the possibility of extracting meaningful information from images and apply this to the online recommendation system to improve online customer shopping experience. Implications to both researchers and practitioners are discussed. The contribution of these papers are twofold, firstly, we have summarized the state-of-the-art of the computervision development in the online shopping recommendation system, especially in the fashion industry;secondly, we have provided some potential research gaps for on how computervision method could be used in the information systems field.

With the increasing demands of copyright protection, digital watermarking has been paid more and more attention. In the design of a watermarking method, the modeling of signal by a general parametric family of statistical distributions plays an important role in many image watermarking applications. In this paper, the probability density function of wavelet coefficients is modeled by the generalized Gaussian distribution (GGD), and the decision threshold is obtained by the Neyman-Pearson (NP) criterion. In the procedure of watermark embedding, the energy of image block is considered in the watermark embedding. Only those blocks whose energy exceeds a predetermined threshold are used to embed the watermark data. Its improved robustness is due to embedding in the significant wavelet coefficients based on the energy scheme and control of its strength factor from the variance of coefficient. Experimental results demonstrate that the effectiveness of the presented watermarking and its robustness against common imageprocessing and some kinds of geometric attacks.

Classical restoration techniques usually require an explicit estimation or measurement of parameters for each error source. We propose to derive restoration parameters in a training phase with suitable test patterns for a particular system to be corrected. Space varying properties of different classes of image degradations are considered simultaneously. It is shown how training is performed in such a way that colors are reproduced correctly independently of the used test patterns.

In a previous paper it was proposed a graylevel quantization method by morphological histogram processing. This paper introduces the extension of that quantization method to color images. Considering an image under the RGB color space model, this extension reduces the number of colors in the image by partitioning an 3-D histogram, similar to the RGB color space, in rectangular parallelepiped regions, through a iterative process. Such partitioning is done, in each iteration, by application of the graylevel quantization method to the longest dimension of the current region which has the greatest volume. The final classified color space is used to quantize the image. This paper also shows the comparison of the proposed method to the classical median cut one.

A method of car face image segmentation based on haar-like features and improved cascade classifier was proposed to solve the problems of insufficient classification recognition performance and too long training time of the current classifier. First, the haar-like features of the image are calculated based on integral graph. Then the extracted feature values are input into the cascade classifier for training. Finally, the trained classifier was used to detect the vehicle face and segment the image of the vehicle face. In this paper an adaptive threshold setting method is proposed. The experimental results show that the method has the better performance than the traditional methods, and has better application prospects.

Parallel hardware becomes a commonly used approach to satisfy the intensive computation demands of computervision systems. A multiprocessor architecture based on hypercube interconnecting digital signal processors (DSPs) is described to exploit the temporal and spatial parallelism. This paper presents a parallel implementation of low level vision algorithms designed on multi-DSP system. The convolution operation has been parallelized by using redundant boundary partitioning. Performance of the parallel convolution operation is investigated by varying the image size, mask size and the number of processors. Experimental results show that the speedup is close to the ideal value. However, it can be found that the loading imbalance of processor can significantly affect the computation time and speedup of the multi-DSP system.

A novel method called height from motion (HFM) is developed to estimate the motion and structure under planar motion. By using this method both translational and rotational motion (three degrees of freedom) can be treated in a unified manner. Based on the HFM method, the correspondence problem becomes easy to deal with, especially under translational motion. Experiments of real scene image sequences and the error analysis (theoretically and experimentally) have shown the efficiency and robustness of the method.
