The principle and operation of the VIENNA rectifier is examined and the VIENNA mathematical model is developed. To address the issue that the three-phase VIENNA rectifier's double PI controller finds it challenging to attain both rapidity and accuracy, a double closed-loop control approach consisting of inner loop quasi-proportional resonant control (QPR) and outer loop PI control is created. Aiming at the problems of inrush current on the grid side and DC bus voltage overshoot caused by the VIENNA rectifier in the startup process, the paper makes a theoretical analysis and designs a soft startup strategy. Then, the simulation model of the three-phase VIENNA rectifier control system was built in Simulink, which verified the correctness of the QPR control strategy and soft start scheme. Finally, an 8-kW prototype is set up, and the experimental results further confirm the effectiveness of the slope setting of the current. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The optimization design of a multi-energy system considering the rural energy structure is helpful in achieving energy complementarity and coupling interaction among different energy systems, as well as promoting organic coordination among the four elements: generation, net, load, and storage. Firstly, this article analyzes the supply and consumption characteristics of rural energy, and proposes a network infrastructure design for a multi-energy system in rural areas. Secondly, it analyzes the technical characteristics of distributed energy supply devices, energy storage, and other technologies under the natural resource endowment in rural areas, establishes their mathematical models, and configures the multi-energy system. The optimization design model of the rural multi-energy system is constructed with economic cost as the objective, considering constraints such as construction area, system reliability, and equipment operating capacity. The model is solved using a genetic algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified using a case study of an energy utilization scenario in a rural area in Shouguang City, China. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes an integrated framework of trajectory planning and control for autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in an intra-logistic scenario, where humans and robots share the same indoor workspace. The proposed framework consists of perception and trajectory planning. To perceive human motion, information from the RGB-D camera is used to detect human positions. Then a model-based tracking approach is employed to track multiple people's motion and estimate their speed over a short time horizon. For trajectory planning, a Model Predictive control (MPC) based scheme is adopted to generate motor commands while taking into account energy efficiency, safety, and addressing human-aware proximity constraints. To convexify the nonlinear collision avoidance constraints, Sequential Convexification Programming is employed. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can be implemented in real-time and efficiently avoid people in advance. © 2023 IEEE.

In case of a failure within the area of flexible low-frequency transmission lines, the power electronic devices (M3C) at both ends of the line limit the fault current, which causes the reduction of sensitivity of the traditional phasor-based line differential protection or even failure to operate. Based on the structure of a flexible low-frequency transmission system, the electrical characteristics of the line failures were analyzed, and a differential protection technology suitable for flexible low-frequency transmission lines was proposed based on the differential principle of sampling values. The low-frequency transmission line model was built in RTDS, and the method was verified to meet the protection requirements of flexible low-frequency transmission lines. © 2023 IEEE.

The resistor-capacitor network (RC models) is a common approach to model thermal systems in buildings that proves advantageous in improving a building's energy efficiency. This paper presents a framework for energy consumption cost estimation and power efficient control in buildings-based model predictive control. The proposed framework calculates the electricity cost for dwellings based on their sizes using RC models. Additionally, it ensures consistent thermal comfort within the controlled building even during performance issues. The calculation of the cost of energy consumption takes into account the electricity tariff provided by Hydro-Quebec, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Model Predictive control (MPC) along with two backup controllers (ON/OFF control and Proportional-Derivative-Integral (PID) control) optimize the thermal model in a building, ensuring the desired indoor temperature efficiently with low cost. The Simulation results conducted on the Matlab/Simulink platform demonstrated that MPC control outperforms the other controllers in terms of energy consumption minimization and cost. © 2023 IEEE.

Mobile networks are growing rapidly, particularly in light of the advent of the 5G New Radio (NR). This growth requires installing more base stations (BSs) that increase overall electromagnetic field (EMF) emission. The international Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) has set maximum limits to control EMF levels. This paper studies the compliance boundary for a single site running with multiple technologies including the 2G/3G/4G/5G colocated in the same tower. An enhanced formula is proposed and used with a typical site configuration setup for the boundary calculations in the form of Compliance Distance (CD). Also, the study investigated the CD for the Macro site that is commonly used in live networks. Additionally, this paper investigated the power density (PD) and total exposure ratio (TER) for occupational workers (OW) and the general public (GP) at the site. The results show that the enhanced formula gives shorter CD distances when the power reduction factor is considered, and 5G has the highest contribution to TER. © 2023 IEEE.

The contradiction between large stroke drive and high-precision feed is difficult to solve in ultra precision special machining. This article takes three-dimensional structure machining as the object, constructs a prototype manufacturing system for large-scale three-dimensional structures, and proposes a solution to improve positioning accuracy. Through the control method of digital fuzzy control+PID combined with bidirectional static error compensation, the platform achieves sub micron level accuracy within a hundred millimeter stroke, ensuring the high response characteristics and low-speed stability of the servo system. The experimental results prove that the system runs well and can achieve high positioning accuracy, meeting the requirements of micro fabrication. © The Authors.

A mathematical model of fixed-wing UAV was established by selecting the geocentric inertial coordinate system, and the longitudinal and lateral motion equations of UAV were obtained by the small perturbation linearization method, and the attitude solution method was given. The PID controller with four control loops of roll, pitch, yaw and altitude is designed, and the PID controller is simulated and analyzed by MATLAB, and the fixed-wing UAV flight control system is designed and built based on Arduino platform. After testing, the flight control system can accurately control the UAV flight under the modalities of constant height and self-stabilization. © 2023 SPIE.
