With the increase of energy storage stations, fire accidents in lithium battery energy storage compartments occur frequently, seriously threatening the stable operation of the power system and the safety of personnel. To solve the danger of manual fire extinguishing, a visual SLAM based fire extinguishing robot for energy storage stations has been designed. In response to the environment of the energy storage station, the main structure and firefighting operation mechanism of the robot have been designed to ensure that the robot can smoothly carry out firefighting operations at the energy storage station. Explored the characteristics of lithium-ion battery fires and the laws of thermal runaway, analyzed the fire extinguishing mechanism of liquid nitrogen, and found that using liquid nitrogen as a fire extinguishing agent has a good inhibitory effect on lithium-ion battery fires. In order to achieve efficient fire extinguishing, and due to the limited liquid nitrogen capacity that robots can carry, a fast autonomous positioning and mapping (SLAM) fire extinguishing strategy for energy storage power plant fire extinguishing robots in unknown environments was designed to ensure maximum utilization of liquid nitrogen. Simulation experiments were conducted on this fire extinguishing strategy, and the results showed that it can extinguish open flames within 10 seconds, effectively suppress the spread of battery thermal runaway, and control the concentration of combustible gases in the cabin beyond the explosion limit. The fire extinguishing robot and extinguishing strategy have a significant inhibitory effect on lithium battery fires in energy storage stations. © 2024 IEEE.

Process monitoring has been used in industry for detecting and diagnosing abnormal behaviour of processes which abundantly improves the overall efficiency of such processes. Recently, the wind turbines' installed power generation capacity is rising worldwide, so, it is important to achieve reliability and safety on such systems. The major task behind this study is to provide an inclusive framework for the fault detection and diagnosis of the wind turbine system. According to the proposed methodology, the faults are first detected by two fault detection indices using the partial least squares (PLS) approach. Then, the diagonal contribution plot (DC) method based on PLS approach (DC-PLS) is used for fault diagnosis. Data collected from a benchmark of a wind turbine system is utilized to confirm the execution of the proposed methodology. The results proved the efficacy of the proposed methodology from the point of view the fault detection and diagnosis. © 2023 IEEE.

Under complex partial shading conditions, the PV system output power will have multiple peak phenomenon. The traditional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technical has low control accuracy, weak global tracking ability, therefore, an algorithm based on Tuna Swarm optimization(TSO) combined with Improved perturb & observation (IP&O) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the group foraging strategy of TSO algorithm is utilized for global search to quickly locate to the vicinity of the maximum power point, and then the excellent local search capability of IP&O is utilized to quickly and accurately converge to the maximum power point(MPP), which effectively avoids falling into the local optimum. After simulation verification, the results show that the strategy can quickly track to the MPP under various lighting conditions, with high tracking accuracy, fast tracking speed and small power oscillation. © 2023 IEEE.

For the problem of uneven power flow distribution and line overloading in the power grid, symmetrical double-core phase shifting transformer (PST) can be used to realise the control of line power flow. Due to the symmetrical double-core phase shifting transformer access to the equivalent impedance and voltage shift angle of the impact of the line longitudinal differential protection may be false or refused to act, resulting in the protection can not be correctly acted. Based on the structure and equivalent circuit of symmetrical double-core phase shifter transformer, this paper analyses the influence of its access on the power flow distribution of the power system and the influence mechanism on the longitudinal current differential protection, and puts forward the improvement measures for the longitudinal current differential protection of the line containing phase shifter transformer. Finally, a simulation model is constructed in PSCAD, and simulation is used to verify the correctness of the mechanism analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed improvement measures. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, voltage-sourced converter (VSC) based high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems have found extensive application. Traditional control loops of VSC-HVDC are mainly divided into the phase-locked loop, the outer control loop and the inner current control loop, which shows satisfactory performance under high system strength. However, when VSC-HVDC works in a weak grid condition, the traditional control method may cause voltage instability or collapse at PCC because of undesired aggravated active-reactive power coupling. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an improved vector control (IMVC) method to stabilize the voltage at the PCC. According to the voltage reference value and the active power reference value, the reactive current command compensation is calculated to improve the stability of PCC voltage and power under a low system strength. The effectiveness of this method in enhancing VSC- HVDC operational stability under low system strength is verified by simulations in MATLAB/Simulink platform. © 2023 IEEE.

