α-algorithm is able to discover a large class of workflow (WF) nets based on the behavior recorded in event logs, with the main limiting assumption that the event log is complete. Our research has been aimed at finding ways of business process models discovering based on examples of traces, i.e., logs of workflow actions that do not meet the requirement of completeness. In this aim, we have modified the existing and introduced a new relation between activities recorded in the event log, which has led to a partial correction of the process models discovering techniques, including the α-algorithm. We have also introduced the notions of causally and weakly complete logs, from which our modified algorithm can produce the same result as the original algorithm from complete logs. The effect of these modifications on the speed of the process model discovering is mostly evident for business processes in which many activities can be performed in parallel. Therefore, this paper presents preliminary results obtained from the investigation of opportunities to discover models of parallel processes based on incomplete event logs.

In the requirements definition phase, conceptual models are used to understand the developing software. Although scenarios are often described on the basis of conceptual models, there are cases that necessary requirements are omitted in the scenarios when the scenarios are created manually. Herein we propose an approach to support scenario creation from conceptual models where event lists of scenarios, which include checkpoints to define requirements, are generated from conceptual models automatically. The conceptual models represent the core resources of the software, the owner of the core resources, and use cases as class diagrams. Then software engineers and their clients arrange the event lists and define requirements as scenarios on the basis of the checkpoints. Our approach can support describing scenarios with all the necessary requirements from conceptual models. To confirm the effectiveness of our approach, we compared our approach to the all-manual approach.

In complex and collaborative ecosystems like business networks, different partners need to share their respective expert knowledge in order to be successful. Due to the diversity of business applications and highly customized application suites used by business partners, knowledge exchange and the establishment of interoperability between enterprise applications is extremely difficult. Different representations and meanings of enterprise data lead to incomprehensibility between partners inside collaborative environments. This paper presents an model-driven approach to support sustainable interoperability for enterprise applications in collaborative environments. Based on an event-driven architecture, Knowledge Links enable dynamic modelling of knowledge transformations between knowledge domains. They keep background consistency between the connected domains, thus making enterprise applications interoperable. Knowledge Links can be created and modified at any time, which enables sustainable interoperability. Business partners are able to rely on their enterprise applications and don't need to switch to another system. Sensitive data stays covert due to the nature of modular ontologies. The presented approach is exemplified in the context of the OSMOSE Project and will be evaluated by the proof-of-concept scenarios in this Project.

The competition inherent to globalisation has led enterprises to gather in nests of specialised business providers with the purpose of building better applications and provide more complete solutions. This, added to the improvements on the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), led to a paradigm shift from product-centrism to service-centrism and to the need to communicate and interoperate. Traditional segments like banking, insurance and aerospace subcontract a large number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that are undergoing this change, and must ensure the criticality and accuracy of their business is not affected or impacted in any way. This also is an excellent motivation for improving the capabilities for capturing the knowledge about businesses, not only their processes and methods but also their surrounding environment. The EU co-funded FP7 TIMBUS project comprises tools and techniques to improve business continuity featuring an intelligent strategy for digital preservation of business assets and environments based on risk-management. This paper proposes the modelling of service-based business information capturing strategies to help in the proper establishment of a knowledge base that permits a seamless interoperability between enterprises.

Capturing traceability information among artifacts allows for assuring product quality in many ways such as tracking functional and non-functional requirements, performing system validation and impact analysis. Although literature provides many techniques to model traceability, existing solutions are either tailored to specific domains (e.g., Ecore modeling languages), or not complete enough (e.g., lack support to specify traceability link semantics). This paper examines the current traceability models and identifies the drawbacks that prevent from capturing some traceability information of heterogeneous artifacts. In this context, heterogeneous artifacts refer to artifacts that come from widely different modelling notations (e.g., UML, Simulink, natural language text, source code). Additionally, the paper proposes traceability model requirements that are necessary to build a generic traceability model. We argue that the proposed requirements are sufficient to build a traceability model oblivious of the heterogeneity of the models which elements need to be traced. We also argue that our proposed requirements can be adopted to create a generic traceability model that provides flexibility and can accommodate new ways of characterizing and imposing constraints on trace links or systems artifacts. The proposed requirements incorporate the ideas from many existing solutions in literature, in an attempt to be as complete as possible.

Clinical safety checklists receive much research attention since they can reduce medical errors and improve patient safety. Computerized checklist support systems are also being developed actively. Such systems should individualize checklists based on information from the patient's medical record while also considering the context of the clinical workflows. Unfortunately, the form definitions, database queries and workflow definitions related to dynamic checklists are too often hard-coded in the source code of the support systems. This increases the cognitive effort for the clinical stakeholders in the design process, it complicates the sharing of dynamic checklist definitions as well as the interoperability with other information systems. In this paper, we address these issues by contributing the DCCSS meta-model which enables the model-based development of dynamic checklist support systems. DCCSS was designed as an incremental extension of standard meta-models, which enables the reuse of generic model editors in a novel setting. In particular, DCCSS integrates the Business Process model and Notation (BPMN) and the Guideline Interchange Format (GLIF), which represent best of breed languages for clinical workflow modeling and clinical rule modeling respectively. We also demonstrate one of the use cases where DCCSS has already been applied in a clinical setting.

Recently, Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) becomes one of the most popular choices for uncertainty modeling and has been widely used in software engineering such as defect prediction, reliability and quality prediction, testing effort prediction and software risk assessment. The Node Probability Tables (NPT) play a vital role in BBN. Failure data is not available in the early phases (i.e., phases which occur before testing phase) of software development life cycle (SDLC). However, metrics of early phases of SDLC can be assessed qualitatively. Therefore, an intelligent selection of software metrics also plays a vital role in developing a software defect prediction model using BBN. In this paper, a technique has been proposed to develop the NPT of a BBN using the qualitative value of software metrics.

this paper presents an improvement algorithm of model Predictive Control (MPC) for the quasi Z-Source Inverter (qZSI) with a standalone system. The improved algorithm decreases number of the desired sensors from five into three, where it just needs two current sensors for measuring the AC currents, and another voltage sensor for capacitor voltage detection. The inductor current will be estimated according to the previous optimized state and the capacitor voltage value during this state. Moreover, the developed algorithm decreases the number of the calculations for the inductor current prediction. Thus, the total cost of the control system decreases;furthermore, the practical implementation for the algorithm is improved where short running time. The developed algorithm will be investigated with the theoretical analysis in addition to the simulation validation based on MATLAB/SIMULINK as environmental software.

Domain analysis is important to core assets development in software product line (SPL) engineering, and in software-as-a-service (SaaS) engineering. Traditional methods of domain analysis, however, are heavily based on manual labor. They depend on domain experts' experience to analyze the commonality and variability of systems in a domain, which appears to be an obstacle for many organizations which tend to provide SaaS service or to launch a software product line (SPL). In this paper, we propose a new approach to automatically extract the semantic information from software requirements specifications (SRSs). We address this issue by combining techniques of semantic role labeling and domain knowledge modeling. In this approach, we selected frequent verbs from software requirement specification documents in the e-commerce domain, and built the semantic frames for those verbs. Then the selected sentences were labeled manually and the result was used as training examples for machine learning. To obtain the accurate features of the examples we correct the parsing result of Stanford Parser with the help of domain knowledge. During the labeling process, we adopt a sequential way in which the previous labeled results will be used to construct dynamic features for the identification of the subsequent semantic roles. The proposed approach was implemented and evaluated. The preliminary result shows the approach is effective and reliable. The extracted semantic information can be used to model the variability and commonality of functional requirements in the domain engineering.
