Parallel simulation tasks of computer-aided engineering (CAE) require software licenses when running on parallel computing clusters. However, most existing license management software lacks interfaces to interact with cluster scheduling systems. In the context of multiple Slurm clusters, the job scheduler of each cluster cannot obtain real-time information on available license counts from the license server, and the same software license is assigned to multiple jobs, resulting in abnormal job execution. The paper proposes a license management model called PMLP, which is designed to enable sharing of a software license resource repository among multiple Slurm clusters. PMLP can monitor the license server port and parse the logs of the license management software to obtain real-time information on available licenses and synchronize it across all clusters. Experimental results using a historical job dataset from a parallel computing center show that compared with the proportional allocation of licenses to each cluster, the average utilization of licenses is improved by 18.47%. Compared with the scheme of synchronizing usage information from the license server through periodic polling, the proportion of abnormal jobs is reduced by 4.76%. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Stitching underwater videos captured by a hand-held camera can essentially enhance the entertainment experience. However, underwater video is difficult to stitch due to its shortcomings in definition, visibility, shakiness and parallax. In this paper, we propose a video stitching system for underwater videos captured by mobile cameras. Our method consists of three components, underwater image enhancement, unified video stitching and 3D projection. The underwater image enhancement is a component based on Relative Global Histogram Stretching (RGHS). After the processing of this component, videos with higher definition and better visibility can be obtained, which will benefit the subsequent video stitching. The unified video stitching is a component based on background identification. Through background identification, we divide video stitching into two steps: background video stitching and foreground video stitching. This makes the stitched panoramic video more stable and the picture more natural, which is the key to heavy shakiness and large parallax problem. In addition, we have also studied the playback of the panoramic video to make it more immersive. We test the proposed system on videos that are captured by hand-held cameras when diving, and use SSIM, UCIQE, UIQM, and stitching score to quantitatively evaluate the generated panoramic video. The experimental results prove the effectiveness and robustness of our method in various cases, and the better video stitching results than existing methods. © 2021 IEEE.

The enormous computing tasks in the Mobile Edge computing (MEC) beget challenges correlated with cost, energy consumption and quality of service. However, existing studies are not optimized enough for MEC in terms of the selection of task classification and scheduling schemes. Inspired by spam classification idea, a novel task scheduling scheme is proposed for MEC via Bayesian Classifier. The MEC tasks are first categorized into three priority categories using Naive Bayes. In addition, the priority-based classification task scheduling (PCTS) scheme is proposed to schedule the classified tasks with different priorities. Finally, the experimental evaluation is conducted using three metrics that include latency, processing time, and energy consumption. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the baseline schemes in accordance with completion time and throughout rate. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Neural networks, as powerful models for solving many genuine problems, are suffering from the issue of being too computationally intensive due to the excessive size of the models themselves and the large datasets used for training. This paper's work focuses on a parallel algorithm, experimented on the classical convolutional neural network LeNet-5, aiming to reduce the time it takes for the neural network to train. This applies a massively parallel GPU structure to take full advantage of its high computing power. Among the approaches to improve the performance of parallel algorithms, many efforts have been made to improve the design of parallel structures, while this work focuses more on the enhancement of parallel algorithms by reasonable settings of neural network hyperparameters. This paper tries to approach (1) reducing the running time by testing parallelism with different numbers of GPUs and (2) further investigating the relationship between parallelism and model accuracy degradation and experimentally deriving a parallel scheme that can reduce the training time while guaranteeing accuracy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