As the national dual-carbon goals are steadily implemented, the transmission grid of the power system has become more mature in recent years. To improve the inter-provincial channel interoperability and enhance the equipment utilization efficiency, especially in tapping the transmission capacity of the existing grid, is a topic that needs to be studied in-depth during the development stage of the power system. Therefore, the utilization of controllable phase shifting transformers (PSTs) technology offers a new idea for improving equipment utilization and balancing the power grid without changing the existing system network structure, in this paper, a two-layer optimisation model considering the network optimal current and the cost of the phase shifter is established, and the adaptation scenario of the phase shifter is proposed by combining the actual grid scenario, providing a potential solution for the current stage of main network planning. © 2023 IEEE.

The modelling and simulation of a commercial DC rapid charging system powered by solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays are presented in this work. The active front end converter in the suggested solution uses buck-boost converters to charge the electric vehicle (EV) battery. The charging voltage is managed by the closed loop management of the buck boost converter. The simulation is carried out using the Matlab-Simulink tool, and the output results of the suggested model are compared for line and load regulations, in order to validate the proposed charging technique. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of electricity technology in distribution networks such as Electric Vehicles and Distributed Generation (Rooftop PV, etc.) can lead to increased instability due to the characteristics of generation that tends to fluctuate and the characteristics of power electronic devices. Conventional transformers behave passively to the problems faced by the distribution network. One solution to this problem is the use of solid state transformers (SST). This study will describe the consideration of topology selection and rectifier control system as one of the main converters of SST. The rectifier topology used is Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC). MMC is chosen because it has the flexibility of feature development and low THD compared to other converter topology options. The Higher Level control algorithm used is Vector Current control and the Lower Level control uses Nearest Level control. Simulation results show that the MMC rectifier in the designed SST is able to support reactive power by sending and absorbing reactive power according to load demand or dispatch commands on the MVAC network. Moreover, the designed MMC rectifier is able to respond to the emergence of power quality problems in the form of voltage sag and swell.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging industry in which diverse items are linked to the web so that they may share information and interact with one another. Over time, IoT has developed as a concept, and its use has spread to new fields including medicine, transportation, industry, and agriculture. In this article, we'll try to trace how the Internet of Things has developed in many contexts. First, it gives a brief introduction to the Internet of Things, its background, and the foundational technologies that have contributed to its explosive expansion. Next, the study looks at how IoT is being utilized in different industries, beginning with healthcare, where it is being used to remotely monitor patients and enhance healthcare results. After discussing how IoT devices are used to monitor cars and enhance traffic control, the paper shifts its focus to the transportation industry. It also takes a look at how manufacturers are using IoT to streamline their operations and cut down on expenses. The study concludes with a discussion of how farmers may utilize IoT to increase their harvests by keeping tabs on things like weather, soil, and crop conditions. © 2023 IEEE.

With the strengthening of the integrated features of the power grid operation, the global monitoring and analysis decision-making requirements around the main power grid and the external environment of Zones I and III are gradually increasing. Considering the visualization requirements and deployment scenarios of the power grid GIS, and the consistency of display on the human-machine display platform of the power grid dispatching and control system spanning Zones I and III, an integrated design based on the principles of integration and modularization was developed. This design relies on the lightweight human-machine interaction frameworks and new generation of service buses. It implements a unified solution for Desktop GIS and Web GIS. The implementation includes interoperate between CIM/G files and GIS interface programs, configuration-based loading of grid maps, and automatic avoidance of feature annotations. Through program reuse between Zones I and III, the GIS-related monitoring scenarios of the power grid applications are supported. © 2023 IEEE.
