In electronic countermeasures, in order to interfere the normal work of reconnaissance receiver, the noise signal emitted by the jammer is usually used for electromagnetic suppression. Otherwise, the radar signal may be exist in the reality electromagnetic environment. signals can not be recognized in time domain because of the superposition of interference signal and radar signal. The directions of them can not be found. So it is important to have the research on the detection and direction finding (DF) algorithm of mixed signals under the background of interference. The algorithm in this paper is considered in the frequency domain. The signals can be detected and recognized according to the maximum values and mean square values of spectral modulus after the short time Fourier transform (STFT). Then the direction can be found by the interception of the useful data segment. The equipment is simple in this algorithm. Its amount of computation is less and it is suitable for the project realization. The directions of interference signal and radar signal can be found simultaneously. Computer simulation results show that high accuracy can be achieved on certain conditions.

A data acquisition system for medical imaging applications is presented. Developed at CPPM, it provides high performance generic data acquisition and processing capabilities. The DAQ system is based on the PICMG xTCA standard and is composed of 1 up to 10 cards in a single rack, each one with 2 Altera Stratix IV FPGAs and a Fast Mezzanine Connector (FMC). Several mezzanines have been produced, each one with different functionalities. Some examples are: a mezzanine capable of receiving 36 optical fibres with up to 180 Gbps sustained data rates or a mezzanine with 12 × 5 Gbps input links, 12 × 5 Gbps output links and an SFP+ connector for control purposes. Several rack sizes are also available, thus making the system scalable from a one card desktop system useful for development purpose up to a full featured rack mounted DAQ for high end applications. Depending on the application, boards may exchange data at speeds of up to 25.6 Gbps bidirectional sustained rates in a double star topology through backplane connections. Also, front panel optical fibres can be used when higher rates are required by the application. The system may be controlled by a standard Ethernet connection, thus providing easy integration with control computers and avoiding the need for drivers. Two control systems are foreseen. A Socket connection provides easy interaction with automation software regardless of the operating system used for the control PC. Moreover a web server may run on the Envision cards and provide an easy intuitive user interface. The system and its different components will be introduced. Some preliminary measurements with high speed signal links will be presented as well as the signal conditioning used to allow these rates.

As a third-generation universal I/O interconnect technology succeeding ISA and PCI bus, PCI Express has characteristics of lower pin count, higher reliability and faster transfer rate, which makes it a promising prospect. This paper studies PCI Express interface technology of DSP based on KeyStone architecture, and proposes a driver design method aimed at PCI Express interconnection between DSP and host PC. The method not only improves the data transfer rate but also reduces the difficulty of driver development, which effectively solves problem of high-speed communication. The proposed method which is verified on multi-core DSP-TMS320C6678 chip based on KeyStone architecture, obtains either read or write speed of more than 160MB/s both in Linux and Windows operating system, nearly up to 80% of theoretical bandwidth. Experimental results demonstrate that the method proposed above can effectively implement PCI Express driver development for DSP based on KeyStone architecture.

The Tore Supra tokamak real-time plasma control is based on measurements coming from various diagnostics. The complexity of all the events that occur during plasma is at the origin of measurements disturbances which have to be corrected in real time in order to ensure an optimal control. The signal correction does not just mean processing but requires complex algorithms. Electronics does not only need to process and adapt electrical signals, but it has to include corrections by mathematical calculation. The FPGA (field-programmable gate array) technology, with the help of basic adapted electronics, allows integrating the entire real time calculation and digital data transmission on the network. FMC (FPGA Mezzanine Card) coupled with in-house motherboard, which is used both as the interface with Tore Supra specific systems and as the support for other signals processing options, is the perfect answer to this request. The FMC includes a FPGA, memory, Ethernet port and multiple I/O for interfacing with the motherboard and Tore Supra signals. The algorithms are developed in VHDL (Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language), parallel process management that promotes faster calculation than a common μC (Micro-controller) in one clock pulse. The flexibility, the low cost and the implementation speed allow fitting a large number of various applications in fields where no “off-the-shelf” component can be found. And more specifically, in research and experimentation, algorithms can be continuously improved or modified for new requirements.

