Automatic acne detection can help people more quickly detect acne disease. At present, most of the researches are based on two-stage detectors, and the researches based on single-stage detectors are very few. However, smaller and faster models are required in practical applications. In this paper, we build a faster and more accurate acne detection model based on YOLOX. First, we propose an Attention Enhanced Feature Pyramid Network (AEFPN) to improve the efficiency and quality of feature fusion. It works by controlling the delivery of feature information and using attention. Then, we propose a stronger data augmentation strategy named MixAug, which uses Copy-Paste and Mixup by turning with a certain probability to make the model converging faster and the training curve smoother. In addition, to assign higher quality samples for small objects, we use Normalized Wasserstein Distance to improve the label assignment strategy called Simplified Optimal Transport Assignment (SimOTA). Finally, we conducted a number of experiments on the AcneSCU dataset. The results demonstrate the proposed method could improve the performance of YOLOX in acne detection, allowing YOLOX to increase 2.62% average precision (AP). At the same time, it can effectively improve the convergence speed of the model. Our model is superior to the current research in model size, detection speed and accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

This review delves into the emerging field of endovascular stent electrodes in the realm of brain-computer interfaces, highlighting advancements in their fabrication methods, signal acquisition performance, electrical stimulation effects, and research progress in electrochemical characteristics, mechanical stability, and biocompatibility. In comparison to traditional invasive procedures, endovascular stent electrodes, implanted through minimally invasive means, mitigate the risks associated with extensive trauma and tissue inflammation, demonstrating commendable signal acquisition capabilities. While exhibiting a slight deficiency in visual evoked potentials, they showcase accuracy in the acquisition and decoding of motor perception signals, rivaling or surpassing traditional surgical methods. Additionally, the technology shows potential therapeutic efficacy in electrical stimulation applications. Nevertheless, challenges such as electrical stimulation thresholds and visibility issues warrant further research and refinement. In summary, endovascular stent electrodes, as an emerging avenue in brain-computer interfaces, hold promise for significant breakthroughs in future research, opening up new possibilities in the field of neuroscience.

The use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for drowsiness detection is an AI-based method for detecting and warning of human drowsiness or weariness. Deep learning models like convolutional neural networks (CNNs) learn by analysing images or videos, often focusing on human faces or eyes. Drowsiness cues may be recognised by these models, including drooping eyelids, yawning, and altered facial expressions. CNN-based sleepiness detection may be used to generate alarms or cautions using economic resources in real-time applications, such as driver monitoring systems, to help avoid accidents and improve safety. Artificial intelligence and computer vision access are at the heart of this technology, which aims to alleviate major safety risks associated with sleepiness and exhaustion. In this research, drowsiness detection and classification are accomplished with the help of a Sequential Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. The graphics processing unit (GPU) is used for producing preliminary data processing. The Deep Learning model is then shown graphically by analysing the Loss and Accuracy curves. With a predicted accuracy of 96%, the suggested model would pave the way for more research into sleepiness detection and categorization. © 2023 IEEE.

Throwable robots, which can be rapidly deployed into operational areas through manual throwing, catapulting, or aerial dropping, hold significant potential for applications in military reconnaissance, urban counter-terrorism, and postdisaster rescue due to their compact size, light weight, and high portability. However, most existing throwable robots have limitations in terms of size and impact resistance, which prevents them from adapting to special terrains such as stairs and mountains, severely reducing their mobility efficiency and reliability. To address these issues, this paper innovatively proposes a tossing robot capable of climbing stairs. First, the overall structure of the robot was designed using 3D modeling software, combining a flexible wheel with a deformable wheel to ensure sufficient impact resistance while enhancing obstaclecrossing capabilities. A telescopic tail support was also designed to prevent direct impact during tossing. Subsequently, a physical prototype of the throwable robot was manufactured based on the 3D model, and the overall control system and PID control algorithm for the robot were designed. The robot's mobility and obstacle-crossing performance were tested, including the deployment of the deformable wheel and the wheel's obstaclecrossing test. The tests demonstrated the robot's good flexibility and obstacle-crossing ability. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, ethical issues surrounding it have also gained increasing attention. However, AI ethics education has lagged. Based on the current state of course offerings, this paper provides guidance for the development of future ethics courses. The paper analyzes the AI ethics courses offered by universities in China and Japan ranked within the top 500 in the QS 2024 rankings, covering multiple aspects of the courses. A comparative analysis is made of the differences between the two countries' universities, including course content and assessment characteristics. Based on these analyses, the paper offers several suggestions for the future development of AI ethics courses. © 2025 The Authors.

This paper proposes an improved autonomous exploration method for complex environments. Firstly, based on SLAM, a hierarchical strategy is used to incrementally construct frontiers in a 3D occupancy map, and the mean-shift algorithm is used to cluster these frontiers to obtain candidate target points. Simultaneously, based on the input of the submap point cloud, the visibility graph is dynamically updated, and its vertices and edges are simplified. Secondly, an evaluation function that includes expected information gain and movement cost is adopted to select the target point. This function can better balance the relationship between information acquisition and cost consumption in different scenes through nonlinear adjustment. Furthermore, paths are planned on the visibility graph to guide the robot to explore the unknown environment quickly and avoid duplicate paths. Simulation experiment results show that compared with NBVP, our method reduces running time by 68% and travel distance by 38.6%, with the completion rate of NBVP being only 0.6. In addition, in the real-world scene, our method can also efficiently complete the exploration task. These results indicate that the algorithm effectively addresses the problems of overlooking local narrow areas and high path redundancy, thereby improving the efficiency of robot autonomous exploration.

The flexibility and adaptability of soft legged robots offer great promise for their application in complex environments. This paper presents the design of a modular pneumatic-driven soft tripod robot (MPSTR), where the soft mechanical legs consist of two bending modules with S-shaped curvature structures. Each module comprises three uniformly distributed air chambers and a tube slot, and by introducing constraints from fiber-reinforced structures, each leg possesses planar mobility. To achieve control of the soft mechanical legs, this study establishes both the forward and inverse kinematics of the soft legs, and tests and fits the relationship between input chamber pressure and chamber extension length. To further enhance the performance and stability of the mechanical legs, we construct an experimental platform for the MPSTR, testing the translational capabilities of a single soft leg along the X and Y axes, and analyzing the feasibility of coordinated tripod locomotion and rotation gait planning.

Previous Multi-Agent Path Finding (MAPF) solvers rely on several simplifying assumptions. They consider the agents as holonomic robots and ignore the agent's size. There are two main directions of MAPF research. One is about MAPF's own shortcoming, how to improve the efficiency of the existing algorithm and the quality of the solution. The other direction is how to deal with diverse constraints brought by different cases when applying MAPF to practical problems. In this paper, the latter direction for solving the handling problem of forklifts in the roadway is more focused on. Firstly, we define MAPF for forklift robot which considers the agent's size and the topological paths as vertices. Secondly, we exploit the advantages of ECBS to make PBS runs faster with a bounded suboptimal solution. Then, we propose an acceleration strategy for collision detection, which is an important factor limiting the speed of the entire algorithm. Finally, we use the weighted low-level search to speed up calculation. The above series of improvements have enabled the MAPF algorithm to be applied in our real scenarios. © 2023 SPIE.
