Artificial neural networks (ANN) closest to natural neural networks are a class of Deep Neural Networks (DNN) called Spiking Neural Networks (SNN). They are considered the 3rd (and next) generation of neural networks and have promising behavior for reducing the gap between neuroscience inspired technologies and machine learning technologies, using models of neuron networks for computation. An SNN operates using spikes as time-stamped events for both input and output information. A spike occurrence is modeled by equations that represent a neuron membrane potential, which fires information when it reaches a certain potential (or threshold). The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current solutions for training SNNs, the current solutions for neuromorphic hardware, and to demonstrate there is potentiality in combining them. © 2023 IEEE.

With the development of society, the demand and production of bottled beverages such as drinks and beer are increasing day by day, and the requirement for automated packaging efficiency and stability of the products has also increased. The design of the electromechanical integration of the pneumatic control system for automatic bottle capping device is proposed for the demand of the automatic cap pressing process of beverage bottles, and the device consists of water bottle conveying module, water bottle positioning module, cap pressing module, bottle in groups pushing module and PLC electrical control system. The composition principle and process flow, air pressure drive and control system of the automatic cap pressing device are analysed and designed. On this basis, the workflow diagram of the system was designed to give the configuration of the relationship between hardware and PLC ports, and the PLC control system was built based on the process action flow and control requirements, and hardware selection and calculation, control program development and simulation were carried out. By using Solidworks Simulation module to perform finite element analysis on the stress of plastic bottle gland, the stress distribution of the gland is simulated by applying extrusion force on the threaded surface, and the applied gland load can effectively ensure that the bottle is not damaged by the finite element stress analysis, which provides some reference. © 2023 SPIE.

The paper focuses on an energy management system designed for electric vehicle charging stations incorporating photovoltaic integration, particularly in weak power grids. This study aims to develop a hybrid charging facility for electric vehicles in a weak grid. The proposed approach involves integrating both photovoltaic (PV) and grid power sources to optimize energy utilization in different operational scenarios. The charging station employs a Maximum Power Point Tracking methodology to charge the electric vehicle using PV power when it is available. Without PV power, the system automatically adjusts its operation modes accordingly. The power flow among the PV panels, EV charging station, and grid is decisive based on the power availability and demand conditions. In scenarios where the grid is weak, the performance of the power converters in terms of power injection or absorption is significantly affected. To address these challenges, the study focuses on modelling and designing controllers for the various power electronics converters employed in the system. © 2023 IEEE.

Accurate identification of early-stage cable faults is a necessary prerequisite for timely elimination of fault hazards. This article proposes a method for power cable fault diagnosis using wavelet transform and CNN-Informer, which can accurately identify early-stage cable faults from overcurrent signals caused by constant impedance faults, capacitor switching, and excitation inrush currents. The method extracts features from the overcurrent signals using wavelet transform and then constructs a CNN-Informer network fusion model. The model is trained by adjusting the network parameters to establish the mapping relationship between input features and class encoding. Simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively classify overcurrent signals and accurately identify early-stage cable faults, demonstrating high practical value in engineering applications. Furthermore, comparative simulation experiments with similar methods conclude that the proposed method in this article achieves higher accuracy and precision. © 2024 SPIE.

Compared to traditional unmanned ground vehicles (UGV), hub motor driven UGV can remove most of the mechanical devices, and the control of the UGV becomes simple, which makes the UGV more reliable in all kinds of operational environments. In this paper, a new reduction hub motor drive structure is proposed, in which the reducer system uses a multi-gear parallel structure, and the power system uses multi-motor to simultaneously drive. At the same time, this paper also establishes a complete mechanical simulation model and control simulation model based on the principle of vehicle dynamics, field oriented control and other related theories, in order to verify the feasibility of the designing of the hub motor drive. The simulation results show that the load of the reducer system of the multi-gear parallel reduction hub motor drive is uniform, and the control of the power system is stable, fast and has a high degree of redundancy when compared to that of the conventional reduction hub motor drive. Meanwhile, the modelling and simulation methods in this paper provide new inspirations for optimizing the designing of the hub motor drive. © Beijing HIWING Scientific and Technological Information Institute 2024.

