As the number of network attacks continues to rise, effective intrusion detection systems (IDSs) have become crucial for maintaining network security. Traditional machine learning (ML) methods have achieved good results in intrusion detection, but are often limited by insufficient training data and vulnerability to adversarial attacks. To address these limitations, we propose a neural network model based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN). GAN have achieved remarkable success in detecting such adversarial attacks, mainly due to the adversarial training of generators and discriminators in an attempt to bypass each other and thereby improve their own capabilities and accuracy. Furthermore, the generator of GANs can generate fake samples that are similar to real data, thereby alleviating the problem of insufficient training data. Our experimental results demonstrate that our proposed IDS model effectively detects network attacks with high accuracy. We believe that this approach represents a promising direction for future research in the field of network security. © 2023 SPIE.

This work presents a virtual synchronous inertia implementation method for cascaded U-bridge (CUB) based battery storage systems. The virtual inertia is provided in a medium voltage grid, by coupling the derivative term of change in frequency to the change in reference active power of CHB converter. A frequency-locked loop is used instead of a phase-locked loop to estimate the frequency variation derivative signal with no high-frequency noise caused by using a differential operator. Additionally, as the penetration of inverter-based resources is increasing in a medium voltage grid, the converter must be connected to the grid during grid voltage sags and supply reactive power according to the grid codes. This paper presents the operation of a CHB-based battery storage system providing virtual inertia along with Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) operation. The controller meets all the LVRT requirements for both symmetrical grid faults (three-phase voltage sag) and unsymmetrical faults. It also ensures that the grid current magnitude is within the safe operating limits of the CHB converter while providing virtual inertial support as well as LVRT operation. The whole functioning of frequency control and LVRT operation in a low-inertia system is validated through MATLAB/Simulink. © 2023 IEEE.

Dynamic mode decomposition with control (DMDc) has emerged as a powerful tool for data-driven system identification in recent years. Our work provides an extension to DMDc, namely the ability to identify systems with a delayed input. Specifically, we propose dynamic mode decomposition with input-delayed control (DMDidc), which allows the identification of input-delayed linear time-invariant (LTI) systems given sufficient input-output data. We prove the method is able to identify delays that are a fraction of a discrete controllers sampling period and provide an extended predictive feedback control scheme that accommodates such delays. A numerical simulation illustrates the benefits of our method.

By utilizing discharge image information, various micro-parameters can be accurately measured. And images are usually 2D planar features of three-dimensional (3D) discharge, so it is necessary to conduct research on the inversion of 3D spatial characteristic parameters of discharge. The Intensified Charge Coupled Device (ICCD) discharge intensity image with a nanosecond exposure can reflect the instantaneous ionization process during discharge, but there is few research on 3D inversion based on ICCD discharge images. Therefore, based on the 1m rod-plate gap discharge test platform under positive lightning impulse, the study on the shooting of streamer discharge intensity images with nanosecond exposure and the inversion of 3D spatial intensity distribution was conducted. The inversion theory and the differences between different inversion algorithms were analysis. Given by the symmetry of the discharge gap structure and discharge light intensity images, a 3D spatial discharge light intensity distribution calculation method based on the Abel inverse transform principle was proposed. The research results indicate that the calculation results using the Hankel-Fourier transform method have the highest accuracy compared to other algorithms. And the spatial distribution of 3D light intensity is mainly more concentrated near the longitudinal central axis of the rod-plate gap. It is reasonable to ignore the space charge and related effects generated by ionization at a distance from the longitudinal central axis of the rod-plate gap during meter-level streamer discharge. © 2023 IEEE.

Gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) was applied to identify rice varieties and adulteration in order to address the inefficiencies caused by the dependence on intricate biochemical procedures for the identification of rice species and *** original migration profile data for the identification of rice varieties and adulteration were provided by testing the volatile flavor substances of 5 kinds of rice. The original data was compressed through principal component analysis (PCA), which was then used as the classifier's input. An improved multi-classification maximum-interval twin support vector machine (MMTSVM) was proposed to construct a multi-classifier with increased classification efficiency and accuracy compared to the conventional support vector machine. The experimental results on the testing set demonstrated that the accuracy of rice variety identification was close to 94.00%, which was obviously better than that of conventional support vector machines, decision trees, and other models. At the same time, the experimental results also showed that the accuracy of the GC-IMS method inidentifying adulterated rice reached 93.3%, outperforming the traditional chromatographic or spectral analysis methods. © 2023 SPIE.

