This review explores recent advancements that are made in remote sensing, enabling detailed analysis of our ecosystem through high resolution and multispectral imaging. The recent advancements in remote sensing includes developments useful for generation of synthetic images using GAN such as StyleGAN3 and for estimation of carbon stocks in forest using OBIA. Ecotones like mangroves and saltmarsh are crucial for carbon sequestration but mapping them accurately was challenging due to spectral similarity and seasonal variations. Focusing on coastal protection by this review examines the mapping methodologies such as random forest classification, OBIA and FID for habitat distinction, canopy area assessment and analysis. Through these technologies data accuracy can be enhanced for better monitoring. This review concludes with a discussion of AI-powered image synthesis and classification. © 2025 IEEE.

The conventional line of machine translation (MT) has been revolutionized by the advent of large language models (LLMs) that have dramatically increased translation performance on multi languages. In this survey, we conduct a thorough analysis of how and why LLMs have both developed and been applied to the problem of machine translation. The paper investigates these basic models including Transformer, mBART, and GPT, as well as recent advances such as zero shot and few shot learning capabilities. Multilingual translation, domain adaptation and dealing with low resource languages are all given special treatment. We discuss key challenges, like scalability, model interpretability, and bias mitigation, and potential solutions. The survey also sheds light on how MT is merging with emotion detection, in real time translation and surprisingly, integrating multimodal inputs from humans. In general, this work seeks to provide a view into the current landscape concerning opportunities and potential future directions with which LLMs can augment existing machine translation systems. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents an overview for the Special Issue of Clean Technology and Environmental Policy journal (CTEP), and it includes accepted papers from: 5th South East European conferences on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) held from May 22-26, 2022, in Vlore, Albania. 3rd Latin American conferences on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) held from July 24-28, 2022, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 17th conferences on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) held from November 6-10, 2022, in Paphos, Cyprus. Considering CTEP's policy of high-quality research papers, guest editors have invited 35 research articles, presented at the SDEWES 2022 conference. After a vigorous review process, 13 papers have been accepted for publication in this special issue. All 13 accepted papers are briefly presented in this overview together with a wider view that presents research efforts within the SDEWES community published through previous SDEWES special issues.

Cable-driven hyper-redundant robotic arms (CHRA) are robotic arms with redundant degrees of freedom (DOF), inspired by snake-like biomimicry principles, utilizing cables as the driving mechanism. Compared to traditional rigid robotic arms, CHRA showcase unparalleled advantages in complex and confined application scenarios such as aerospace engines, aircraft fuel tanks, space stations, and nuclear power plant pipelines. Furthermore, they boast a wide range of potential applications and currently stand as a prominent research topic in the field of robotics. This paper provides a comprehensive review of CHRA in recent years, analyzing and summarizing the technologies and scientific issues associated with these arms from four perspectives: driving methods, modeling approaches, trajectory planning, and control. We conclude by summarizing the challenges currently faced by CHRA, providing insights into their future prospects, and shedding light on their evolving trends in the field of robotics.

This paper addresses the challenges faced by Indian languages in leveraging deep learning for natural language processing (NLP) due to limited resources, annotated datasets, and Transformer-based architectures. We specifically focus on Telugu and aim to construct a Telugu morph analyzer dataset comprising 10,000 sentences. Furthermore, we assess the performance of established multilingual Transformer models (m-Bert, XLM-R, IndicBERT) and mono-lingual Transformer model BERT-Te (trained from scratch on an extensive Telugu corpus comprising 80,15,588 sentences). Our findings demonstrate the efficacy of Transformer-based representations pre-trained on Telugu data improved the performance of the Telugu morph analyzer, surpassing existing multi-lingual approaches. This highlights the necessity of developing dedicated corpora, annotated datasets, and machine learning models in a mono-lingual setting. Using our dataset, we present benchmark results for the Telugu morph analyzer achieved through simple fine-tuning on BERT-Te. One major neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects the senior citizen and pre-elderly population is Alzheimer's disease. advances in AI-enhanced detection for Alzheimer's disease have been spurred by recent developments in MRI technology, raising hopes for early detection and prompt therapies. This advancement has made it possible to create complicated models and algorithms that can analyse imaging data, improving the efficiency and accuracy of diagnosis. It gives rise to hope for the groundbreaking possibilities in transforming the management of Alzheimer's disease and more successful treatment plans and better patient outcomes. This article aims to give a thorough overview of current advancements in DL techniques used to classify different stages of Alzheimer's disease based on brain MRI scans, with a focus on early diagnosis. It also discusses possible obstacles and future research possibilities, highlighting the shortcomings of the current research. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, the rapid growth of the Internet and mobile devices has led to a significant expansion of e-commerce, which has become deeply integrated into social life and made substantial contributions to the economy. To enhance the efficiency and diversity of e-commerce activities, there has been considerable research interest in the application of supportive techniques and technologies. This paper explores the use of machine learning to improve recommendation systems by analyzing purchase history and user emotions expressed in product reviews. A model was proposed and validated using datasets collected from e-commerce platforms. The study evaluated the model's effectiveness using Accuracy, Recall, and F1 metrics. Experimental results indicate that the SVM algorithm provides the best prediction performance, effectively aligning with user needs. These findings suggest that the model can be applied across various e-commerce platforms to enhance product and service recommendations for users. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Currently, colonizing space is the next step for humanity. However, it has many challenges to be completed before reaching this goal. Thus, multiple fields of study have been developed to solve some of the problems to live out on Earth such as a source of renewable food. For this reason, the Center for space Emerging technologies (C-SET) has been working on projects to contribute to the research of this task with this project, which is an automatized cultivation system to study the effect of simulated microgravity in plants with the highest precision reducing human intervention or error. In addition, many parts of this system can be easily made by current technologies like 3D printers or CNC machines. This project presents a conceptual design of the system focusing on water storage, selective irrigation, and improvement of the simulation (fixing system), besides the parts designed are the simplest to give good maintenance. This system is pretended to be applied to cherry tomatoes to analyze the correct functionating of the machine in simulated microgravity at the same time that biological assays will be done to the sample as a part of a complete project. In conclusion, if favorable results were achieved;consequently, the next step of this project is to reduce the human intervention with camera sensors to record the times of growth, flowering, and fruit ripening, at the same time, developing and improving the method to refill the water container. © 2023 IEEE.

Applications of Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) has been phenomenally increased in recent times, there by establishing the need for accurate HSI analysing techniques. The major and primary challenges observed in analysing HSI is that the data is of very high spatial and spectral resolution and hence, generates the need for dimensionality reduction techniques in the pre-processing stage. This paper focuses on understanding the role and impact of different dimensionality reduction techniques when working on different machine learning techniques in classifying the hyperspectral image. We used agricultural, urban and mixed land cover datasets to evaluate the performance of dimensionality reduction techniques and their impact on machine learning based classification. © 2023 IEEE.