The refurbishment of turbine blades requires the precise removal of damaged surface coatings. In manufacturing companies, this usually involves time-consuming activities such as detecting residual coatings and adapting process settings to varying turbine blade geometries. The use of automated systems therefore opens up opportunities to improve the efficiency of turbine blade refurbishment processes by replacing manual tasks. This paper presents an conceptual approach for a semi-automatic decoating process of turbine blades that integrates abrasive blasting technology into a closed loop process control system. The experimental setup consists of a robot for guiding the turbine blade in a blast machine and a nozzle system for local removal of residual coatings using abrasive material. Based on image processing the residual coatings of a turbine blade are labeled by a neural network and mapped to a 3D model of the turbine blade, which is used by a software control system to coordinate the decoating process. Using a prototype setup this paper investigates the applicability of the proposed approach and evaluates its feasibility. © 2023 Euspen Headquarters.

To enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of large-aperture non-spherical optical components, we have proposed a novel strategy for path planning and detection, which uses a non-contact optical probe suitable for spindle-rotating contourimeters. Our strategy leverages the contourimeter's working principle and the structural characteristics of the surface, transforming the three-dimensional collision problem into a two-dimensional detection space. To accomplish this, we first decompose the cross-section of the workpiece into a quadtree space and establish oriented bounding boxes for each sub-node. We then use the separation axis principle to ensure motion safety between the positions of the test points. Next, we utilize the ant colony optimization algorithm to plan the detection path and generate an interference-free scanning route that ensures safety during the detection process. Overall, our path-planning strategy significantly improves detection efficiency, while ensuring that the detection process is conducted safely. By combining these methods, we created a robust and effective approach to detecting large-aperture non-spherical optical components. © 2023 SPIE.

The effect of amplitude fluctuations in utility grid affects the estimated phase angle and frequency by the phase locked loops (PLL). Moreover, the phase angle and frequency estimation loops in PLLs are not decoupled, which leads to inaccurate phase and frequency estimations during amplitude fluctuations in the grid voltage. Moreover, connection of highly reactive loads at the point of common coupling leads to spurious transients in phase angle, which again affects estimated frequency with sudden overshoots. Moreover, connected loads also demean system power quality indices (PQI). Hence, there is a need to decouple voltage-phase angle and frequency estimation loops to minimize the effect of transients in one parameter over the other. Moreover, to adhere to the grid codes, there is a necessity to improve PQI by eliminating dominant harmonics. Hence, this work considers a solar photovoltaic array (SPVA) based grid-tied microgrid with a battery energy storage (BES) connected at the DC link. A multiple reduced order generalized integrator (MROGI) filter-based control is adopted with an improved PLL (IPLL) to minimize the effects of coupling in voltage-phase angle and frequency estimation loops. Simulated results are achieved using MATLAB R2016a to demonstrate system performance with the control. © 2023 IEEE.

The present study has allowed the realization of an automatic communication tool for electronic modules such as BCM and smart junction boxes. We propose a platform with a graphic interface developed by the C# language to achieve communication via the controller Area Network (CAN) and Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) based on vector devices. Parameter optimization strategy of LLC converter soft start-up process based on a simplified numerical calculation model

High-frequency start-up strategy is usually used to limit the current overshoot in the resonant tank of LLC converter. However, the strong coupling among start-up frequency, initial duty cycle, and current limit increases the design complexity of parameters. This paper proposes a parameter optimization strategy of the LLC converter soft start-up process based on the numerical calculation method. With this strategy, the initial switching frequency and duty cycle are determined adaptively according to the given maximum current requirements during the start-up process. The current overshoot is suppressed and soft switching is achieved in the whole process. After the second switching period, 50% duty cycle operation occurs without oscillation. Furthermore, exponential frequency reduction is used in the process, and the current overshoot limiting condition in the initial period is discussed. Finally, a 240 W LLC converter prototype is built to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis in this paper. In terms of current limiting, soft switching, and initial switching frequency, the comprehensive performance of the soft start-up control strategy proposed in this paper is better. Compared to the traditional control strategy, the current overshoot is reduced by 45.6%. The theoretical calculation, simulation, and experimental results are consistent. (c) 2023 The Author(s).
