Winner-take-all is a general building block commonly used in computational models of the brain,particularly for distributed cortex processing;e.g.,hierarchical models of vision,models of selective attention and *** was formally proven to be computationally powerful compared to other nonlinear operations,such as thresholding.K-winners-take-all is a generalization of winner-take-all with multiple *** their logical representability and biological plausibility,K-winners-take-all has been widely used in various applications,such as decoding,sorting,filtering,feature extraction,clustering,classification,machine vision,signal processing,image processing,associative memories,and mobile robot *** the last twenty years,many K-winners-take-all neural networks and circuits have been designed and analyzed with reduced complexity and improved *** this talk,I will start with the mathematical problem formulations of the K-winners-take-all solutions via neurodynamic optimization,then present several K-winners-take-all networks with reducing model complexity based on our neurodynamic optimization ***,we will focus on the one with the simplest model *** Mate Carlo simulation results will be shown to demonstrate the computing performance and parametric *** applications to parallel sorting,rank-order filtering,and web information retrieval will be discussed.

Next generation wireless networks environment consists of heterogeneous wireless technologies, offering mobility service. The objective is to exploit the popularity and the high data rates offered by wireless networks such as WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) or WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) to enhance cellular services i.e. UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System). In this context, mobile terminal has to make several handoff decisions while moving between these technologies. In this paper we propose using the emerging IEEE802.21 standard defines Media Independent Handover (MIH) functions as transport service in order to offer a vertical handoff decision with a minimum of processing delay.

Powerful grid and cluster computers allow efficient distributed simulation. Optimistic simulation techniques have been developed which allow for more parallelism in the local simulations than conservative methods. However, they may require costly rollbacks in simulation time due to dependencies between model parts that cause violations of global causality. Different notions of time have been proposed to detect and remedy these situations. Logical time (or Lamport time) is used in many present-day distributed simulation algorithms. However, high-level colored Petri nets may contain global activity priorities, vanishing states, and global state dependencies. Thus virtual time is not sufficient to maintain the global chronological order of events for the optimistic simulation of this model class. The paper presents a new approach that guarantees a correct ordering of global states in a distributed Petri net simulation. A priority-enhanced vector time algorithm is used to detect causal dependencies.

Due to the characteristics of P2P systems, SQL query processing in these systems is more complex than traditional distributed DBMS. In this context, semantic and structural heterogeneity of local schemas prevent peers to exchange their data in a comprehensive way. Schema heterogeneity could lead to incorrect answers for the localization query. Furthermore, in the optimization phase, the lack of information and the obsolete statistics found in local catalogs make the execution plan suboptimal. In this paper, we propose a new approach to SQL query processing in P2P environments. The main features of proposed approach are: (i) Avoiding any centralized structures of the peers participating in the system, (ii) Integrating a Domain Ontology which ensures a comprehensive data exchange in Chord protocol that guarantees efficient locating of data sources, and (iii) Extending the localization phase to be able to obtain information needed in the optimization phase. This information is more reliable than the statistics found in the local catalogs. We describe our approach in detail with examples.

In this paper, we designed and implemented a High-Level Abstract parallel Programming Platform that relieves the programmer from all the hassle involved in parallel programming. That is, what is requested from the programmer is only to specify the program is a suitable form that hides many of the hardware features. All the parallel processes control, that were very challenging, are hence assumed by the platform itself. To date, only three parallel programming approaches were suggested in the literature: Implicit, explicit and systematic parallel programming. Among the paradigms that are part of the third approach, we preferred to use the GAMMA formalism as a backbone for our implementation mainly for two reasons: First, it uses an unstructured data set, which has the benefit of reducing the data dependency to its lowest possible level and second, the program correctness can be easily demonstrated. A GAMMA program is generally defined as a pair of , where the elements that fulfill the condition are substituted with the product of the action. The program is naturally and systematically executed in parallel. However, to date, no attempt was made to provide a physical implementation of the GAMMA formalism. As an application for our implemented platform, we suggested to parallelize some classical GIS image decomposition problems. The obtained results showed that, in addition to the ease and abstract way of parallel programming, an almost linear speedup is achieved.

