The heterogeneity of IoT devices, resource bottlenecks, and security risks present challenges to the robustness and privacy of federated learning. The difference in the value of IoT data further weakens the robustness of the model. Additionally, attack methods such as Byzantine attacks and privacy inference attacks escalate the risks and vulnerabilities of federated learning models. To address these issues, we propose an asynchronous robust federated learning method based on data value. Firstly, an asynchronous grouping robust aggregation (AGRA) algorithm is designed and combined with a cosine anomaly filter to eliminate abnormal gradients. Simultaneously, an inter-group delay aggregation strategy oriented towards data value is proposed. Secondly, an efficient and robust aggregation protocol supporting asynchronous grouping is constructed to significantly reduce communication overhead while safeguarding data privacy. Finally, through data grading and secure storage adjustment using differential privacy, high-value data can be maximized, thereby enhancing the efficiency and performance of federated learning while protecting privacy. Results show that the algorithm can significantly improve accuracy by 0.9% to 65.8% in the presence of stragglers, while also reducing communication overhead by 4.2% to 5.4%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This article focuses on the security challenges faced by power data in cloud environments, particularly the risk of data leakage caused by abnormal user behavior. The study proposes an innovative power data security defense technology based on behavioral profiling. This technology constructs a user behavior model through fuzzy C-means clustering algorithm, analyzes real-time access and operation characteristics of power data, forms accurate behavior portraits, and uses machine learning algorithms to identify abnormal behavior patterns. The experimental results show that this technology has extremely high accuracy in detecting normal and abnormal electricity usage behavior, with most data points having an accuracy rate of over 90%, and some even reaching 100%, effectively distinguishing between normal and abnormal behavior. The research conclusion shows that the defense strategy based on behavioral profiling provides a new perspective and efficient means for the security protection of power data, significantly improving the security protection level of power data in cloud environments, and building a solid defense line for the digital transformation of the power industry and the safe operation of smart grids. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Skin cancer poses a significant threat to human health, particularly when early identification and accurate diagnosis are lacking. Early detection is pivotal for successful treatment, given the potential lethality of this disease. While skin cancer is commonly associated with sun-exposed areas, it can also manifest on regions shielded from sunlight. In 2020, there were 150,000 new melanoma cases reported worldwide, making it the 17th most prevalent form of cancer. With a rapid increase in skin cancer cases, there is an urgent need for early and precise differentiation between cancerous and non-cancerous lesions. In response to this critical demand, we propose an advanced model for region-based skin cancer lesion classification utilizing the Faster CNN architecture. This innovative model aims to revolutionize skin cancer diagnosis, reducing reliance on dermatologists’ experience and conventional diagnostic tools. Our study presents an efficient automated system with enhanced evaluation and accuracy metrics, surpassing both prior research and expert dermatologists, achieving an impressive 92% accuracy for the proposed region-based Faster CNN model. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. Nerves are covered by a layer called myelin, which is responsible for protecting and maintaining their functionality. In the case of MS, the myelin becomes damaged, resulting in the nerves functioning unpredictably. MS is a disease characterized by relapses, which can cause permanent and irreversible damage to the patient's mobility, vision, and sensations, unless appropriate medical treatment is administered in time. This highlights the importance of the early detection of the presence or differentiation of MS using computer assisted diagnosis (CAD) systems. This study proposes an automatic segmentation approach of MS damaged regions using deep neural networks that can be integrated with any 3rd party CAD system. The data utilized comprised of a total of 1838 T2-type Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images collected from a cohort of 38 patients who underwent imaging at two distinct time points. Each MRI image was accompanied by meta-data, detailing the specific locations of the observed damage attributed to MS. The experimental setup investigated and optimized a comprehensive combination of different data preprocessing and augmentation steps, using several variations of the U-Net convolutional neural network (CNN), like U-Net++, Attention U-Net, ResUNet-a and TransUNet. The proposed methods achieved a segmentation accuracy of 0.70 based on the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), a performance comparable to 2D and 3D state-of-the-art approaches in literature. A software framework encapsulating the automated model was also developed to facilitate the clinical practice workflow and underpin adoption by medical practitioners. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2025.

Slowed federal adoption of cloud computing was due to a combination of major changes in information technology (IT) ecosystem and the lack of a new model to address adoption challenges in the evolving environment. Since cloud computing adoption is still ongoing, the federal government continues to focus on the steps necessary to move the government forward from a state of partial adoption. This paper analyzes the government approach to cloud computing adoption to identify changes that can be implemented to optimize quantum computing adoption. The research found that evolving cloud definitions, required governance changes, cloud workforce competition, competing enterprise requirements, and contracting approach issues were the primary adoption impediments. © The Author(s) 2025.
