Siren noise constitutes a nuisance and could be harmful for ambulance personnel and patients. Several studies proposed simulated Active Noise control (ANC) solutions to attenuate siren noise inside an ambulance. In this paper an implementation of a feedforward ANC system based on the classic FxLMS algorithm is presented, running it on a real-time hardware platform to test the efficacy of such solution in a laboratory environment. Algorithms are developed in MATLAB Simulink environment, and run on Speedgoat target hardware. The results of these experiments are presented, and while discussing our findings, the experienced limitations are described, and further work is suggested. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

This paper presents a new control scheme for suppressing the flexible cantilever beam vibration by using the piezoelectric actuator. Based on the Hamiltonian principle, partial differential mathematical models of the flexible beam active vibration control system are characterized. Considering the complexity of the partial differential control system design, the Galerkin method is employed to decompose the partial differential dynamics model of the system into an ordinary differential model for the design of active vibration controllers. With an auxiliary function and the simplified ordinary differential mathematical model, a new active vibration controller is proposed to achieve fast vibration suppression. The stability of the closed-loop control system studied in this paper is demonstrated by means of the Lyapunov theory. Finally, numerical simulations are constructed in order to verify the effectiveness of the control strategy proposed in this paper. The results show that the proposed control method can reduce the vibration of the flexible cantilever beam effectively, making it a promising technique for active vibration control of flexible structures. © 2023 IEEE.

In the elevator group control dispatching system, the deterministic analytical algorithm is still widely used in practical applications, but the traditional algorithm lacks self-Adaptability to the elevator group control strategy, the processing efficiency of the call signal is low, and the selection of the elevator to be distributed is not flexible. To solve the above problems, traffic flow is introduced to identify traffic patterns and flexibly switch to optimize the stop sequence of call signals;Select the allocatable elevator flexibly, and use Poisson signal to simulate the passenger flow on MATLAB for simulation verification. The results show that after optimization, the owner's waiting time, congestion and elevator energy consumption are improved effectively. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

An overview of the current thermal problems in transportation electrification supports the scientific advancements and trends of thermal management systems. While recent automobile companies are currently largely studying intelligent thermal management and control solutions, modern trends in employing various petroleum engines have a negative impact on climate change and global warming. For vehicle electrification to increase battery performance and longevity as well as vehicle efficiency, a thorough understanding of thermal concerns is required. This has been considered when designing the battery modules and packs for the pre-production model or manufacturing of Electric vehicles. Different component designs are getting better, and many problems are currently being resolved. Trade-offs can be made in terms of performance, usability, volume, cost, management, and safety. Thermal management and electrification of electric vehicles are thereby necessary. The research presented here discusses a proposed thermal management approach for battery-powered vehicles. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to amalgamation of large-scale distributed generations (DGs), low frequency oscillation (LFO) becomes the primary concern in power systems. Therefore, it becomes paramount to design wide area damping controller (WADC) to provide sufficient damping to LFO modes. To design WADC, the availability of all the states is required. However, practical power grid is similar to black-box system and to design such controllers, reconstruction of all the states is necessary. In this effort, an observer based prescribed degree robust WADC is proposed for DG integrated system to damp the critical LFO modes. Furthermore, the WADC parameters are tuned by Nyquist robustness assessment and loop transfer recovery (LTR). Geometric approach is utilized to find the suitable control location in DG system and wide-area signals. The efficacy of proposed WADC is demonstrated on a complex 16-machine, 68bus system, and its performance is also compared to conventional optimal control method. From the simulation results, it is evident that the proposed WADC for DG furnishes enhanced damping towards critical modes for broad operating scenarios. © 2023 IEEE.

