Blood pressure is a critical indicator that should be checked often to avoid hypertension symptoms, suggesting cardiac problems, strokes, and sudden death. Blood pressure should be measured as precisely as possible to provide proper diagnosis and treatment. The manual auscultation method is the gold standard for noninvasive blood pressure monitoring. However, this approach is still regarded as very subjective. Several automation approaches are being developed, including the oscillometric method, ultrasonography, PPG, and automated auscultation. Automated auscultation has been grown since around 2000, but this method is still not as developed as automatic oscillometric. Because the auscultation method is still the primary reference standard and automated methods might minimize blood pressure reading mistakes, this article will explicitly examine the automatic auscultation for blood pressure measurement, especially equipment and signal processing. Further development of automated auscultation will focus on using advanced technology, such as wireless devices and the Internet of Things (IoT).

A set of variable spraying system was designed based on TI's DM8168 cpu, and the cotton field video images were acquired via a webcam and sent to the image processor. The image processor would then give the weed position and variety after the analysis and recognition, pass to the DM8168 spraying equipment, and control the pesticide application of the spraying mechanism. In order to accurately distinguish the cotton from weeds, the deep learning model of Faster R-CNN convolutional network was introduced into the cotton weed image recognition, and a method of optimized structure, which was applicable to the cotton field weed recognition under complex background, was proposed. The test results show that the average target recognition accuracy of this method reaches 94.9%, the average time consumed by single-image recognition is 1.51 s, but it is shortened to 0.09 s after the acceleration through the GPU hardware. With a favorable defection effect on cotton weeds, the proposed method can provide a reference for the development of precise weeding.

With the development of technology, precision guided weapon is becoming more and more important in modern war. In order to launch our recent guidance system on medium and small guided weapons, we propose a method to obtain the LOS rate by combining information from both camera and gyroscope. To be specific, we firstly calculate the body LOS angle through transforming the image pixel coordinate system into the image physical coordinate system according to camera internal parameters;then subtract the missile motion information contained in the measurement signal of the seeker and finally the LOS rate is deduced. Comparing with traditional gimballed seekers, our strap-down seekers with camera have significantly reduced costs and influences caused by external environments on platform. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Recently, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology is booming in the industrial field. More and more industrial devices begin to connect to the internet. Compared with cloud computing, edge computing can well shorten the delay time on information transmission and improve the Quality of Service (QoS) of task computing, which promotes the development of the industrial Internet of things (IIoT) to some extent. The state-of-the-art edge computing service providers are specifically designed for customized applications. In our previous work, we proposed a blockchain-based toll collection system for edge resource sharing to improve the utility of these Edge Nodes (ENs). We provide a transparent, quick, and cost-efficient solution to encourage the participation of edge service providers. However, there exists a debatable issue since the system contains a centralized proxy. In this paper, we introduce the consortium blockchain to record the results of the service matching process in order to solve the issue. Besides, we propose a service matching algorithm for IIoT devices to select the optimal node and implement it using smart contract. © 2020, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

A novel semiautomatic ribbon roads extraction method for high spatial resolution remotely sensed (HSRRS) imagery based on self-adaptively variable bandwidth template matching is proposed in this letter. At first, a human operator inputs three seed points to initialize the position of the road, including the starting points, road width and road direction. Then, a rectangular template is used to estimate the best way forward point by the template matching, so the automatic extraction is triggered. According to the actual road conditions, the method can increase or decrease the width of the rectangle template self-adaptively to extract complex roads by building four small rectangle templates. To finish the whole road network, the above tracking process is repeated. UCX aerial imagery are used to validate our methods, and the results show that compared with traditional profile template matching algorithm, our method not only decreases the number of tracing errors and manual intervention times significantly, but also improves the accuracy and efficiency of the semiautomatic extraction road. © 2019 IEEE.

The industrial revolution 4.0 has developed and become a trend by combining automation technology and cyber technology. The more industry 4.0 develops, the more developed the simulation modeling system needed in all scientific fields. The new concept that can bring simulation modeling to the digital realm is needed. Virtual Engineering is a new technological development concept in simulation modeling. 3D modeling using real-world objects is a form of Virtual Engineering. Manipulating a 3D model requires an asset and a system to integrate assets into the virtual world. However, currently there is no system that can integrate assets automatically with the cyberspace. In this research, asset development is made to assist users in providing and managing assets and integrating assets automatically into the virtual world. The system has three parts, namely an asset development application, an application to provide assets through 3D scanning, a turntable system to help users perform scanning, and a 3D library system to manage assets and integrate them into the Virtual Engineering platform. Based on the test result, it was found that 3D scanning with a turntable required the fastest time that could be obtained by 34 seconds for an object weighing 500 grams. The optimal distance for the camera to scan an object is 28 cm. The 3D Library system uses the MongoDB database to integrate assets into the Virtual Engineering platform, and the system has been successfully connected to the Virtual Engineering platform. © 2020 IEEE.

Human-Robot Interactions have to be more human like and human-human communications are multimodal interactions. In general communication, humans tend to use multiple modalities at a time to convey a message through. Multimodal interactions could be in many modalities such as gestures, speech, gaze and etc. Major multimodal human-human combination is the speech-hand gesture interaction. Hand gestures are used in a diverse range in these interactions. They add different meanings and enhance the understanding of the complete interaction in multiple dimensions. Purpose of this paper is to conduct a comprehensive analysis on multimodal relationship of speech-hand gesture interaction and its effect on the true meaning of interactions. Therefore this paper will focus on different aspects of each modality with regards to multimodal interactions such as vocal uncertainties, static and dynamic hand gestures, deictic, redundant and unintentional gestures, their timeline parameters, hand features and etc. Furthermore this paper discuss the effect of each speech-gesture parameter on understanding of the vocal ambiguities. Complete analysis of these aspects was conducted through detailed human study and results are interpreted through above multimodal aspects. Further vocal commands are analyzed using different vocal categories and different types of uncertainties. Hand gestures are analyzed though timeline parameters and hand feature analysis. For the timeline analysis, parameters were decided from the feedback of the participants on effectiveness of each parameter. Lag time, speed of the gesture movements and range of the gesture were considered for the timeline analysis.

Device to Device communication technique allows user equipment to communicate directly without the use of base stations. This helps to increase energy efficiency, throughput and hence reduces the cellular traffic in LTE-A networks. This paper mainly focuses on energy efficiency enhancement in LTE-Advanced networks for device to device communication. To enhance the energy efficiency, different power control techniques are explored considering the Quality of Service (QoS) parameters for both device to device and cellular users. Using different mode selection schemes, power control techniques are proposed using branch and bound algorithm. This paper helps to investigate how the proposed energy efficient techniques affect cellular network performance.
