This paper is prepared in line with IEEE publication requirements which describes the Centralized Protection and control (CPC) as the new level of electrical protection system towards supporting digital substation. This paper is prepared with the intent to share about current industry challenges, the values brought by CPC, current efforts in realizing CPC, the requirements, aspiration, as well as the risk associated to CPC installation in oil & gas industry. Centralized Protection and control or CPC is a protection system with the concept of relocating the functions and features that resides in a protection relay to a centralized device. As protection system is one of Safety Critical Element in Oil and Gas Industry. Operation and Maintenance (O&M) team is looking for features to operate and manage protection relay in a more advanced manner. As the technology evolved, the advancement of hardware capability allows for more computing power in a centralized device to process larger protection data and execute protection function. By having a centralized protection device, complete with digital database supported with analytical tools, and customized features, managing a wide range of protection relays in large scale electrical installation becomes easier and more efficient. Digitalization, centralization, remote monitoring and remote automation are the key step towards realizing digital twins of electrical protection system, thus supporting the reduction of operational costs in such facilities.

In order to quickly and accurately calculate fault-tolerant capability of multi-phase surface-mount permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) at condition of asymmetrical fault, based on subdomain model, an analytical model for multi-phase SPMSM with asymmetric fault is proposed to calculate magnetic field distribution. Firstly, air-gap flux density, no-load back electromotive force (EMF) and electromagnetic torque are obtained accurately. Then, in order to improve the fault-tolerant capability of multi-phase SPMSM, with the minimum phase current as optimization objective, a fault-tolerant control system under the condition of single-phase winding disconnection is established. The performance of electromagnetic torque and torque ripple are used as evaluation indicators. Finally, taking a 12-phase SPMSM prototype with 44-poles 48-slots as an example, the effectiveness of proposed model is proved by 2D finite element model (FEM) and experiment test. In the context of building a new power system, the problem of new energy consumption has become increasingly severe. Studying the factors that hinder the consumption of new energy and quantitatively describing their impact is of great value to the optimized operation of high-proportion new energy power systems. Based on machine learning technology, this paper proposes an intelligent identification method for key factors that hinder the consumption of new energy in regional power grids. First, determine the set of blocking factors based on actual measurement data and engineering experience;then use the blocking factor list data as input and the new energy blocking amount as output to establish a multi-layer feedforward neural network to fit the functional relationship between the input and output, and further The BP-MIV algorithm is used to calculate the contribution of each blocking factor to the blocking amount of new energy, so as to determine the key factors causing the blocking of new energy. Finally, a case analysis is conducted based on the actual operation data of a provincial power grid in northwest China. The results show that the proposed method supports Quantitatively analyze the key factors affecting new energy consumption in a data-driven manner. © 2023 IEEE.

THERP method has the functions of qualitative and quantitative analysis. It can model the conflict resolution process of controllers and roughly predict the probability of human misbehavior. However, THERP method does not consider the influence of time variables on conflict resolution, which has the defects of incomplete qualitative analysis and large quantitative analysis error. Therefore, combined with the analysis ability of HCR model to unresponsive error behavior, the defects in THERP method are corrected. Through the analysis of a typical case of controller's failure in conflict resolution, it can be found that the method can carry out more detailed analysis, and the formed data is more instructive for the formulation of risk control measures. © 2023 IEEE.

This study examines multi-stage robotic production line performance via queuing analysis to enable more accurate resource planning. It is one of a select few studies of this type designed to boost the efficiency of manufacturing robots with many stages. The goal of this study is to assist managers in increasing productivity and effectiveness while choosing the best policy for assembly systems. The study utilizes an analytical methodology based on actual data from a firm that manufactures robots. The process of making a robot involves several different processes, including identifying the problem, researching and designing the solution, developing a prototype, building the robot, programming and testing the robot, and ultimately assessing the robot. The necessary information for each workstation was gathered, and the Supplementary Variable approach was used to ascertain the processing component arrival and departure distribution statistics. The queueing analysis presented in this work serves as a foundation for predicting and analyzing production systems using metrics like utilization, the proportion of idle workstations, the number of batches in the system, the number of batches in the queue, the expected time spent in the queue, and the expected time spent in the system. © 2024 IEEE.