With the development of high-performance embedded applications, object detection algorithms are starting to be deployed to embedded devices with fewer resources, and the classification and location information they provide is the basis for making further decisions in some high-performance embedded applications, so real-time and low-power consumption are especially needed. In this paper, we propose an FPGA-based neural network ac-celerator for object detection, which improves the speed, throughput and power efficiency of the inference with little loss of accuracy. The accelerator balances the speed difference between computation and memory access. The accelerator is scalable and can be configured for CNN of any size, and is general enough to support the acceleration of YOLOv2, YOLOv3 and their Tiny versions. We deploy the Tiny YOLOv3 network on FPGA-based accelerator, CPU and GPU platforms, and compare them in terms of speed, throughput and power efficiency. For the Tiny YOLOv3 network, the accelerator delivers an FPS of 1.61 and throughput of 8.95 GOP/s, which is 23.81x, 4.11x and 3.00x better than the Intel Core i5-10210U CPU with the 00, 01 and O3 compilation optimization options respectively. With 2.11 W of power, the accelerator delivers a power efficiency of 4.24 GOP/s/W, which is 141.33x, 28.27x and 21.20x better than the Intel Core i5-10210U CPU with the 00, O1 and O3 options respectively.

This paper is dedicated to developing real-time MEPG-4 parallel encoder on software distributed shared memory systems. Basically, the performance of a MPEG-4 parallel encoder implemented on distributed systems is mainly determined by the latency of data synchronization and disk I/O, and the cost of data computation. For reducing the impact of data synchronization latency, we invent a pipeline algorithm to minimize the number of data synchronization points necessary for video encoding. In addition, we employ a master-slave node structure to overlay computation and I/O in order for alleviating the impact of I/O latency. On the other hand, we propose a two-level partitioning method to minimize the cost of data computation, and overlap the encoding times of two different GOVs. We have implemented the proposed MPEG-4 encoder on a test bed called Teamster. The experimental results show the proposed MPEG-4 encoder has successfully met the requirement of real time through the support of previous techniques via 32 SMP machines, which are equipped with dual 1.5 GHz Itanium II processors per node and connected by Gigabit Ethernet.

Clusters built from single-core systems are cost-effective as for the performance improvement and availability. However, the hardware constraints put limitations on the performance of single-core systems. Hence, it is difficult to meet with the increasing high performance requirements of diversified applications at different levels for general purpose computing. A promising feasible solution is the novice multi-core systems which extend the parallelism to CPU level by integrating multiple processing units on a single die. This paper uses finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm as a case study, designing suitable parallel FDTD algorithms for three architectures: distributed-memory machines with single-core processors, shared-memory machines with dual-core processors, and the Cell Broadband Engine (Cell/B.E.) processor with nine heterogeneous cores. The experiment results show that the Cell/B.E. processor using 8 SPEs achieves a significant speedups of 7.05 faster than AMD single-core Opteron processor and 3.37 than AMD dual-core Opeteron processor at the processor level.

From the post-Renaissance period to the twentieth century, the traditional Western corset has played an important role in the transformation of Western clothing and has played an integral part in its development. The unique form and structure of the Western corset affected women’s bodies and endangered their health. The article selects the 18th century corset in the VampersandA Museum’s collection as the object of study and constructs a virtual model of it through CLO 3D software, which is capable of completing the digital conversion of the relationship between clothing and the human body, and explores the impact of the corset on the human body through more concrete experiments and more intuitive data. The effect of the corset on the human body is explored through more concrete experiments.

In Software Effort Estimation (SEE) practice, the data drought problem has been plaguing researchers and practitioners. Leveraging heterogeneous SEE data collected by other companies is a feasible solution to relieve the data drought problem. However, how to make full use of the heterogeneous effort data to conduct SEE, which is called as Heterogeneous Software Effort Estimation (HSEE), has not been well studied. In this paper, we propose a HSEE model, called Dynamic Heterogeneous Software Effort Estimation (i.e., DHSEE), which leverages the adversarial auto-encoder and convolutional neural network techniques. Meanwhile, we have investigated the scenario of conducting HSEE with dynamically increasing effort data. Experiments on ten public datasets indicate that our approach can significantly outperform the state-of-the-art HSEE method and other competing methods on both static and dynamic SEE scenarios. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
