Air-born satellite high data rate transmission systems can realize quick response broadband real-time information transmission of large scale maneuver. The systems also play important roles on ocean exploration and mapping, marine resources research, remote monitoring, locating and rescuing marine disasters and safeguarding marine rights. Due to the small EIRP of the satellite and the performance limitations of the traditional signal transmission technologies, the air-born satellite antenna aperture of the high data rate transmission system is still relatively large and the small fixedwing aircraft cannot realize high data rate satellite transmission. This paper analyzed the possible technical approaches to reduce the airborne antenna aperture. We proved that multiple antenna and multi-carrier signalprocessing which are physical layer transmission technologies can greatly reduce the airborne antenna aperture.

For the wideband signal acquisition and processing application, such as 3G/4G Base Stations, Wideband Microwave Backhaul, Military Communications, and RADAR, the need for high speed and smart software-defined radio (SDR) test platform is growing. In this paper, we implement a high compact form factor data acquisition and storage system used for the wideband signal application development. In order to implement high compact, low power and high speed real-time data storage, we use a PCIe-based switch architecture and leverage the Flash array as the storage part. The system supports RF sampling directly and offers a 16TB solid state storage module which could be read and write at the sustained speed of 12.8GB/s.

The main problem associated with 3D video delivery is huge data transmission rate especially when the data to be submitted are large video files such as multiview plus depth videos. This paper describes a new method of compression for multiview videos with depth data by using the new High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) technology. We propose a new compression method by applying the Reduced Resolution Depth Coding (RrdC) method to the depth videos. RrdC is applied by Down-Sampling and Up-Sampling (DSUS) the depth data of the multiview videos. The depth data is down-sampled before HEVC encoding and up-sampled after HEVC decoding operation. The proposed depth compression method used with HEVC showed a 20% savings at low bit rate when tested with 2 views plus depth video sequence.

The objective of this paper is to implement the equivalent filter bank structures for the computation of the Fractional Fourier transform (FrFT). Through this approach we can reduce the computation time of the fractional Fourier transform ( FrFT). In this paper first the two methods to compute the fractional Fourier transform of any function is derived. Then the computation method is implemented using the filter bank approach. The fractional Fourier transform has many applications recently like we can compute the DFTs of sequences with prime lengths and sparse sequences, sequences of non-integer periodicities, reducing the noise in noisy images but it is possible when the noise and data are uncorrelated, in sonar signalprocessing and this transform gives better results compared to the Fourier transform in many areas. Here we discussed a method for reducing process time and increasing matching accuracy in fingerprint authentication using the fractional Fourier transform ( FRT) and also it provides more protection of personal information compared to the Fourier transform.

In a peer-to-peer (P2P) video-on-demand (VoD) system, a peer can prefetch some movie data for its future needs when it is watching a movie. These prefetched movie data can also offload the servers, which is in the best interest of VoD service providers. To offload the servers effectively, which segment of a movie a peer should prefetch is an important problem. In this paper, we propose a server load based prefetching strategy to solve this problem, which aims at reducing server load. In this strategy, we propose to use the EWMA (Exponentially Weighted Moving Average) server load to determine which segment of a movie a peer should prefetch. Furthermore, we integrate this strategy into our previously proposed P2P VoD scheme. Through simulations, we demonstrate that this strategy can effectively reduce server load.

Optical communication through light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and video cameras is rapidly gaining attention due to the increasing pervassiveness of those devices, and because of its potential data capacity. However, the communication quality is greatly compromised by the low resolution of the imaging sensor which produces blurred images of the LEDs at long distances. On the other hand, the images recorded at high frame rates possess particular features that can be used to improve the reception. This paper suggests image processing techniques to detect and decode the optical signals of an array of LEDs. For the case of blurred images, detection of the LED's is reinforced by a k-means clustering algorithm based on distance measurements derived from the linear correlation among pixel intensities along the time dimension. Experiments with a prototype show that the proposed algorithms can improve the bit error rate (BER) of the decoded signal. Furthermore, partial implementation on a General Purpose Graphics processing Unit (GPGPU) is also addressed, and processing times are demonstrated.

C8051F040 microcontroller acts as the core controller in this system. The microcontroller reads the MEMS gyroscope data through the I2C bus, and then passes the data through the RS232 bus to the host computer for processing. Finally, this paper analyzed errors of the system. The test result shows that the system has a small size, light weight, high reliability. This instrument can be widely used in space.

This study focus on compression in wavelet decomposition for security in biometric data. The objectives of this research are two folds: a) to investigate whether compressed human eye image differ with the original eye and b) to obtain the compression ratio values using proposed methods. The experiments have been conducted to explore the application of sparsity-norm balance and sparsity-norm balance square root techniques in wavelet decomposition. The eye image with [320x280] dimension is used through the wavelet 2D tool of Matlab. The results showed that, the percentage of coefficients before compression energy was 99.65% and number of zeros were 97.99%. However, the percentage of energy was 99.97%, increased while the number of zeros was same after compression. Based on our findings, the impact of the compression produces different ratio and with minimal lost after the compression. The future work should imply in artificial intelligent area for protecting biometric data.