The coupling effect in a Triple Active Bridge (TAB) DC-DC converter is a key issue that affects the output port powers when any of the port power is changed. Therefore, to mitigate the coupling issue, a decoupling control matrix is defined and employed along with the system matrix. The issue of back flow power (BFP) poses another challenge in TAB converter operation, the existence of which reduces the system efficiency substantially. In this work, a detailed analysis of power flows among the TAB ports is done using single phase shift (SPS) and penta phase shift (PPS) modulation schemes for DC Microgrid (DCMG) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) applications. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of BFP minimization is done, and plots of power flow, BFP are presented to illustrate their variations with the variations in phase shifts. A three-port TAB converter system is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink r2021b environment for dc microgrid application with integrated BESS. The simulation results obtained in this study are presented and discussed in detail. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel approach for Fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) using distributed Neural Networks (DNN) to enhance system performance. FDD plays an important role in industrial applications, to guarantee system performance by detecting and analyzing faults to prevent system failures. Various approaches have been adopted for FDD, among which Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown promising results. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), a key AI approach, are extensively utilized nowadays in FDD to monitor system efficiency. This paper introduces a DNN approach that determines the model structure and estimates the results using the Back Propagation (BP) Algorithm. The DNN where used in this work not only to identify multiple faults for DC motors (e.g., broken bar, dynamic strangeness... etc.) but also to determine fault type and location inside a distributed drive network. Several tests of DC engine faults were conducted to assess the execution of the proposed approach. The results revealed a significant improvement in system performance using the proposed approach compared to the multilayer perceptron (MLP) method. The proposed approach enhanced the system's stability and performance by reducing faults from the default value. © 2023 IEEE.

In a heterogeneous wireless environment, there are many different radio access technologies (RATs), such as Wi-Fi and 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, which each have a different degree of coverage and processing power to meet various service requirements. A mobile user may have access to various access networks in such a situation. On the PC of each user, numerous programs with varied Quality of Service (QoS) requirements can operate simultaneously. It would be advantageous for a multi-interface terminal to use two or more interfaces simultaneously in order to improve performance. However, using multiple networks at once could use up more energy than just using one interface. Therefore, energy use must to be taken into account when analyzing the Flow/Interface Relationship (FIA). This paper presents a novel method for choosing the ideal FIA that achieves the best trade-off between all the characteristics taken into account, dubbed Smart Tabu Search (STS). STS considers user preferences, network circumstances, network expenses, application QoS specifications, and battery life of mobile devices. We use simulations and testbed experiments to validate our concept. Professionals are now able to diagnose and monitor patients remotely because to the growing use of healthcare monitoring devices. One of the most frequent occurrences that affects the reliability of information transmission in any network is congestion, which is defined as the unchecked increase in traffic relative to network capacity. With the use of a mesh network, wireless sensors, and some of the most significant models for vital signs, the article aims to provide a realistic simulation environment for a healthcare system. The simulator environment is a helpful tool for assessing the dependability and effectiveness of the healthcare system in a realistic setting. Semiconductor industry has been one of the most promising industries and MOSFET is its main component. Extensive research is going on ever since it started to provide better performance and low-cost effective devices in the market. The study is done on a 3D density gradient nanowire MOSFET for showing the impact of using varied materials on the device performance. A comparison has been made between Silicon (Si) and Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) as semiconductor materials. DC and AC analysis have been done on both models and their results have been compared. The drain current in the Id-Vg and Id-Vd curve for GaAs used model is higher than the Si used model by about 10 times which is useful for analog applications. The threshold voltage for both models is 0.7V. Besides that, the electron concentration forming a potential well of the depth of about 104 for GaAs used material than the model made using Si as material. In the case of AC analysis, the transconductance range for the model using GaAs is almost double of the model designed using Si. © 2023 IEEE.
