This paper presents the motivation and challenges to developing semantic interoperability for an internet of things network that is used in the context of home based care. The paper describes a research environment which examines these challenges and illustrates the motivation through a scenario whereby a network of devices in the home is used to provide high-level information about elderly patients by leveraging from techniques in context awareness, automated reasoning, and configuration planning.

As the request of database services about the intelligent community, in this paper, an intense research for the distributed Real-Time Database (DRTDB) about the intelligent community has been conducted. And then a database service architecture about the intelligent community has been obtained. Besides, the data storage scheme of Main Memory Database (MMDB) and distributed real-time transaction processing technologies have been studied and applied to this intelligent community. The experiments for inserting and querying functions on DRTDB and common database have been done. Finally, the conclusion shows that the technologies of DRTDB and MMDB in this paper can really meet the requirements of intelligent community in the aspect of real-time data access.

It connects objects such as smart phones, sensors, Light Emitting Diodes (LED) displays, vehicles through the internet allowing them to interact and exchange information among themselves. In today's times IoT has found its application in practically every walk of life and supply chain management is no exception. At present, supply chains are becoming increasingly complex, where suppliers and customers stretch between various countries and continents. The biggest problem faced by manufacturers is to optimize supply chain performance and reduce operational costs over such large geographical stretches. IoT acts as a solution to this problem as it facilitates the use of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in order to interconnect all the various actors in a supply chain. This humongous network of interconnected devices generate massive amounts of data which is difficult to store and process. Cloud computing here plays a role of a facilitator and provides great help in addressing challenges related to storage and processing capabilities. In this paper, we present an Intelligent Supply Chain Management System (ISCMS) that benefits from the amalgamation of IoT and Cloud and provides real time monitoring, tracking and managing of goods from the perspective of a supplier, customer and shipper. We also propose an algorithm that depicts the working of our system. The proposed Intelligent Supply Chain Management System along with the algorithm are simulated using the iFogSim simulator. To this end, we illustrate the working of our proposed system along with the simulated results.

Smart Manufacturing is the need of the hour in India with growing concerns of environmental safety, energy conservation and need for agile and efficient practices to help Indian firms remain competitive against the low cost mass manufacturing and imports. The twelfth five year plan in India (2012-17) (Ministry of Commerce, 2012) has identified low technology intensity, inadequate costs and high transaction costs as major constraints. Smart Manufacturing can help companies gather and consolidate data on near real time basis at each step of their operations to get meaningful insights using existing instrumentation e. g. sensors in valves, motors, pressure and energy meters by connecting them to a digital network where data generated by them is constantly stored for proactive decision making. In wireless sensor networks, data gathering and aggregation plays an important role while routing protocols are used to forward information to the base station. Clustering is the best way so far to do data aggregation and routing. In clustered network, cluster heads (CHs) are the special nodes within network where collected data within a cluster are stored. While routing data to the base station, only CHs are used. Most of the clustering techniques follow round mechanism to decide next CHs. In order to maintain fault, tolerance, this round mechanism is well suitable as faulty nodes are detected in each round. But, generation of new CHs after each round increases communication overhead in the network. In this paper, we propose a new energy-efficient distributed QoS-aware clustering technique to reduce this increased overhead in clustered wireless sensor networks. Our simulation results show that proposed heuristic outperforms existing methods under various parameters.
