Recently wireless sensor network is being used for many applications such as habitant and environmental monitoring, target tracking, structural health monitoring and critical infrastructure protection. Wireless sensor network contains number of nodes that are randomly, densely or sparsely deployed due to their requirement and able to sense environmental changes. Congestion in wireless sensor network is crucial issue due to the heavy traffic in wireless sensor network. Congestion occurs due to link failure or buffer overflow. Congestion control algorithms in wireless sensor network are classified as a) traffic control and b) resource control. Traffic control based congestion control algorithm solves congestion by controlling traffic rate or increasing the buffer size. And resource control algorithm uses extra node by selecting a different path to mitigate congestion. In this paper, we review resource utilization based congestion control techniques based on and compare them with parameters Path Selection Method, Congestion Detection, Fairness, Scalability, Congestion Notification, Reliable Data Transmission, Traffic Direction.

The coding of even-bit marking algorithm (CEBM) is characteristic of its simple coding, low energy consumption for computing and low expenses for hardware. It can be used in the wireless sensor network in the measurement and control system for the condition of stored-grain to compress the data of transmission, lower the energy consumption in communication transmission, and use a small quantity of energy expenses for computing to save a great quantity of energy consumption needed in transmission communication. This settles the problem of energy constraint of the wireless sensor nodes in the measurement and control system. Experimental results show that the compression ratio of transmission data can reach 67% to 73% and the energy consumption in the sensor nodes communication can be reduced by 30% to 70%, which reveals CEBM is of great value in real application.

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a collection of distributed sensor nodes to work together for monitoring the physical and environmental conditions. Trust in wireless sensor networks is an important issue and it solves the problem of access control, privacy, secure routing scheme and reliable communication. This paper introduces a new approach to calculate the trust in WSN. The proposed algorithm and the evaluation of the trust value of the node in the network depend on the trust attributes, metrics and trust parameters.

This paper outlines the Byzantine attack and comparative analysis with different attacks;among these attacks. The paper also presented the solution to the problem of Byzantine attack that arises in most of network scenarios. The problem of Byzantine attack is causing timeouts, unexpected transmission or packet losses. The proposed Solution modifies the existing techniques and provides some alternative solution, that is, (i) Set network Node controller that provides the authentication mechanism and control existing nodes in the network scenario, (ii) read MAC addresses of every node existing in the network, and (iii) adopt modify route selection mechanism to maintain the route table information. Results of simulation have been calculated from the NS2 Simulator and compare the results of proposed method with Byzantine attack.

Energy optimization is considered as one of the challenging research topics of Wireless sensor networks. Several solutions in the form of clustering, data fusion & aggregation, optimal and smart routing have come forward and it is concluded that one needs to incorporate these solutions in order to effectively optimize energy of WSNs. This paper provides a technique to form uniform clusters, selecting cluster heads and thereby providing secured data fusion mechanism in order to transmit secured data in an energy efficient way within the network. Simulation to evaluate the secured data transmission across the clusters has also been performed.

We have developed three kinds of a positioning system using an electronic track flatcar loaded on a large water tank for directivity measurements of LED-panel. Three applications are an underwater horizontal directivity measurement, an in-air horizontal directivity one, and an underwater vertical directivity one. Each measurement application is constituted of three systems that are a positioning system, an LED optical resource system, and an optical sensor system. Their control and monitoring programs have been developed using network communication protocols such as web service. An LED optical resource system includes an embedded firmware programmed using extended SPI communication protocol. And then, these multiple systems have been automatically performed by a newly-developed synchronization protocol.

Wireless sensor network has greatly evolved the energy efficient utilization. In WSN sensor nodes, have limited energy budget so this paper mainly focus on harvesting of energy and power saving. The selection of cooperation nodes must be a long time usable batteries because batteries are not easily rechargeable and available which is not reliable. The selection of such nodes to reduce error estimation and power conserving. In this paper focus on algorithms, approaches and techniques which deals how to increase efficiency of battery. For efficient energy stable power and long term system adopts a Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) circuitry. In power saving techniques employs power control and power management techniques. Power control includes two factors distance and link factor which affect the power transmission. Power management schema use energy harvesting schemes on different nodes by sleep/awake method. Energy efficient algorithms increase efficiency of power and life time of battery.

This paper evaluates an analytic method for throughput measurement of IEEE 802.15.4 WSN networks under the interference of an IEEE 802.11 WLAN network with help of mathematical calculations. The presence of mutual interference between IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.11 makes the packet to be lost due to collision in data packets. In this paper, the transmission phenomenon is evaluated by five different occurrences of events based on Poisson distribution to show the effect of respective 802.11 nodes on throughput of an 802.15.4 network. The MATLAB simulations have been performed for the calculated framework to check its accuracy and understanding. The theoretical expressions closely match with simulation results. This shows the effectiveness of framework.

Finding location in wireless sensor network (WSN) is a basic and crucial issue because sensed data without location information is useless. Mainly localization algorithms can be categorized into two classes: range-free and range-based. Range-free algorithms are more cost-effective than range based schemes; an additional ranging hardware is needed in range based algorithms. In this paper, we present a distributed range free localization algorithm: Varying Anchor Range Half Normal (VARHN) for WSN, in that connectivity, varying anchor ranges and method of half normal are used for providing a low estimated error than other range free algorithms. In VARHN algorithm, anchor nodes transmit beacon signals in the whole network at different range levels, which make multiple rings and circles of transmission ranges of anchors. The principle of half normal is used for estimating the position of unknown nodes. VARHN is also energy efficient because it doesn't need information exchange between nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has more accuracy than Centroid, Weighted Centroid Localization (WCL) and Convex Position Estimation (CPE) localization algorithms.

A considerable amount of energy efficient routing algorithms have been proposed to save energy and prolong network lifetime. Those algorithms mainly focus on forwarding packets along the minimum energy path to the sink to merely minimize energy consumption, which causes an unbalanced distribution of residual energy among sensor nodes, and eventually results in a network partition. In this paper, we propose a distributed energy balanced routing algorithm using energy prediction metric (EBEP). The routing scheme considers not only efficient energy but also energy balance. Firstly, with the help of Markov chain model and state conversion model, the future residual energy of front neighbor nodes can be predicted so that it is the most important local information when a node makes routing decision. Furthermore, the function of cost is adopted by our EBEP routing algorithm in order to synthetically evaluate and then select the best candidate of next step. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate the performance advantages of our EBEP routing algorithm.
