This paper considers the problems of stochastic stability and performance analysis for Markovian jump systems interconnected over an undirected graph is considered. A sufficient condition for the well-posedness, stochastic stability and contractive performance of such systems is presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which gives a theoretical foundation for the further research. A numerical simulation is given to show the validity of the results.

This paper presents a technique to integrate WirelessHART devices into Mitsubishi PLC for plant monitoring. The integration between WirelessHART devices and Mitsubishi PLC is based on OPC technologies. DASMTEthernet OPC and DASMBTCP OPC are used to communicate between WirelessHART devices, Mitsubishi PLC and SCADA software. Commercial WirelessHART devices and Mitsubishi PLC are used in experiment. The experimental testing with Pneumatic object moving plant shown the proposed system can monitor pressure and temperature of air compressor and stop the operation of Pneumatic object moving plant when the pressure and temperature of the air compressor are out of defined range. The experimental results illustrated here are useful people interested in the use of measuring multiple parameters for monitoring conditions of industrial plant controlled by Mitsubishi PLC including commercial PLC.

This paper is focused on the estimation for the multi-sensors alignment errors. There are two types of biases being discussed: sensor measurement (systemic) biases and attitude biases. An improved ECEF-KF algorithm is proposed for the estimation of 12-D error vector. Firstly, we develop the state models of fixed systemic biases and slowly time-varying attitude errors. Secondly, the measurements to public target are transformed from body frames into ECEF coordinate system, isolating the motion and rotation of platforms. Thirdly, a Kalman Filter based on linear pseudo-measured function is used to estimate the error state. Simulations demonstrate that the alignment errors can be exactly estimated and the accuracy of target tracking can be dramatically improved by error compensation.

The custom developed bipedal robot does not utilize electric motors as actuators and as a result has the disadvantage of imprecise movements. The robot is inherently unstable and maintain its stability by making steps. The classifiers had to learn when and which leg must be moved in order to maintain stability and locomotion. Methods like: Decision tree, Linear/Quadratic Discriminant, SVM, KNN and Neural Networks were trained. The results of their performance/accuracy are noted.

The purpose of this paper is to enable a developer to easily employ external sensors emitting a one-dimensional signal for flexible robot manipulation. To achieve this, the sensor must be calibrated using data tuples describing the relation between the positional change of the supervised object and the resulting sensor value. This information is used for adaptation methods, thus enabling robots to react flexibly to changes such as workspace variations or object drifts. We present a sensor-independent method to incrementally generate new data tuples describing this relation during multiple task executions. This method is based on the Secant method and is the only generally applicable solution to this problem. The method can be integrated easily into robot programs without detailed knowledge about its functionality.

Automatic age classification has drawn significant interest in plenty of applications such as access control, human-computer interaction, law enforcement and surveillance. Automatic age classification is a challenging task due to the complexity of facial images. A large number of approaches have been investigated on unconstrained datasets. However, most of these approaches have focused on the network architecture rather than the distribution of data, i.e., the extreme class imbalance existing among different age groups as the difficulty of data collection. In this paper, we propose a convolutional neural networks model based on the multi-class focal loss function. Specifically, our approach is designed to address the class imbalance via reshaping the standard cross entropy loss that it down-weights the loss assigned to well-classified examples. We validate our approach on well-known Adience benchmark. Finally, the experimental analysis shows that the proposed model achieves a significant improvement in performance for age classification.

In recent years, the use of robotics to augment MRI diagnostic and interventional procedures has increased significantly. However, the demanding MRI environment precludes the use of most common actuation approaches. Alternative actuation concepts have been proposed but these solutions do not lend themselves to linear control topologies. We present a new actuation method, using the motion of parallel ultrasonic motors combined through a differential mechanism, to address these limitations. A prototype of this device is constructed and evaluated. Results demonstrate the viability of the proposed approach while helping to clarify design improvements to further increase its utility.
