This paper proposes a methodology for electricity theft detection based on the Shewhart s chart, which monitors the variability of the consumption data. The problem of theft detection has been split into different levels of power theft, as large power thefts may be of greater importance to utilities since they represent a higher amount of revenue lost. The proposed method consists of two stages: i) in the first stage, the number of days a particular customer is involved in fraudulent activities is detected, and ii) in the second stage, using the information of the first stage, a ranked list of the dishonest customers in a community is prepared. This methodology only uses consumption data available from smart meters installed at consumer's homes. It does not require the installation of a central observer meter or a master meter for the process of theft detection. This method has been tested on a real-world dataset containing consumption data of residential customers. The results show that the method has good performance in terms of various metrics, especially for large power thefts. © 2023 IEEE.

This research presents a novel method for enhancing prosthetic hand control by integrating Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based gesture recognition with IoT hardware and software. Prosthetic devices are very helpful for those who have lost limbs, but limitations in functionality, such as poor fine motor control, might limit their use. It proposes a unique solution to this issue by using IoT sensors to capture user hand motions and a CNN to interpret these movements in real time. Sensors attached to the user's prosthetic limb or other relevant locations provide input for the IoT-based system. By putting this information into a CNN, the device may learn to detect and classify distinct hand gestures, allowing for more complex control of the prosthetic hand. By bridging the gap between human intent and prosthetic hand motion, the control mechanism becomes more intuitive and responsive. Early evaluations show promise for the CNN's utility, with tests indicating it can accurately detect and react to human motions. It also uses assistive technology by proposing a method for realistic and effective prosthetic hand control. This method has the potential to greatly improve the lives of those who have lost a limb by combining IoT with deep learning. © 2023 IEEE.

Nand Flash is a widely used storage device in embedded systems. Because of its special physical properties, raw flash file systems need to have a garbage collection module to collect invalid data. Traditional garbage collection algorithms do not perform well in the case of data with different hot and cold degrees, which leads to high write amplification. And raw flash file systems such as JFFS and YAFFS do not have a wear leveling module to solve the problem of imbalance erase of blocks, which will cause the life span problem of Nand Flash. In this paper, we propose a garbage collection algorithm that realizes hot-cold separation with a low cost of memory and wear leveling by a bidirectional ordered linked list. The experimental result shows that our algorithm achieves an improvement of 15% in write amplification and a significant improvement in the degree of wear leveling compared to traditional raw flash file systems. © 2024 SPIE.

This paper investigates the direct torque control (DTC) of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. Due to high efficiency and power density, PMSMs are finding many industrial applications, including hybrid EVs. A direct torque control technique with PI and SMC, incorporating a space vector pulse width modulated (SVPWM) inverter for flux and torque ripple reduction in PMSM drive is demonstrated in this study. The analysis depicts the rise of electromagnetic torque with the increment in the angle between the rotor and stator flux linkages. Therefore, a rapid response for the torque is achieved by expanding the stator flux linkage's rotating speed. A hysteresis comparator of two-level and three-level controls the stator flux and electromagnetic torque under this DTC technique. An SMC-based controller is designed to maintain the increment of motor speed and torque angle to enhance dynamic reaction time and boost robustness during loading and motor parameter variation. The sliding mode controller features good static and dynamic response, reduces the motor's speed drop and disturbance rejection, and improves the robustness of PMSMs, operated under different speeds and with varied loads. The simulation results verified the viability of the SMC-DTC approach. © 2023 IEEE.

The cultivation strategies for seafood mushrooms vary at different growth stages in response to the conditions within the mushroom cultivation environment. This paper addresses the issues of low classification accuracy and poor robustness when using traditional methods to classify seafood mushroom growth stages. Leveraging deep learning techniques, this study investigates the use of the EfficientNetV2 image classification algorithm to achieve intelligent classification of seafood mushroom growth stages. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm employed in this paper can achieve a classification accuracy of 96% for seafood mushroom growth stages, thus enabling accurate classification. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to restrain the uncertainty of system parameters and the influence of external disturbances on the speed of DC motor, this paper adopts the H+ mixed-sensitivity algorithm to design a speed controller based on the model of the controlled motor. First, the Pseudo Random Binary Sequence (PRBS) is input to the motor and the corresponding speed output sequence is measured. The Least Squares Method (LSM) is used to conduct system identification;Then, design a weighting function based on the established system performance indicators, and use MATLAB to synthesize the H+ controller;Finally, this article adopts the direct form conversion method to implement the controller, and successfully controls the speed of the DC motor through the STM32F407ZGT6 microcontroller. The experimental results show that this algorithm can achieve good speed tracking performance and anti-disturbances ability for DC motors. © 2023 IEEE.

