This paper study the effect of plug in electric vehicle in the automatic generation control of a multi area power system which includes conventional reheat thermal system in all the areas and the others are renewable energy sources like wind turbine generator, solar photovoltaic hydropower plant, biogas turbine generator, biodiesel engine generator and geothermal power plant. A cascaded Tilt integral derivative with filter (TIDN) and fractional order Tilt integral (FOTI) controller is proposed for the AGC system whose control parameters are tuned with recent Mayfly optimization algorithm. Comparative analysis of the proposed TIDN-FOTI controllers with I, PID and TID controller is done which shows the superiority of the proposed controller tuned with MOA in improving the system dynamics. The effect of electric vehicles (EV) in improving system dynamics is also analyzed. © 2023 IEEE.

In natural gas, chemical engineering, power equipment, nuclear facilities, etc., equipment testing is an indispensable and essential link in industrial production. It involves the inspection of some small pipelines, narrow spaces, and high metal walls;in some scenarios where endoscopes are required to complete detection, transporting detection equipment requires a significant workforce and material resources. To change traditional detection methods' time-consuming and labor-intensive nature, a micro detection robot based on ESP32 has been designed to replace tasks that require endoscopic and metal wall detection. The robot uses ESP32 as the central controller, builds peripheral circuits around the main controller, and is equipped with a camera at the front end to collect crack images. The upper and lower computers use UDP communication protocols to achieve remote connection control. The experimental results show that the micro-detection robot can achieve a straightforward collection of some subtle cracks, scratches, etc., on the metal surface and can meet the basic requirements of industrial crack detection. © 2024 ACM.

The polygon effect is inevitable during the movement of the chain-driven rotating magazine, and its load varies significantly throughout the loading process due to changes in the number of projectiles. The system parameters are nonlinear. Given these issues, it becomes apparent that the magazine is a complex nonlinear system that demands high control accuracy. This paper introduces an adaptive sliding mode control strategy based on a disturbance observer. The perturbation is estimated by the observer and then the estimated value is compensated to the controller. The influences of unknown parameters are weakened by the adaptive algorithm. Theoretical analysis and simulation results under various load conditions demonstrate that the control algorithm is insensitive to uncertainties, such as time-varying disturbance, unknown parameters, etc. The control can achieve a high control accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

The ADP-based controller is optimized using the PSO method so that it can respond appropriately to the changing dynamics of the system. The PSO-pre trained ADP-based control system is evaluated against the 'Proportional-Integral (PI)' and 'Fuzzy Logic control (FLC)' strategies in terms of performance. The simulation results show that the PSO-pretrained ADP-based control scheme has the best tracking error, settling time, and steady-state error compared to the other control schemes. In terms of real-world applications, the suggested control approach may help save costs, increase efficiency, and facilitate the incorporation of renewable energy sources into existing power grids. Additional work might investigate the possibility of integrating PSO with other optimization methods to create more sophisticated and efficient control strategies for ESSs. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a method of applying MMC based on battery energy storage system (BESS) to HVDC system to realize power decoupling control on AC and DC side. Firstly, the basic structure and working principle of MMC-HVDC system based on BESS are analyzed. Then, based on the mathematical equivalent model, the MMC-BESS decoupling control method based on DC power control is derived, and the AC-DC power decoupling control is realized. Finally, a +400kV MMC-HVDC system is built on the RTDS platform, and the proposed control strategy and power decoupling effect are verified. The results show that the MMC-BESS control strategy proposed in this paper is effective. The MMC-HVDC system based on BESS can realize active power decoupling control between AC side and DC side, and the unbalanced power between AC side and DC side can be compensated by the charge and discharge of BESS. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to realize high-performance control of six-phase interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM), a multidimensional sensorless vector control scheme is discussed in this paper. Firstly, a new adaptive sliding mode observer (SMO) is designed to estimate the speed and rotor position information online, avoiding the phase delay caused by the traditional SMO method using the low-pass filter, and the detailed design method of observer parameters is given. In addition, the designed multi-dimensional vector control strategy fully exploits the advantages of multi-degree of freedom control for multi-phase motor drive system, considers the influence of x-y harmonic subspace, and sets the reference value of the current loop in harmonic subspace to zero to solve the stator current unbalance problem. Finally, the simulation model of the proposed control algorithm is built based on Matlab/Simulink simulation software, and the simulation results verify that the employed control technology has good control quality. Proposed a method for calculating the area of road diseases using a monocular camera. The camera and the road plane are calibrated to obtain the mapping relationship between pixel points and spatial points;the Mask R-CNN is used to detect and segment the road disease;the inverse perspective transformation is used to convert the target image into a bird’s-eye view to obtain the relationship between the pixel scale and the real scale;binarize the bird’s-eye view according to the segmentation effect, and the area of the road disease could be obtained through calculating the number of target pixels. It has been verified that the calculation error of the algorithm is about 2.1675% in the near vicinity. © 2023 SPIE.

The mathematical model of a two-wheeled robotic machine (TWRM) with five degrees of freedom (DOF) is utilized in this paper to enlarge the workspace and enhance the robot's flexibility. The suggested machine features five degrees of freedom (DOFs), which makes it suitable for pick-and-place, material handling, and packing tasks in the workplace. The proposed architecture will make it more difficult to control the system to account for the center of mass' (COM) location changing as a result of managing tasks that must be performed in multiple directions. The state space model was created by linearizing the non-linear modeling equations at the equilibrium point using the Lagrangian modeling. Numerous controllers, including the proportional-integral-derivative (PID), linear-quadratic regulator (LQR), and PID with LQR methods, were tested in order to stabilize the robot. The PID with LQR technique, where PID was used as a feedforward to control the intermediate body (IB) and end-effector and LQR was used as state feedback to regulate all states. These controllers were evaluated while taking into account a variety of circumstances (disturbance signals, tracking pathways, and moving actuators). In terms of least overshoot, rising time, and applied input forces, simulation results showed that PID with LQR controller tuned performed better than the other two control systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Considering that most common aerial manipulators use rigid manipulators, which have the problems of low fault tolerance and high control accuracy requirements, this paper designs an aerial manipulator that can automatically change the grasping radius. The design consists of a flight platform and a soft manipulator;the flight platform is loaded with a fixture that can automatically adjust the grasping radius, and the soft manipulator is composed of multi-chamber soft actuators. In order to verify the feasibility of the design, a finite element simulation of the bending deformation of the soft manipulator is carried out in this paper. In addition, this paper designs a PID pneumatic control system based on the real-time feedback of air pressure and bending force information to ensure that the soft manipulator can grasp objects with appropriate air pressure and realize the gripping of fragile objects. Finally, the paper presents the trajectory planning of the aerial manipulator to grab an object from a point and transport it to the target point. © 2024 ACM.

The quantity of domestic wastes is constantly increasing, resulting on overload of wastes. Recycling became imperative for ecologic and economical considerations in order to apply circular economy rules. In general, humans are recruited in waste sorting plants for performing the dangerous and tedious sorting tasks. The automation is, thus, necessary. This paper deals with the problem of waste sorting automation. The proposed solution consists of waste recognition and classification using YOLOv8, and human presence detection using RFID (Radio frequency Identification) tags. The proposed solution is validated in simulation. The virtual robot performs a task in order to simulate the behavior of a real robot with high fidelity, depending on the information coming from the RFID tags and a visual sensor. © 2024 IEEE.
