Due to the massive amount of network parameters and great demand for computational resources, large-scale neural networks, especially deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), can be inconvenient to implement for many real world applications. Therefore, sparsifying deep and densely connected neural networks is becoming a more and more important topic in the computer vision field for addressing these limitations. This paper starts from a very deep CNN trained for face recognition, then explores sparsifying neuron connections for network compression. We propose an activation-based weight significance criterion which estimates the contribution that each weight makes in the activations of the neurons in the next layer, then removes those weights that make least contribution first. A concise but effective procedure is devised for pruning parameters of densely connected neural networks. In this procedure, one neuron is sparsified at a time, and a requested amount of parameters related to this neuron is removed. Applying the proposed method, we greatly compressed the size of a large-scale neural network without causing any loss in recognition accuracy. Furthermore, our experiments show that this procedure can work with different weight significance criterions for different expectations.

Cloud computing can provide scalable computing power, storage space, and information services for a variety of applications. It has dynamic scalability, fault-tolerance and availability, which require a large number of nodes to provide support. Providing corresponding compensation mechanisms for the participating nodes can increase their enthusiasm for participating in service support. In order to provide customers with the use of cloud resources measurement and costs to better promote the development of cloud services. This paper proposes a cloud service billing system. The resource collector periodically collects resource usage information, and transmitted to the billing. The billing will calculate the corresponding resource consumption based on these data, and store these records in the database to provide user management. The resource rates vary dynamically based on the current infrastructure load and service quality. After test, this system only has partial errors in CPU billing due to the long statistical interval(1 second). The accuracy of the rest reached 95%.

Most recommendation algorithms assume that an account represents a single user, and capture a user’s interest by what he/she has preferred. However, in some applications, e.g., video recommendation on smart TVs, an account is often shared by multiple users who tend to have disparate interests. It poses great challenges for delivering personalized recommendations. In this paper, we propose the concept of profile coherence to measure the coherence of an account’s interests, which is computed as the average similarity between items in the account profile in our implementation. Furthermore, we evaluate the impact of profile coherence on the quality of recommendation lists for coherent and incoherent accounts generated by different variants of item-based collaborative filtering. Experiments conducted on a large-scale watch log on smart TVs conform that the profile coherence indeed impact the quality of recommendation lists in various aspects—accuracy, diversity and popularity. © Springer international Publishing AG 2017.

The study on the acoustic radiation model of transformer is very important for the noise radiation prediction of substation. The equivalent source method(ESM) is an approach to substitutebody structure noise with a series of point sound sources, which is applicable to building the acoustic model of transformer. However, there are some limitations on the calculation speed when using genetic algorithm to solve equivalent source intensities of the transformer. In this paper, transformer's equivalent acoustic model is calculated by least square method, and the computing speed is compared between the genetic algorithm and the least square method. The computing speed of least square method is found 200 times of that of the genetic *** is proved that least square method is more suitable for engineering applications than genetic algorithm.

An optimal discrete controller is presented in this paper for contour error control using the standard linear quadratic(LQ) method, upon which the offset loss function and the control loss function were considered to attain a relatively good compromise. The weight coefficient for the control loss and the optimal discrete sampling period are garnered, then a zero phase error tracking controller(ZPETC) is designed with the disturbance observer(DOB) to improve the anti-interference capability and the robustness of the system. The proposed methods are capable of enhancing the stability and rapidity of the discrete controller and reducing the contour error of the system. The results may be valuable for various trajectory tracking control applications.

This paper deals with the project that deals with the development of a robot, particularly a Board Of Education bot that is controlled via an android application. The robot is built in such a way that it can be controlled both using manual keys of a laptop and an android application from which the commands will be transferred to the robots chassis using the Bluetooth communication module. The same will be functional using speech commands that will be passed onto the robot using the same procedure. The robot will also behave like a maze following bot and will continue to maneuver itself in a domain or an area that is filled with obstacles without collision into any of them. The obstacle avoidance or the maze following will he implemented using the Infrared Sensors. Finally a line following module is implemented along with the maze following module by integrating Charge Transfer Infrared sensors which is further combined with the path finding PointBug algorithm in order to fine the optimal path from the source to the target by colliding with the obstacles and finding the minimum distance from the source to the target each time it meets with a collision with any of the obstacles. In addition to it the robot can also be controlled using the accelerometer functionalities. The entire project is developed in such a way that it is capable of traversing to the target location by avoiding all types of obstacles and moving on an optimized path and leading to significant results both with respect to time and energy and thereby implementing the latest technology in order to make the system to be controlled using Android, Bluetooth, speech and path finding algorithms to introduce intelligence into the control system to make suitable decisions at a particular instance of time so that the user is capable of reaching the target location without any type of interference or assistance from additional aids.

Nowadays, bar code recognition technology is widely used for separating expresses in the market. There are many problems that exists in express logistics industry such as low level of intelligence and low sorting efficiency. Aiming at the above problems, the paper proposed a rotary storing-and-separating device based on Radio Frequency Identification technology(RFID). The device structural composition usage and the principle and structure of RFID are expounded. The three-dimensional(3 D)model and its auxiliary structure of the device are designed by the CATIA software. In order to improve the intelligence level of logistics industry, the paper proposed a newly designed express logistics network which is based on the rotary storing-and-separating device and applies to RFID. The software and the hardware of the express identification system are designed. From the aspect of the system hardware, the electronic tag and the module of reader designed based on the RFID. The rotary storing-and-separating device based on RFID that proposed in the paper can do good to improve the intelligence level of logistics industry and the express sorting efficiency.

Ubiquitous healthcare has become one of the prominent areas of research in order to address the challenges encountered in healthcare environment. Ubiquitous healthcare requires networks of intelligent sensor nodes that could be deployed "by all anywhere and anytime" and is a permanent part of the human presence. Management of systemic diseases via technology based ubiquitous patient monitoring services has been widely proposed as a viable option for economizing healthcare resources, and providing efficient, quality healthcare. Ubiquitous sensors, devices and networks are paving the way towards a smart world in which computational intelligence is apply at all levels of the physical environment to provide reliable and relevant services to patients. This ubiquitous intelligence will change the computing landscape and environment around the patient, because it will enable new breeds of applications and systems to be developed and the realm of computing possibilities will be significantly extended. By enhancing everyday objects with intelligence, many tasks and processes could be simplified. The physical spaces where patients interact like the homes and hospitals could become more efficient, safer and more enjoyable. Ubiquitous computing, or pervasive computing, uses these many "smart things" to create smart environments, services and applications. The Internet of Things is a new concept for telecommunication development. The Ubiquitous sensor Network is one of the general components of Internet of Things. A smart thing can be endowed with different levels of intelligence, and may be context-aware, active, interactive, reactive, proactive, assistive, adaptive, automated, sentient, perceptual, cognitive, autonomic and/or thinking. Research on ubiquitous intelligence is an emerging research field covering healthcare needs. A series of challenges exist to move from the current level of computing services in healthcare to the smart world of adaptive and intelligent services.
