Swarm robotics system has been a particularly active topic of robotics in recent years due to the increasing deepening of research on robotics technology and application. This paper gives a survey of swarm robotics system research from such aspects as theoretical basis and physical research, simulation platform, distributed control information fusion and communications system. Some problems that need to be solved about swarm robotics system research in IOT (Internet of Things) environment are also raised, such as co-adaptation, distributed control and self-organization, resource scheduling management. Finally, the ant colony algorithm and particle swarm optimization are applied to the swarm robotics system. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) are becoming more essential to wireless communications due to growing popularity of mobile devices. However, MANETs do not seem to effectively support multimedia applications and especially video transmission. In this work, we propose a cross-layer design that aims to improve the performance of video transmission using TCP Friendly Rate control (TFRC). Our design provides priority to video packets and exploits information from the MAC layer in order to improve TFRC's performance. The proposed cross-layer mechanism utilizes Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) measurements along the routing path, in order to make the route reconstruction procedure more efficient. Simulation results show that both the use of traffic categorization and the SNR utilization lead to important improvements of video transmission over the mobile Ad hoc network. More specifically, simulations indicate increased average Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) for the received video, increased throughput and packet delivery ration, as well as reduced average end-to-end delay.

Integrating a large number of embedded memories in System-on-Chips (SoC's) occupies up to more than 70% of the die size, thus requiring Built-In Self-Test (BIST) with the smallest possible area overhead. This paper analyzes MATS++(6N), March C-(10N), March SR(14N), and March CL(12N) test algorithms and shows that they cannot detect either Write Disturb Faults (WDFs) or Deceptive Read Destructive Faults (DrdFs) or both. Therefore to improve fault detection, an automation program is developed based on sequence operation (SQ) generation rules. However after solving the undetected fault, the outcome in term of its detection result of Static Double Cell Faults using the specified test algorithm especially Transition Coupling Faults (CFtrs), Write Destructive Coupling Faults (CFwds), Read Destructive Coupling Faults (CFrds) and Deceptive Read Destructive Faults (CFdrds) are observed. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper presents a human-robot collaboration framework which describes a comprehensive structure of rescue robots which are expected to collaborate with human in urban search and rescue (USAR). We develop a victim's autonomous search and rescue robotic system based on biomimetic sensing technology and discuss the information flow model and control mode transition between human and robot. The intelligence control architecture used for human-robot collaboration is also proposed. Experiments indicate that this system makes the collaboration convenient and the rescue robotics utilizing the intelligence control architecture search and discover victims promptly and efficiently. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper a dynamic simulation methodology of systems is presented by using ADAMS/MATLAB co-simulation. This methodology allows simulation, development and validation of different control strategiesfor robotic manipulator models in a fast way. It provides a first stage into the design of robotic prototypes for researchers and professionals. Finally, the methodology was validated by constructing a simulation model of a double pendulum and by implementing a PD type control strategy. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The paper offers a general formulation of abduction algorithms, referred to as minimum length solution algorithms, which are based on all observable states. The algorithms compute the necessary evidence to derive the correct hypothesis in minimum steps. A first version of algorithms is proposed such that to deal with situations when not all states are observable. The development of fuzzy inference systems is presented in order to apply the minimum length solution algorithms to sets of imprecise observations.

When people complain about traffic congestion in cities, the non-specialist imagines a lot of car drivers, who may be in each others way, but who at least all want to get to a certain destination. There is an increasing interest from motorists to have access to real-time information while en-route to a particular destination, advances in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) has focused on the dissemination of real time information. As central business districts, airports, transit stations, and shopping centers continue to become more crowded during peak times, demand for real-time parking information is increasing. With decreasing parking supply and increasing MMI airport patrons, Federal government of Nigeria needs to beginning to realize the importance of properly allocating available parking. Intelligent Parking Systems (IPS) canprovide the positive guidance necessary to help MMI airport patrons find available parking quickly and safely without missing the plane. The purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual model of parking guidance information system (PGIS). The reality is quite different: Up to 40 percent of car drivers are just cruising around hoping to find a parking space. It should be noted that, looking for parking spaces is a major cause of inner-city traffic especially Lagos. Keeping urban traffic flowing therefore means helping drivers find parking spaces. As experience has shown, the complexity of traffic means that real improvements can only be achieved with carefully harmonized complete solutions taking all factors into account. An Intelligent Parking System could help the Federal government of Nigeria reallocate parking and reduce congestion and illegal parks within the airport and its environment.

What can not be found, can not be used. Consequently, the success of a Website depends, apart from its content, on two main criteria: its top-listing by search engines and its usability. Hence, Website usability and search engine optimization (SEO) are two topics of great relevance. This paper focusses on analysing the extent that selected SEO-criteria, which were experimentally applied to a Website, affect the website's usability, measured by DIN EN ISO 9241-110 criteria. Our approach followed (i) a theory-based comparison of usability-recommendations and SEO-measures and (ii) a scenario- and questionnaire-based usability evaluation study combined with an eye-tracking analysis. The findings clearly show that Website usability and SEO are closely connected and compatible to a wide extent. The theory-based measures for SEO and Web Usability could be confirmed by the results of the conducted usability evaluation study and a positive correlation between search engine optimization and Website usability could be demonstrated.

Methods for dealing with the problem of the reality gap in evolutionary robotics are described. The focus is on simulator tuning, in which simulator parameters are adjusted in order to more accurately model reality. We investigate sample selection, which is the method of choosing the robot controllers, evaluated in reality, that guide simulator tuning. Six strategies for sample selection are compared on a robot locomotion task. It is found that strategies that select samples that show high fitness in simulation greatly outperform those that do not. One such strategy, which selects the sample that is the expected fittest as well as the most informative (in the sense of producing the most disagreement between potential simulators), results in the creation of a nearly optimal simulator in the first iteration of the simulator tuning algorithm. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Cluster formation and cluster head selection are important problems in sensor network applications and can drastically affect the network's communication energy dissipation. However, selecting the cluster head is not easy in different environments which may have different characteristics. In order to deal with this problem, we have proposed a system for controlling sensor speed in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The proposed system is based on fuzzy logic. We use 4 input linguistic parameters: Remaining Power of Sensor (RPS), Degree of Number of Neighbor Nodes (D3N), Distance from Cluster Centroid (DCC) and Sensor Speed (SS) for selection of the cluster-head and the control of sensor speed. By controlling the sensor speed, we are able to predict whether the node will leave or stay in the cluster. We evaluate the proposed system by simulations and show that the system has a good behavior. © 2012 IEEE.