UnifyFS, a user-level file system specifically designed for burst buffers, aims to integrate the existing node-local storage layers in parallel computing systems, thereby providing a unified namespace for parallel computing applications. This study details the successful integration of UnifyFS with the Slurm resource manager, and emphasizes the synergistic effects of this integration in enhancing the performance of parallel computing systems. Detailed evaluations of this integration on leading parallel computing systems show that the integrated system exhibits significant advantages in scalability of data writing operations, and achieves notable performance improvements in the read-write bandwidth of applications, bringing higher efficiency and improvements to parallel computing applications. The paper thoroughly analyzes the effective integration mechanisms of UnifyFS and Slurm, and explores its potential in optimizing the collaborative operation of distributed storage and task scheduling, offering a viable solution to the broad parallel computing community. Future research will focus on further optimizing this integration framework, adding more advanced features, to achieve broader applications and technological innovations. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Network monitoring and measurement is an important part of realizing the network digital twin. However, it introduces the problem of high cost when obtaining the status data of physical networks. Therefore, to efficiently achieve network observability, we first introduce potential techniques and network scenarios for implementing network measurements. Then, a High-Yield Segment Routing over IPv6 based In-band Network Telemetry (HY-SRv6-INT) system is proposed in this paper. In particular, we design the HY-SRv6-INT system architecture. It consists of IPv6 switches implemented by the P4 language and a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controller containing the HY-SRv6-INT application. Next, we experimentally demonstrate a packet-level path-associated network measurement process. In addition, the performance of the HY-SRv6-INT system is also quantitatively evaluated to verify its advantages. In the data stream learning scenario, the whole picture of the data can't be observed, and the data may change dynamically, thus increasing the complexity and imbalance of the data. Aiming at the characteristics of data class changes (appearance, disappearance, and reappearance) of multi-class data stream, a Matthews Adaptive XGBoost algorithm based on One-Vs-Rest strategy is proposed. For the three cases of class change, the One-Vs-Rest strategy is used to build the model, and a binary classification model is created for each class. Aiming at the problem that the model gradually forgets the knowledge of the class after the class disappears, a management mechanism based on class frequency is proposed. In view of the problem that the restarted model affects the overall performance of the ensemble after the class is reproduced, the sliding window is used to initialize it. Aiming at the problem of ensemble classifiers, a mechanism to adapt the number of base classifiers is proposed. Experiments on real and synthetic datasets show that the improved algorithm improves Kappa and PMAUC indicators by 1.03% and 0.82%, respectively. With the development of Internet techniques, the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol has become the most popular protocol for traffic encryption. ESNI, which is an extension of the TLS 1.3 protocol and enables the encryption of SNI, greatly protects the privacy of users. Currently, the measurement and exploration of ESNI applications and deployment are quite lacking. In this paper, we conduct the first study of ESNI deployment and use since its standardization by the IETF. We propose a novel ESNI measurement method combining active DNS TXT and TLS scanning. We collect a large amount of domain data based on passive monitoring and open source sites, and acquire 5.5 billion data during 3 months. We perform a global measurement of ESNI by deploying high-performance active detection services. According to comprehensive analysis, we find that 0.73% of global sites and 3.4% second-level domains support ESNI. The higher proportion correspond to China (.cn) and Russia (.ru), being 21.13% and 15.63% respectively. We also establish and investigate the critical contribution of hosting services and CDNs to rapid deployment and initial uptake of the ESNI. They will accelerate the deployment of ESNI applications. Especially, Cloudflare is the only vendor that supports ESNI on the server side. Finally, we validate the measurement framework and the results demonstrate the feasibility of the measurement method. © 2021 IEEE.

This article provides a comprehensive definition of big data and focuses on the current status and development trends of big data hardware and software infrastructure by comprehensively summarizing relevant research at home and abroad. In terms of hardware, the impact of storage technology, computing resources, and networks on big data processing performance and scalability was discussed. In terms of software, the focus was on the functions and characteristics of big data processing frameworks, as well as comparing their advantages and limitations in practical applications. By comprehensively summarizing the hardware and software infrastructure of big data and exploring solutions to challenges, a solid foundation can be laid for the development of the big data field, achieving more efficient, secure, and intelligent big data processing and applications. © 2023 ACM.

The metaverse originated from science fiction at first, but it gradually came into reality with the continuous power of technology. Aiming at the problems of course work in Chinese universities, such as its function is weakened or suppressed, its form is too abstract, and it lacks elaborate design, this paper proposes a design method of course work meta-universe based on extended reality under edge computing. XR technology is used to realize the interactive immersion of the coursework meta-universe, in order to improve students’ learning enthusiasm and ability to solve abstract problems. Based on the international perspective, this paper systematically combs and analyzes the integration architecture, application scenarios and future trends of the meta-universe education application based on Edge computing (MEC). Four key processes are described: teacher-student interaction, data collection, data feedback and comprehensive evaluation. In order to promote the application of the metaverse in the field of education to provide mirror.
