Underwater Wireless Sensor Network (UWSN) is a group of sensors and underwater vehicles, networked via acoustic links to perform collaborative tasks. Due to hostile environment, resource constraints and the peculiarities of the underlying physical layer technology, UWSNs tend to be sparse or partitioned, and energy-efficient data collection in a sparse UWSN is a challenging *** consider mobility-assisted routing as a technique for enabling connectivity and improving the energy efficiency of sparse UWSN, considering it as a Delay/Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) or Intermittently Connected Network (ICN). The DTN framework shows superior performance in terms of energy efficiency and packet delivery ratio, at the cost of increased message *** investigate the effectiveness of a polling model to analyze the delay performance and propose a dynamic optimization technique to minimize latency adaptively, thereby supporting delay-sensitive applications also. The effectiveness of the proposed technique in modelling the dynamically changing environment and minimizing the data collection latency is validated using NS-2 based simulation. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2015.

The paper had studied the human-robot cooperation with moving an object based on a three DOF(Degree of Freedom) manipulator. Firstly,the impedance control based on impedance model for the manipulator had been designed, and confirmed through the Simulink simulation. And then, the impedance parameters of the manipulator were obtained by using the least square method. For the human-friendly, the paper had proposed a new method. That is to compare the impedance characteristics of the manipulator with the impedance model of the human-human cooperation. The paper analyzed the human-friendly in quantitative by calculating the percentage error of the impedance parameters. Finally, the paper verified the human-friendly of the manipulator using the method. And it found that the designed impedance control can make the manipulator be human-friendly

Support Vector Machine (SVM) is widely recognized as a potent data mining technique for solving supervised learning problems. The technique has practical applications in many domains such as e-commerce product classification. However, data sets of large sizes in this application domain often present a negative repercussion for SVM coverage because its training complexity is highly dependent on input size. Moreover, a single kernel may not adequately produce an optimal division between product classes, thereby inhibiting its performance. The literature recommends using multiple kernels to achieve flexibility in the applications of SVM. In addition, color features of product images have been found to improve classification performance of a learning technique, but choosing the right color model is particularly challenging because different color models have varying properties. In this paper, we propose color image classification framework that integrates linear and radial basis function (LaRBF) kernels for SVM. Experiments were performed in five different color models to validate the performance of SVM based LaRBF in classifying 100 classes of e-commerce product images obtained from the PI 100 Microsoft corpus. Classification accuracy of 83.5% was realized with the LaRBF in RGB color model, which is an improvement over an existing method.

Multiple Outputs Programmable Integrated Circuits (MOPICs) trainer for educational applications is fabricated based on unsatisfactory usage of PIC simulation which is not able to achieve the learning outcome especially in enhancing leaner's hands-on skill through circuit designing, connection and trouble shooting. Current PIC programming is done through computer simulation, cause the leaners facing difficulty in understanding the wiring connection between the input component, PIC microcontroller and output components. The fabrication of MOPICs trainer was designed and improved by adding more output components, cost effective and user friendly. Moreover, MOPICs trainer are embedded with input component such as normally open push buttons, and 5 difference output components such as seven-segment display, servomotor, LEDs, LCD display, and 12VDC motor. Newly fabricated MOPIC trainer can be programme and re-programme for numerous tasks. Based on respondent questionnaire, it is show that on average of 92.59% agreed that newly developed MOPICs trainer is user friendly, safe and attractive to be used while 94.64% respondent agreed that there are enhancements in theoretical knowledge aspect and hands-on skill implementation in their learning process.

In the context of Internet of Things where real world objects will automatically be part of the Internet, e-health applications have emerged as a promising approach to provide unobtrusive support for elderly and frail people. However, due to the limited resources available and privacy concerns, security issues constitute a major obstacle to their deployment. Among these issues, key distribution for heterogeneous nodes is problematic due to the inconsistencies in their cryptographic primitives. This paper introduces a new key management scheme that aims to establish session keys for highly resource-constrained nodes ensuring security protection through strong encryption and authentication means. Our protocol is based on collaboration by offloading heavy asymmetric cryptographic operations to a set of third parties. The generated shared secret is then used to derive further credentials. Security analysis demonstrates that our protocol provides strong security features while the scarcity of resources is taken into consideration. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2015.

Gesture recognition turns up to be important field in the recent years. Communication through gestures has been used since early ages not only by physically challenged persons hut nowadays for many other applications. Interacting with physical world using expressive body movements is much easier and effective than just speaking As most predominantly hand is used to perform gestures. Hand Gesture Recognition have been widely accepted for numerous applications such as human computer interactions, robotics, sign language recognition, etc Hand Gesture recognition techniques are basically divided into vision based and sensor based techniques. This paper focuses on vision based hand gesture recognition system by proposing a scheme using a database-driven hand gesture recognition based upon skin color model approach and thresholding approach along with an effective template matching using PCA. Initially, hand region is segmented by applying skin color model in YCbCr color space. In the next stage otsuthresholding is applied to separate foreground and background. Finally, template based matching technique is developed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for recognition. The system is tested with 4 gestures with 5 different poses per gesture from 4 subjects making 20 images per gesture and shows 91.25% average accuracy and 0.098251 seconds average recognition time and finally confusion matrix is drawn.

The Prize-collecting Steiner Tree Problem (PCSTP) is a well studied problem in combinatorial optimization. It has a wide range of applications in the literature, for instance in fiber optics such as gas distribution and district heating. In this study, we focus on its application in functional analysis of genes on bio-genetic graphs. In bio-genetics its extremely possible to have a huge graphs to interpret. Since the PCSTP is NP-hard, it is time consuming to obtain solutions for large instances. Thus, there is a need for efficient and fast heuristic algorithms to discover the hidden knowledge behind the vast bio-genetic networks. We propose a matheuristic composed of heuristic clustering algorithm and existing mixed integer liner programming to solve PCSTP. We evaluated the performance of our matheuristic on available real-world benchmark instances from the biology and compared it with existing heuristic approach in the literature. With respect to heuristic results, we obtained solutions with similar or better objective function values. On the other hand the existing heuristic solved the benchmark instances with smaller running time compared to proposed matheuristic.

Proportional Integral Differential (PID) feedback systems are known for their robustness, accuracy and stability. These systems are used in a wide variety of applications. In this paper, we explore the possibility of using a PID architecture in robotic 3D navigation systems. The system developed can be implemented for robotic applications that require high precision of movements along the three dimensions. The precision of movements may be required with reference to the user controls provided, for example in unmanned or autonomous driving systems, which in turn require Artificial intelligence methodologies to give the outputs such that it attains precision. An experimental 3D precision robot is developed, in which the PID algorithm is implemented. The results of experiments conducted, confirm the effectiveness of PID controller in achieving the high precision of robotic movements in three dimensions.

Biometric-based intelligence in authentication machines (A-machines) concerns with the problem of balancing human and machine functions in applications such as mass public events and border crossing. The focus of this paper is intelligent human-machine interfacing of behavior biometrics, which seems to play an important role in future generations of A-machines. Various pilot projects use the "talking face" technology. We suggest further improvement to A-machines based on "talking robot" technology: while interviewing the traveler, a humanoid robot recognizes faces and expressions, verifies the e-passports and the traveler (using his/her biometrics), connects with a watchlist (database), generates cognitive questions and analyzes answers, as well as detects soft biometric features in visual and infrared spectrum bands, such as temperature and blood pressure. Various parts of such technology have been implemented, and the feasibility of assembling such a multifunctional system in the form of a robot is to be studied and understood. This paper presents a survey of the related work, and also provides the authors vision of future generations of A-machines and their applications.
