para>Effective subsurface monitoring is vital in oil drilling. This study emphasizes the need for an algorithm to streamline video transmission from underground to the wellsite, overcoming bandwidth and interference challenges for high-quality transmission. It employs low-rank and sparse models to enhance image quality. Comparing three image processing algorithms, the Structured Low Dimensional Representation (SLDR) algorithm stands out. The research aims to improve subsurface image accuracy, ensuring underground pipeline system safety and integrity. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of fixed value checking of relay protection device, this paper proposes an automatic fixed value check method based on image processing technology. The mobile phone camera is used to collect the information of the fixed value single image, and the design algorithm of the original image is gray scale enhancement, binarization and tilt correction preprocessing, from which the clear fixed value single table part is extracted. Through the morphological method, the optical character recognition of each cell image and the recognition result are corrected, and then the fixed value entry information is obtained. Finally, establish the keyword database and the customized processing process for different models of protection devices, and complete the storage and automatic verification of the fixed value information. The field application results show that this method has high feasibility and reliability, and can provide technical support for improving the work efficiency of relevant personnel and ensuring the accuracy of fixed value. © 2023 IEEE.

In a medical therapy, the exact execution of the training exercises developed by the therapist is a crucial task for the success of the therapy. Currently, a therapist has to treat up to 15 patients at the same time on an outpatient basis. To compensate this deficit, an automated assistance system needs to be created. Previous approaches have focused on a parameterised segment angle-based assessment for training exercise feedback. This work focuses on a reference-based approach. This reference is created by the therapist and thus corresponds to the ideal movement model and can be individually adapted to the patient. It is necessary to compare this reference with the patients’ real movement in real time, to detect deviations and to output them as errors. For this purpose, the reference can be adapted to the body size of the patient and the patients’ current position and orientation can be taken into account, or it can be described by reference segments, i.e. an angle-based comparison of the reference. Our work highlights the the segment and reference-based assessment approach and compares them to each other. © 2023 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

This paper focuses on the problem of multi-robot localization based on vision systems. Between two localization methods, relative and absolute localization, the relative localization method is chosen to obtain robot position information. The paper uses a panoramic vision system to capture the color ring image information on the robot, and carries out feature point categorization based on an improved K-means clustering algorithm. As the pixel point values are not the actual target body distance values, it is necessary to obtain robot coordinate information by converting between the color ring pixel values and the real distance values. Traditional methods for unsupervised image clustering such as K-means, Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM), and Spectral Clustering (SC) have been proposed. However, these strategies may be time-consuming and labor-intensive, particularly when dealing with a vast quantity of unlabeled images. Recent studies have proposed incorporating deep learning techniques to improve upon these classic models. In this paper, we propose an approach that addresses the limitations of these prior methods by allowing for the association of multiple images at a time to each group and by considering images that are extremely close to the images that are already associated to the correct cluster. Additionally, we propose a method for reducing and unifying clusters when the number of clusters is deemed too high by the user, utilizing four different heuristics while considering the clustering as a single element. Our proposed method is able to analyze and group images in real-time without any prior training. Experiments confirm the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in various setting and scenarios. © 2023 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

In recent years, the tremendous potential of GAN in image generation has been demonstrated. Transformer derived from the NLP field is also gradually applied in computer vision, and vision Transformer performs well in image classification problems. In this paper, we design a ViT-based GAN architecture for image generation. We found that the Transformer-based generator did not perform well due to using the same attention matrix for each channel. To overcome this problem, we increased the number of heads to generate more attention matrices. And this part is named enhanced multi-head attention, replacing multi-head attention in Transformer. Secondly, our discriminator uses a hybrid model of ResNet50 and ViT, where ResNet50 works on feature extraction making the discriminator perform better. Experiments show that our architecture performs well on image generation tasks. © 2023 IEEE.

Aiming at the real time and accuracy of door handle pose estimation, this paper improved ORB matching algorithm and combined with least square plane fitting algorithm. In order to improve the real-time performance of the system to obtain the location information of the door handle, the ORB matching algorithm was used to reduce the time complexity of the algorithm itself and the polar constraint algorithm was added to reduce the search dimension to straight line search to reduce the matching time and reduce the mismatching. Finally, the least square plane fitting algorithm is used to obtain the spatial attitude information of the door handle under the camera plane. The accuracy and real-time performance of the improved ORB matching algorithm and the accuracy of the door handle pose are verified by experiments. The proposed method can meet the requirements in practical application. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper focuses on the detection and identification of defects on the end faces of small motor bearings. Bearing defects significantly impact the performance and lifespan of motors, and traditional manual inspection methods suffer from low efficiency and high miss rates. This paper proposes the use of machine vision and image processing techniques to enhance the speed, efficiency, and reliability of detection. The study includes the analysis of common defect types on bearing end faces, the selection of industrial cameras and vision lighting, as well as image preprocessing and edge detection. By improving the YOLOv5 algorithm, the detection performance for small and medium-sized targets on bearing end faces is optimized. Moreover, a supervisory software for bearing defect detection has been designed to achieve more effective processing and statistical analysis of detection results. The primary goal of the research is to enhance the accuracy and automation level of detection, reduce the risk of omissions in manual inspections, and improve detection efficiency through the advancement of deep learning-based target detection algorithms. This research holds significant importance for the technological progress and production efficiency improvement in the small motor bearing industry. © 2024 SPIE.
