Blockchains started as an enabling technology in the area of digital currencies with the introduction of Bitcoin. However, blockchains have emerged as a technology that goes beyond financial transactions by providing a platform supporting secure and robust distributed public ledgers. We think that the internet of Things (IoT) can also benefit from blockchain technology, especially in the areas of security, privacy, fault tolerance, and autonomous behavior. Here we present a decision framework to help practitioners systematically evaluate the potential use of blockchains in an IoT context. This work proposes the design and improvement of the wireless cloud system services for controlling water temperature and monitoring the pH-value for the crayfish breeding system. The cooling system employs a set of peltier, microcontroller board, and temperature and pH sensors. The circulate water system is used in order to maintain well-distributed water temperature in the water tank. The record data is displayed via the cloud computing processing system, which can be access the measured data at any time and everywhere by various PDA devices via internet network.

Fog computing is a platform for executing computation intensive tasks by aggregating computational resources of the edge-devices. The challenges of fog computing, includes heterogeneity, scalability, addressing and security. In this paper, we address the workload distribution problem in fog network. This is particularly important for reducing the computational latency of an offloading task. An efficient workload distribution is required for effective resource utilization of the fog network. The two extreme approaches for solving the workload distribution problem is by utilizing a centralized or a distributed approach. A distributive framework can be scalable and fault tolerant. However, the communication overhead for maintaining a distributed framework is significantly more compared to a centralized approach. On the other hand, a centralized framework, can be relatively easier for implementing an economic model for multiple services offered by the system. In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of implementing a centralized framework to handle workload distribution in fog network. The two main entities of the framework are: Controller, that collects the available network resources of the participating devices for efficient workload distribution and Clients, providing computational resources for executing task. We evaluate our framework by integrating various heterogeneous nodes like DragonBoard, RaspberryPi and others.

The future power system can be considered as an aggregation of controllable distributed systems devices that coordinate with each other through the internet of Things(IoT), energy internet(EI) new paradigms arise. In EI environments, agreement among multiple computers is essential for power generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption etc. applications. Coordinated control and security protection play important roles in the application of a distributed computing environment. A consensus approach can provide fault tolerance and prevent system errors and attacks, thereby providing the system with strong security in distributed computing environment. In this paper, a distributed Kalman filter with consensus coordinated control algorithm for multiagent systems(MAS) was proposed to investigate the energy internet with links failure by cyber attack. The proposed algorithm is evaluated in the energy internet through a MAS model using MATLAB software.

In recent years, with the impact of climate change and human activities, the spatial and temporal distribution of water resources change significantly. Data storage, computing and analysis of water resources data have become increasingly difficult. The traditional data storage and management technology are very difficult to handle current water resources data. In this case, the big data technology is used to tackle this challenging water resources management issue in the social and economic development. This paper, for the first time, addresses three key issues of designing and implementing distributed water resources big data management system. The performance and advantages of water resources big data system are evident in terms of data access, computing and analysis speed.

Cloud computing is a modern emerging trend in distributed computing technology that is rapidly gaining popularity in the network communication field. Such network communication is an internet-based computing, where shared resources, software, and information are provided with computers and devices on-demand. The concept of "cloud computing" is not new, it has proven a major commercial success over recent times and it is also considered "the delivery of computing model" through shared resources, software and information over the internet (public) or intranet (private). This innovative technology affords a new era of an electronic-service in diverse subject areas. This paper shows the role of cloud computing services and applications in different sectors, which in turn helps individuals and organizations to understand how cloud computing can provide them with customized, engine requirements, reliable and cost-effective services in a wide variety of applications. Furthermore, this context discusses a number of affecting factors, such as security, resource availability, cost, interoperability, precautions, and roadmap in healthcare, education, financial, agriculture and library sectors. Finally, the paper showcased the pros and cons of using cloud computing technology in different sectors. It additionally diagnosed the security factor that is a critical element in slowing down the adoption of cloud computing in various applications and institutions. © 2018 Association for computing Machinery.

Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) as a radio access technology for the cellular internet of Things (cIoT) is getting more traction due to attractive system parameters, new proposals in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 14 for reduced power consumption and ongoing world-wide deployment. As per 3GPP, the low-power and wide-area use cases in 5G specification will be addressed by the early NB-IoT and Long-Term Evolution for Machines (LTE-M) based technologies. Since these cIoT networks will operate in a spatially distributed environment, there are various challenges to be addressed for tests and measurements of these networks. To meet these requirements, unified emulated and field testbeds for NB-IoT-networks were developed and used for extensive performance measurements. This paper analyses the results of these measurements with regard to RF coverage, signal quality, latency, and protocol consistency.

Cloud computing has become a revolutionary paradigm by provisioning on-demand and low cost computing resources for customers. As a result, scientific workflow, which is the big data application, is increasingly prone to adopt cloud computing resources. However, internal failure (host fault) is inevitable in such large distributed computing environment. It is also well studied that cloud data center will experience malicious attacks frequently. Hence, external failure (failure by malicious attack) should also be considered when executing scientific workflows in cloud. In this paper, a fault-tolerant scheduling (FTS) algorithm is proposed for scientific workflow in cloud computing environment, the aim of which is to minimize the workflow cost with the deadline constraint even in the presence of internal and external failures. The FTS algorithm, based on tasks replication method, is one of the widely used fault tolerant mechanisms. The experimental results in terms of real-world scientific workflow applications demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of our proposed algorithm. The rapid advancements in the field of information technology particularly in cloud computing have enabled people to use various sophisticated and powerful techniques such as cloud collaboration, use of logistics information system, distributed management task force, mobile applications, knowledge engineering, artificial intelligence etc. These important techniques are applied in various diversified fields to handle lot of real life problems and issues such as disaster management, emergency relief, distribution management etc. This paper specifies a case study which aims to apply distributed data center in logistics as cloud collaboration for handling disaster relief. It also analyzes the role of logistics information system (LIS) in natural disaster activities for emergency relief and response. LIS supports distribution, tracking, tracing of goods and funds in all phases of disaster relief operations cycle in logistics. This study is based on Nepal earthquake, 2015, which proposes distributed data center and provides connectivity among the relief data centers/ organizations for sharing information at different locations by using LIS. The study depicts how relief data centers communicate to different relief organizations for various logistics needs by applying the proposed distributed data center. This particular LIS can be used to connect the data center at different locations andante disseminate information at reduce cost and time with immediate response in cloud environment. © 2018 IEEE.

Nowadays, Cloud computing (CC) had become an integral part of IT industry. It represents the maturing of technology and is a pliable, cost-effective platform which provides business/IT services over the internet. Although there are several benefits of adopting this technology, there are some significant hurdles to it and one of them is security. In fact, due to the distributed and open nature of the cloud, resources, applications, and data are vulnerable and prone to intrusions that affect confidentiality, availability and integrity of Cloud resources and offered services. Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) has become the most commonly used component of computer system security and compliance practices that defends network accessible Cloud resources and services from various kinds of threats and attacks, while maintaining performance and service quality. In this work, in order to detect intrusions in CC environment, we propose a novel anomaly NIDS based on Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) classifier optimized using Genetic Algorithm. Since, Learning rate and Momentum term are among the most relevant parameters that impact the performance of BPNN classifier, we have employed Genetic Algorithm to find the optimal values of these two parameters which ensure high detection rate, high accuracy and low false alarm rate. Experimental results on KDD CUP' 99 dataset indicate that in comparison to several traditional and new techniques, our proposed approach achieves higher detection rate and lower false positive rate.
