Recently, inexact computing has gained a lot of interest in modern computational systems since it can improve the use of resources particularly when the exact precision is not critical. Here, the proposed 24-bit Approximate Ripple Carry Adder (ARCA) features a hybrid design based on simplified logic operations that embed approximate computation for LSBs and exact computation for MSBs. This method significantly reduces the power consumption, footprint, and latency of traditional precision adders. Extensive simulations reveal that ARCA outperforms its competitors with regard to resource savings while preserving almost all the computational precision. The results clearly indicate that our approach reduces power consumption by 27%, delay by 29%, and area by 25% compared to traditional ripple carry adders. The above results demonstrate the effectiveness of ARCA in many resource-constrained applications, including embedded systems, digital signal processing, machine learning, and multimedia.

In the field of secure medical data processing significant research is going on. In this paper, a Fuzzy algorithm-based Fog centric approach for diverse Medical Data processing has been proposed. This innovative approach yields enhances the transmission of vital multimedia healthcare data in real-time. The aim is to enhance healthcare services by enhancing QoS across diverse networks by Fog computing and Fuzzy rule based medical data processing. These algorithms encompassing fuzzification, processing using triangular membership function, fuzzy rules mapping, Defuzzification, optimal gateway selection, and the enhancement of transmission quality via factors like throughput, end-to-end delay, and jitter. Here, a proposed algorithm has gone through rigorous simulation executed on MATLAB R2018b. A comprehensive evaluation reveals a remarkable enhancement in Quality of Service (QoS), reaching an impressive 83.6%.

Assuring the correct temporal presentation of multimedia objects is called multimedia synchronization. How to specify the temporal relations in multimedia objects is one of the main issues in the research of multimedia synchronization. This paper examines how many and which temporal relations in multimedia systems. On the basis of it, we propose an interval-based generalized synchronization model, which can be used to specify all temporal relations in multimedia systems.

Energy consumption has become a key issue from small embedded devices to large-scale data centers. Recent studies are used to study the problem of minimizing the schedule length while satisfying the energy consumption constraint of parallel applications by transferring the energy constraint of the application to that of each task based on the dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technique. State-of-the-art algorithm has proposed an efficient scheduling algorithm using a relative average assignments for tasks. However, the method still does not reach the limit of the minimum scheduling length. In this study, we propose an efficient and provable scheduling algorithm using a relative weighed average assignments for tasks. A large number of experiments show that the proposed algorithm not only the energy consumption constraint pretty close but not over, but also the schedule length becomes shorter. © 2018 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).

With the fast development of multimedia technology, efficient management of multimedia data has become more and more important. In this paper, a multimedia database is established. It has used hypermedia and object-oriented technology. Besides that, to realize intelligent retrieval such as semantic retrieval, I add a simple expert system into it. It can manage multimedia information such as sounds, images, texts and videos efficiently.

We describe computational treatments of archival collections through a case study of World War II Japanese-American Incarceration Camps. Camp staff and police officers compiled so-called "internal security" reports relating to alleged cases of "disorderly conduct, assault, theft, loss of property, and accidents" in the camps, and an index to these reports comprising over 25,000 index cards to the reports. The sheer size of these collections is pushing archivists and researchers to consider new forms of processing for collections at scale. We discuss novel digital treatments that involve (1) processing incident cards at scale in an automated way, (2) preserving and documenting the record series and their operations using an Archival Information Package (AIP), and (3) developing social network -based archiving, analysis, and visualization of the col-lection. Since this type of project involves multiple partnerships, agreements, and social interactions with community groups and public -sector organizations, we discuss the possibility of the concept of sociotechnical archival systems as an implication of our approach.

From the early days of multimedia communication development, ITU-T has paid much attention to establish standard systems and to consummate them. This is necessary in the process of turning into the world of Information Highway. In this paper, the authors conclude systematically the ITU-T Recommendation H series and T series on Audio-graphic and audio-visual multimedia services according to the research works on multimedia communication which our research lab has been doing these years as well as our experience of participating the research and discussion works of ITU-T standard files on image and multimedia communication which was held by the telecommunication department in order to establish our country's own corresponding standards.

Our purpose is, in medium term, to recognize Chinese character images with great accuracy and low rate of mistakes. However, we also want to value whether the link between neural networks and multi-agents systems is relevant and effective. After a first phase of preliminary tests to know if agents are able to give relevant information to a neural network, we verify that only a few agents running on an input image are enough to inform the network and let it generalize the agents' distributed and fragmented knowledge. In a second phase, we developed a distributed architecture allowing several mutli-agents systems running at the same time on different computers. All those agents send information to a "multi neural networks system" whose job is to identify the Chinese number detected by the agents.

Orthogonal sequence set has good in-phase cross-correlation (IPCC) property and then receives wide application in code division multiple access communications. However, it is well known that the number of orthogonal sequences is not larger than sequence length. In order to obtain more sequences, the IPCC property will have to be decreased. In this paper, a method to increase the number of orthogonal sequences is proposed on the basis of the shifted m-sequence. By considering a given orthogonal sequence set as an original orthogonal sequence subset, multiple orthogonal sequence subsets with the same sequence length and subset size can be constructed. The combination set of these constructed orthogonal sequence subsets and original orthogonal sequence subset will possess much more sequences since the number of sequences will be increased from N to the square of N. In addition, the constructed multiple orthogonal sequence subsets satisfy that intra-subset IPCC is equal to zero and the normalized inter-subset IPCC is not larger than 0.5. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.