The IAEA, in collaboration with the Joint Research Center (Ispra, IT) and Hybrid Instruments (Lancaster, UK), has developed a full scale, liquid scintillator-based active interrogation system to determine uranium (U) mass in fresh fuel assemblies. The system implements an array of moderate volume (~1000ml) liquid scintillator detectors, a multichannel pulse shape discrimination (PSD) system, and a high-speed data acquisition and signal processing system to assess the U content of fresh fuel assemblies. Extensive MCNPX-PoliMi modelling has been carried out to refine the system design and optimize the detector performance. These measurements, traditionally performed with 3 He-based assay systems (e.g., Uranium Neutron Coincidence Collar [UNCL], Active Well Coincidence Collar [AWCC]), can now be performed with higher precision in a fraction of the acquisition time. The system uses a high-flashpoint, non-hazardous scintillating fluid (EJ309) enabling their use in commercial nuclear facilities and achieves significantly enhanced performance and capabilities through the combination of extremely short gate times, adjustable energy detection threshold, real-time PSD electronics, and high-speed, FPGA-based data acquisition. Given the possible applications, this technology is also an excellent candidate for the replacement of select 3 He-based systems. Comparisons to existing 3 He-based active interrogation systems are presented where possible to provide a baseline performance reference. This paper will describe the laboratory experiments and associated modelling activities undertaken to develop and initially test the prototype detection system.

For the deep-hole drilling bit works in closed or half-closed condition and the cutting situation can not be observed and controlled directly,it brings a big challenge to monitor the cutting tools and the cutting *** solve the problem,improved testing methods and data processing techniques were developed.A new condition monitoring method of deep-hole drilling based on multi-sensor data fusion was discussed in the *** signals of vibration and cutting force were collected when the condition of deep-hole drilling on stainless steel was normal and *** eigenvectors were extracted on time-domain analysis and frequency-domain analysis of the *** the combined four eigenvectors were sent to BP neural networks data fusioning *** fusioning results indicate that cutting force signal can reflect the condition of drill bit better than vibration signal and multi-sensor data fusion is superior to single-sensor.

The third Audio-Visual Emotion Challenge and workshop AVEC 2013 will be held in conjunction ACM Multimedia'13. Like the 2012 edition of AVEC, the workshop/challenge addresses the interpretation of social signals represented in both audio and video in terms of the high-level continuous dimensions arousal and valence, but importantly this year the data is that of a large number of clinically depressed patients and controls, with a sub-challenge in self-reported severity of depression estimation. Like both previous AVECs, the aim is to bring together the audio and video analysis communities.

The paper discussed the realization of workshop information acquisition and monitoring system which had three-layer network construction. According to analyzing the production information of the real-time monitoring workshop, raised the management network based on Ethernet which could manage order and tasks, the transmission network of data transmission, and the device network which was responsible for collecting real-time data. This system defined the management layer network communication protocol. The transmission layer and the device network use the standard protocol. The results indicate that the system realizes real-time data acquisition and workshop production of dynamic monitoring, ensures the efficient, safe, and orderly production.

Finding speaker turns and identifying the speakers is known as speaker diarization. In this study, the researchers integrate speaker diarization process with a speech-to-text task where training and/or test data may consist of two speakers using Gaussian Mixture Models. The study aims to measure how accurate the developed software in terms of missed rates, false alarm rates, speaker error rates and overall diarization error. Also, it aims to measure the accuracy of the developed dialogue transcriber software in terms of converting speech-to-text with or without proper nouns. After experimentation, results show that the Overall Diarization Error without proper nouns is 38.01% and with proper nouns got 38.16%. The dialogue transcriber is concluded to be 39.22% accurate without proper nouns while 29.95% accurate proper nouns. Based on the results, the researchers suggested enhancing the accuracy of speech-to-text system and expanding the study to more than two speakers.

Compressive spectral imaging combines traditional spectral imaging method with new concept of compressive sensing thus has the advantages such as reducing acquisition data amount, realizing snapshot imaging for large field of view and increasing image signal-to-noise and its preliminary application effectiveness has been explored by early usage on the occasions such as high-speed imaging and fluorescent imaging. In this paper, the application potentiality for spatial coding compressive spectral imaging technique on rural survey is revealed. The physical model for spatial coding compressive spectral imaging is built on which its data flow procession is analyzed and its data reconstruction issue is concluded. The existing sparse reconstruction methods are reviewed thus specific module based on the two-step iterative shrinkage/thresholding algorithm is built so as to execute the imaging data reconstruction. The simulating imaging experiment based on AVIRIS visible band data of a specific selected rural scene is carried out. The spatial identification and spectral featuring extraction capacity for different ground species are evaluated by visual judgment of both singleband image and spectral curve. The data fidelity evaluation parameters(RMSE and PSNR) are put forward so as to verify the data fidelity maintaining ability of this compressive imaging method quantitatively. The application potentiality of spatial coding compressive spectral imaging on rural survey, crop monitoring, vegetation inspection and further agricultural development demand is verified in this paper.