An electroencephalogram that was captured with electrodes placed can easily get contaminated with a variety of artifacts. Here is a comparative of various electroencephalogram (EEG) de-noising techniques. Three alternative techniques are used to eliminate five different kinds of noise, and also the outcomes are evaluated. These three methods are just the Least Mean Square (LMS) technique, the Connected Neural Network, and also the Recursive Least-square (RLS) adaptable algorithm (FCNN). Period charts of the actual EEG signal, the noise EEG signal, and thus the predicted EEG signal are used to display the results. RRMSE and signal-to-noise ratio were utilized to compare the effectiveness of the 3 de-noising strategies in this study. Investigating the model parameters in this case, we discover the FCNN forecasts a better outcome compared to the other two methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Deep learning has revolutionized medical image analysis, leading to advancements in diagnosis and treatment. This article examines the application of deep learning techniques, specifically convolutional neural networks (CNNs), for diagnosing pneumonia in chest X-rays. Utilizing transfer learning algorithms and ensemble methods, the proposed method aims to improve feature extraction accuracy and automated pneumonia identification techniques. The research compares three transfer learning models - DenseNet169, VGG16, and InceptionV3 - and employs ensemble techniques to generate more precise predictions. The architecture of the ensemble model combines the probabilistic outputs of each base model using a soft voting layer, resulting in enhanced predictive performance. Deep learning and ensemble approaches can potentially improve pneumonia detection from chest X-ray images, as demonstrated by these findings. © 2023 IEEE.

In the current state of the technical environment, power optimization, delay reduction, and leakage minimization are of the utmost importance. This is especially true as the industry works to overcome the limits brought on by scaling down to 32 nm. Through the process of designing and simulating a 14T SRAM cell utilizing 22 nm SG-FINFET technology, this study presents a fresh way to addressing the issues that are presented. This research makes use of the potential of FinFET's three-dimensional 'fin' structure by adopting a configuration that is unique in that it uses 14 transistors. As a result, the study improves the stability and control of conventional 6T SRAM cells. In this work, which makes use of Synopsys HSPICE for in-depth analysis, unique voltage scaling techniques are applied within the 14T structure, and transistor sizing is optimized in order to achieve a balance between power consumption and performance that has never been achieved before. The robustness and effectiveness of this ground-breaking architecture are further highlighted by comparative and sensitivity assessments. The discoveries that were made as a result of this study not only contribute to an improvement in our comprehension of the behavior of SRAM in the era of technology with a feature size of 22 nanometers, but they also pave the way for potential future developments in low-power, high-efficiency integrated circuits. © 2023 IEEE.

At present, most of bionic robotic fish in BCF mode make use of reciprocating positive and negative rotation of a servo to drive the swing motion of the tail fin. However, the swing frequency of the tail fin of the robotic fish is relatively low and the generated propulsive force is also relatively small due to the influence of the properties of the servo. The other robotic fish which use DC motor or other unidirectional rotation motor to drive the tail fin have to take advantage of complex mechanical structure to realize reciprocating swing motion of the tail fin, even so, the swing amplitude of the tail fin cannot be adjusted directly. This paper presents a novel bionic swing propulsion mechanism which is driven by a stepper motor. The tail fin can swing at a high frequency by controlling the rotate speed in positive rotation of the stepper motor, and correspondingly, the swing amplitude of the tail fin can be adjusted by controlling the stepper motor to reverse rotation. In addition, a steering mechanism is added to this bionic swing propulsion mechanism to realize the steering function for the propulsion mechanism. The presented swing propulsion mechanism can be directly used for a swing mechanism of tail fin of robotic fish, or even can act as a kind of bionic propeller of underwater vehicle to replace the traditional screw propeller. In order to verify the feasibility of this underwater bionic propulsion mechanism, a series of swimming experiment were carried out. © 2023 SPIE.

The orderly control strategy of the optical storage charging station can significantly reduce the impact of the disordered charging of many vehicles on the power grid. However, users' response to orderly charging will cause inconvenience to some extent. Therefore, this paper proposes a coordinated control strategy of optical storage charging station based on peak-valley period, taking the minimum total load of charging station and the minimum charging cost of users within the user charging period as the objective function, and adopts the bee colony algorithm to comprehensively analyze the impact of different peak-valley period division and different user responsiveness on the power grid impact. The effectiveness of this strategy is verified by an example analysis. This method significantly reduces the impact of the optical storage charging station on the power grid. © 2023 SPIE.
