Unmanned aircraft system supposed to give users efficient mobility is considered as one of the most valuable autonomous control systems. It is mainly used in the field of defense, anti-fire, surveillance, geographical information collection and avionic image services. While most of unmanned aircrafts are in the type of fixed-wing, we developed video surveillance system based on rotary-wing aircraft that could continuously approach and trace targets. To efficiently utilize and share the avionic video contents, we also developed distributed computing environment focusing on improving reliability or real-time synchronization. However, there has been a limit in the number of nodes that share same contents. Thus, cloud computing is considered as one of most efficient technique paradigms for contents sharing. In this paper, we suggest an extended cloud computing architecture and show details of the platform structure for open and immediate sharing of avionic contents. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Popularity of cloud computing is increasing day by day in distributed computing environment. There is a growing trend of using cloud environments for storage and data processing needs. Cloud computing is an internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices on demand. However, adopting a cloud computing paradigm may have positive as well as negative effects on the data security of service consumers. This paper primarily highlights some major security issues existing in current cloud computing environments. The primary issue that has to be dealt with when talking about data security in a cloud is protection of the data. The idea is to construct a privacy preserving repository where data sharing services can update and control the access and limit the usage of their shared data, instead of submitting data to central authorities, and, hence, the repository will promote data sharing and privacy of data. This paper aims at simultaneously achieving data confidentiality while still keeping the harmonizing relations intact in the cloud. Our proposed scheme enables the data owner to delegate most of computation intensive tasks to cloud servers without disclosing data contents or user access privilege information.

How to stipulate data consistence is very important when developing software packages for integrating or modifying the existing distributed vision-based traffic surveillance systems into a larger one. We extend our previous holonic architecture to verify formally the data consistence of the novel system via an intermediate modular using a STF-based settheoretical approach under the assumption that all existing subsystems are data consistent.

Network bandwidth and hardware technology are developing rapidly, resulting in the vigorous development of the internet. A new concept, cloud computing, uses low-power hosts to achieve high reliability. The cloud computing, an internet-based development in which dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the internet has become a significant issue. The cloud computing refers to a class of systems and applications that employ distributed resources to perform a function in a decentralized manner. Cloud computing is to utilize the computing resources (service nodes) on the network to facilitate the execution of complicated tasks that require large-scale computation. Thus, the selecting nodes for executing a task in the cloud computing must be considered, and to exploit the effectiveness of the resources, they have to be properly selected according to the properties of the task. However, in this study, a two-phase scheduling algorithm under a three-level cloud computing network is advanced. The proposed scheduling algorithm combines OLB (Opportunistic Load Balancing) and LBMM (Load Balance Min-Min) scheduling algorithms that can utilize more better executing efficiency and maintain the load balancing of system.

Fault-tolerance is an important research topic in the study of distributed systems. To counter the influence of faulty components, it is essential to reach a common agreement in the presence of faults before performing certain tasks. However, the agreement problem is fundamental to fault-tolerant distributed systems. In previous studies, protocols dealing with the agreement problem have focused on a network topology with faulty hardware components. However, cloud computing, an internet-based development in which dynamically scalable and often virtualized resources are provided as a service over the internet has become a significant issue. Therefore, previous protocols for the agreement problem with fallible hardware are not suitable for a cloud computing environment with fallible processes. To enhance fault tolerance, the agreement problem in a cloud computing environment with fallible processes is revisited in this study. The proposed protocol can solve the agreement problem with a minimal number of rounds of message exchange and tolerates a maximal number of faulty processes.

Grid computing is increasingly being viewed as the next phase of distributed computing. Built on pervasive internet standards, grid computing enables organizations to share computing and information resources across department and organizational boundaries in a secure, highly efficient manner. Grid computing originates in e-Science and its early development was driven to a large extent by the requirements of large-scale computing and efficient sharing of huge datasets. e-Business requirements led to the adoption of emerging Web services technologies-initially developed for distributed business application integration. Therefore grid computing can be applied to enterprise computing within and across organizations and pave the way for utility computing. This paper propose an all InfiniBand grid computing proof of concept (PoC) to deploy "Database-as-a-Service" for mission-critical Oracle deployments in high-end transactional situations. This shows that performance of grid architecture-leveraging blade servers as well as InfiniBand networking and Storage is capable of achieving results equivalent to traditional, high-end SMP systems at significantly lower cost and power consumption levels.

Recently, both networking and high-performance computing technologies have dramatically advanced. As a result, scientists can access large-scale data captured by scientific measurement devices with ease. Also, recent high-performance computing technologies such as the Grid and cloud computing have allowed scientists to use huge computational power harnessed on the internet for their analysis of scientific data. However, visualization technology, which plays the role of great importance for scientists intuitively in understanding the analysis results of such scientific data, is not fully utilized so that it can benefit from recent high-performance and networking technologies although many sophisticated visualization technologies exists nowadays. One of such visualization technologies is SAGE (Scalable Adaptive Graphics Environment), which allows people to build an arbitrary size of a tiled display wall and is expected to be applied to scientific research. In this paper, we describe a multi-application controller for SAGE middleware, which we have developed, in the hope that it will help scientists perform their analysis on a wide-area distributed computing environment. The evaluation in the paper indicates the efficiency of completing a comparison task among multiple data is raised by our system. © 2010 IEEE.