To solve the current problems such as the large volume of courier business and the slow speed of manual sorting in courier stations, a machine vision-based courier sorting robot was developed in this study. The robot contained STM32 as the main controller and an Openmv camera to collect information. It adopted YOLOv5s target detection, zbar barcode recognition, PID control, robotic arm grasping, and sensors. The robot has an omnidirectional chassis structure equipped with a six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm and a two-degree-of-freedom gimbal to provide excellent maneuverability. Different from the traditional manual sorting, the sorting robot does not require staff to scan the code of the courier into the warehouse, sorting, labeling, and moving on the shelves. The courier sorting efficiency was improved with reduced labor costs. The sorting robot can be used in the logistics terminal courier station, replacing labor for courier sorting with feasibility and innovation. © 2023 IEEE.

This review encapsulates the transformative potential of integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and Reinforcement Learning (RL) in devising a Smart Traffic Operation System for urban traffic control. The contemporary urban landscape, marked by burgeoning vehicular populations and increasing instances of congestion, necessitates a paradigm shift in traffic management. Traditional systems, often static and reactive, are rendered inadequate to address the dynamism and unpredictability of modern traffic patterns. Enter the synergistic blend of IoT and RL. Through the pervasive data collection capabilities of IoT devices, the system gains real-time insights into traffic conditions, while RL facilitates adaptive and proactive decision-making. This fusion not only promises enhanced efficiency and safety but also offers environmental dividends by reducing vehicular emissions through minimized congestion. However, the successful implementation of this system hinges on addressing challenges related to data security, storage, and privacy concerns. This study comprehensively examines the intricacies of the integration under consideration, thoroughly analyzing its benefits, possible drawbacks, and the future trajectory for the management of urban traffic. © 2023 IEEE.

AGC stands for Automatic Generation control Performance a very important role to ensure the capability, credibility, and reliability of interconnected power systems for active power transitions. In order to achieve the stability in between the demand & supply, automatic action is required to stabilize the frequency deviations caused during load fluctuations in the respective power system area. In this paper, a two-area electrical power system is formulated as well as modeled in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The deviating performance of the interconnected power systems has been observed during different load conditions. The different control algorithms such as Integrator(I), Proportional Integral (PI), & Proportional Integral Differential (PID) are applied to mitigate perturbations in AGC's parameters like frequency, mechanical power output, and power of tie-line respectively. The hit and trial strategy has opted to tune up controller gains. The performance has been validated through simulated results. At the later stage, the PID controller has outperformed as compared to its counterparts based on settling time and magnitude of error during sudden load demand variations in a power system area. © 2023 IEEE.

Continuous carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites have problems such as long temperature self setting time, high overshoot, and low control accuracy during laser in situ molding, resulting in poor component forming quality. This article designs a temperature closed-loop control system based on an intelligent fuzzy proportional-integral-differential (PID) controller. By introducing a fuzzy self-tuning PID algorithm, the goal of quickly adjusting to the working temperature when turned on is achieved. The temperature overshoot is significantly reduced, and the temperature control accuracy is improved. According to the requirements of laser in situ forming of carbon fiber reinforced polyether ether ketone composite materials, a laser in situ forming experimental device was built. Through simulation testing and comparison of forming temperature, the results showed that compared with traditional PID controllers, when using an intelligent fuzzy PID controller to control temperature, the temperature control accuracy was maintained at ± 10 ℃, the overshoot percentage was about 2.29%, and the adjustment time was about 9.7 seconds. All indicators met the actual engineering requirements, The temperature setting effect is good and the fitting degree is high. Therefore, the overall performance of the intelligent fuzzy PID controller is far superior to traditional PID controllers, meeting the temperature control requirements in the laser in situ molding process of thermoplastic composite materials. © 2023 SPIE.