Stochastic expansion planning of integrated energy system: A benders-based decomposition approach

This paper introduces a two-stage stochastic optimization model for the renewables-transmission expansion planning (RTEP) problem to obtain the optimal size and site of the renewable energy generating unit, as well as the investment decisions related to transmission lines and gas pipelines. The uncertainties associated with demand growth and stochastic renewable sources production levels are considered via a series of scenarios, and then, the scenario-reduction approach, i.e., the k-medoids method, is applied to reduce the computation burden. In addition, the gas flow-pressure difference steady-state formulations in the expansion planning model are reconstructed convexly using second-order cone constraints. A Benders-based decomposition method is adopted as a solution methodology in the co-planning problem. The proposed model was simulated on a modified IEEE 39-bus and Belgian gas-20 energy test network, and the simulation results validate the correctness and applicability of the presented approaches. The high autonomy and reliability of vertical landing reusable launch vehicle has urgent demands for both fast trajectory planning and online guidance. In this paper, a fast reference trajectory planning approach is firstly designed via the sequence convex optimization. Then, the model predictive control tracking guidance approach is designed, which combines the fast calculation advantage of convex optimization and the high precision of model predictive control. Finally, numerical simulations of reference trajectory design and online tracking guidance for a vertical landing reusable launch vehicle are given. The simulation results show that the designed approaches are effective in the convergent speed of reference trajectory design and tracking accuracy of online guidance. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

This paper presents a new design for sensorless permanent magnet synchronous motor (PWSM) drive to enhance the robustness of stator resistance. The overall study in this paper is based on a cross-coupled high-order motor dynamic model. Then a fuzzy control based reduced-order flux observer with stator resistance adaptation is proposed. In addition, based on the stability requirements of the flux observer and the speed observer, the operating point is locally stable, with the exception of the zero frequency. Simulated loads operating at the rated speed were used to validate the proposed observer. With a fuzzy controller, choosing the gain for the reduced-order observer is comparatively simple. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

In order to solve the problem of pinning node selection in undirected weighted networks, a pinning control strategy based on the entropy of betweenness centrality and node strength is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a complex network model is given where each node is the same dynamical system, secondly, sufficient conditions for the synchronization of this network are given, and specific steps of the betweenness centrality and node strength entropy-based pinning control strategy are proposed and applied to different networks. Finally, by comparing the neighborhood information entropy-based pinning control strategy, it is found that in order to synchronize the network, the number of key nodes pinned by the proposed pinning control strategy is smaller than the neighborhood information entropy-based pinning control strategy under different coupling strengths. © 2023 SPIE.

The paper presents modelling of space vector modulation based direct torque control (SV -DTC) in stator flux reference frame for induction motor drive (IMD). In conventional DTC of IMD, usually hysteresis controllers are employed to select the appropriate voltage vector. Hence, this results in current, flux, torque and speed ripples. While, the SV-DTC in stator flux reference frame employs the space vector modulation (SVM) by which the current, flux, torque and speed ripples are minimized. The minimization of ripples can be attributed to selection of reference voltage vector by SV -DTC is appropriate during the operation of IMD. In addition, the paper also highlights the advantage of stator flux reference frame over stationary reference frame for IMD operation. The advantage of stator flux reference frame is the flux and torque of IMD are controlled individually as they can be decoupled. The decoupling of the flux and torque also helps in proper PI tuning of controllers and to get proper machine control. All the above, the controller computational complexity is less as they are independent of the rotor parameter. To analyze different operating conditions of IMD, MATLAB/Simulink simulation-based modelling of SV -DTC in stator flux reference frame is presented in the paper. The paper also gives a comparative study that gives flexibility to analyze the machines with conventional DTC and SV-DTC in stator flux and stationary reference frames. © 2023 IEEE.
