With the development of internet, there are billions of short texts generated each day. However, the accuracy of large scale short text classification is poor due to the data sparseness. Traditional methods used to use external dataset to enrich the representation of document and solve the data sparsity problem. But external dataset which matches the specific short texts is hard to find. In this paper, we propose a framework to solve the data sparsity problem without using external dataset. Our framework deal with large scale short text by making the most of semantic similarity of words which learned from the training short texts. First, we learn worddistributed representation and measure the word semantic similarity from the training short texts. Then, we propose a method which enrich the document representation by using the word semantic similarity information. At last, we build classifiers based on the enriched representation. We evaluate our framework on both the benchmark dataset(Standford Sentiment Treebank) and the large scale Chinese news title dataset which collected by ourselves. For the benchmark dataset, using our framework can improve 3% classification accuracy. The result we tested on the large scale Chinese news title dataset shows that our framework achieve better result with the increase of the training set size.

Automatic age estimation relying on human facial images is a key technology of many real-world applications, which is still a challenging task in the computer vision field. There are three cascade modules for facial age estimation: facial aging feature extraction, dimension reduction (or feature selection) and estimation method. Many existing literatures focus on the first or last module while for an age estimation system, it's also important to construct a reasonable framework. Our work focuses on creating an effective framework by selecting methods for these modules reasonably. Firstly, a BIM (bio-inspired model) is employed to extract facial aging features because it can not only capture discriminative local and global features, but also overcome interferences of some 2D deformations to some extent. Then, LDA (linear discriminant analysis) is used for reducing the BIF (bio-inspired features) to lower dimensions and extracting more discriminative information at the same time. Finally, CS-OHRank (cost-sensitive ordinal hyperplane rank), which tackles with sparse data well and reflects the cumulative attributes of aging, is applied as the estimation method. Experimental results on benchmark dataset FG-NET show that our framework combining BIF, LDA and CS-OHRank is competitive among the state of the art, with MAE (mean absolute error) = 4.72 years

Robust hand tracking is a great challenge due to human hand's small size and drastic appearance changes. Recently, machine learning especially online learning methods have shown their promising ability in object tracking. This paper successfully achieved hand tracking under a lately popular online learning framework named Tracking-Learning-Detection (TLD) by a win-win thought that hand tracking and posture recognition can benefit from each other. Firstly, the object model is extended in order to import posture recognition which is done without extra recognition algorithms. In turn, the introducing of hand postures enhance hand tracking since the tracker is adaptive to different hand shapes. At last, skin color is sufficiently applied in every module (tracking, learning and detection) of TLD further improving the speed and accuracy of tracking. Experiments show that the proposed method works well on hand tracking with the additional ability to recognize some given hand postures under various difficulties.

The continuous growth in using mobile devices (e.g. smart phones, tablets, etc.) has increased the complexity in provisioning cellular network resources. Applying the cloud computing model in LTE (Long Term Evolution) systems could be a good solution to increase LTE's performance by building a shared distributed mobile network that can optimize the utilization of resources, minimize communication delays, and avoid bottlenecks. One of the most important concepts used in mobile networks is service continuity. Mobile users moving from one sub-network to another should be able to seamlessly continue to retrieve content and use services (e.g. video streaming, electronic games, VoIP, etc.) that they want. In this paper, the Information Centric Networking/Content Centric Networking (ICN/CCN) approach is proposed to be used as a solution for service continuity in virtualized LTE systems. By using NS3 simulation experiments it is shown that the introduced approach is able to satisfy the performance related service continuity requirements.

The Open Virtualization Format (OVF) is a software packaging standard designed to support the portability and deployment of applications in different virtualization platforms. Ease interoperability and portability among cloud providers is of paramount importance to mitigate vendor lock-in and fostering cooperation among different cloud technologies. To this end, the researcher community is spending a lot of effort in investigating cloud broker and cloud federation solutions. However, we feel that the community still misses an open-source reference tool for the management of these operations when it comes to the OVF standard. With the aim to fill this gap, we propose the OVF Toolkit, an open tool to parse, render, and split OVF files. This paper describes the principal design decisions, the implementation, and the capabilities of the toolkit, as well as its experimental evaluation.

Agent-level negotiations between an application and a cloud service provider (SP) face two complexities: i) inaccuracy of computational models in capturing the behavior of a cloud-based system made up of diverse components and resources;and ii) disparity in the goals and priorities of an application and the SP in exercising a cloud-based system. The paper suggests trial actions by an agent to learn about the system behavior and the opponent agent goals, as part of effective negotiation strategy. The paper identifies transaction-style primitives for agents to invoke trial actions on the system QoS space: searching, alternations, and improvements. A larger goal of optimal QoS control can be achieved with our primitives. A case study of CDN realized on a cloud is also described.

Accessing and searching massive academic publications that are distributed over several locations need large amount of computing resources to increase the system performance. Therefore, many grid-based search techniques were proposed to provide flexible methods for searching the distributed extensive data. This paper proposes search technique that is capable of searching the extensive publications by utilizing grid computingtechnology. The search technique is implemented as interconnected grid services to offer a mechanism to access different data locations. The experimental result shows that the grid-based search technique has enhanced the performance of the search.
