A data analysis program has been developed and verified successfully for the new beam position monitor (BPM) system of the storage ring at Hefei Light Source (HLS). The new BPM system will be equipped with Libera Brilliance BPM processors in the upgrade project. The embedded system on Libera has completed some basic work, including data acquisition, position calculation, and EPICS IOC data output. A new record type has been developed to accomplish the beam position recalculation by log-ratio method. The new position signal's character was studied in the time and frequency domain. The software performed stably on-line and the preliminary results are presented. Copyright © 2012 by IEEE.

High Dynamic Range-HDR high resolution recording and processing are required for sonar images when the electronic noise floor from the sensor arrays is well below the ambient acoustic noise floor in the ocean in the frequency bands of interest, while maximum signal levels are determined by the transmitted source level used for the system. Practically one has to handle instantaneous dynamic ranges in excess of 100 dB to support both extremes so that the highlight structure details of close-in bottom features, which are required to classify, are maintained, especially when a number of systems operate in closer proximity. Therefore the data acquisition problems in high frequency high dynamic imaging sonar become critical. Commercially available data acquisition components cannot handle the wide bandwidths and high dynamic range required. An overview of a number of recent techniques based on the use of custom silicon band-pass sigma-delta converters developed for these types of applications is discussed in this paper. © 2012 IEEE.

In recent years, Gyro stabilized and tracking platform has been widely used in the guidance, airborne, ship-borne, the military area and civil area such as the weapon, missile seeker, sensing detection, public security fire control, environmental monitoring. In order to improve line of sight stabilization precision of the Infrared Guidance equipment to ensure the stability of the seeker pinpoint the maneuvering target, we do some researches about the essential technologies in the stability and precision of gyro. This paper developed a set of new stable platform used of three MEMS gyro devices based on the seeker of infrared detection system, in view of the zero shift stability for MEMS gyro, with the key technologies which are Kalman filtering and data fusion processing of theoretical research and experiment on the gyro signal.

This paper deals with the analysis of user perceived visual quality for mobile multimedia services. H.264/AVC is selected for low resolution video encoding, and 3G UMTS is considered for mobile data services. From subjective tests results, the combined impact of different service- and network-level parameters is inferred. As a result, different cross-layer adaptation alternatives are proposed to maximize the perceived quality level under different service conditions. © 2012 ICST Institute for Computer Science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

The NS-FFAG electron model 'EMMA' and its Injection and Extraction Lines are equipped with a total of fifty EPICS VME BPMs. For each injection, the ring BPMs deliver a snapshot of a turn-by-turn trajectory measured in each of 42 cells. Additional BPMs (two pairs) are used to obtain a turn-by-turn Poincare map. We describe some BPM features, the EPICS architecture, and a set of C#/Python/Mathematica data processing programs. We use pickup mappings that allow get a linear offset response and eliminate bunch charge signal dependence on offset. We present some beam measurement results collected in 2011-12 runs. Nowadays, internet becomes useful source of information in day-to-day life. It creates huge development of World Wide Web in its quantity of interchange and its size and difficulty of websites. Web Usage Mining (WUM) is one of the main applications of data mining, artificial intelligence and so on to the web data and forecast the user's visiting behaviors and obtains their interests by investigating the samples. Since WUM directly involves in large range of applications, such as, e-commerce, e-learning, Web analytics, information retrieval etc. Weblog data is one of the major sources which contain all the information regarding the users visited links, browsing patterns, time spent on a particular page or link and this information can be used in several applications like adaptive web sites, modified services, customer summary, pre-fetching, generate attractive web sites etc. There are several problems related with the existing web usage mining approaches. Existing web usage mining algorithms suffer from difficulty of practical applicability. So, a novel research is necessary for the accurate prediction of future performance of web users with rapid execution time. WUM consists of preprocessing, pattern discovery and pattern analysis. Log data is characteristically noisy and unclear. Hence, preprocessing is an essential process for effective mining process. In this paper, a novel pre-processing technique is proposed by removing local and global noise and web robots. Anonymous Microsoft Web dataset and *** Anonymous Web dataset are used for estimating the proposed preprocessing technique.

Image compression has become one of the most important disciplines in digital electronics because of the ever growing popularity and usage of the internet and multimedia systems combined with the high requirements of the bandwidth and storage space. The increasing volume of data generated by some medical imaging modalities which justifies the use of different compression techniques to decrease the storage space and efficiency of transfer the images over the network for access to electronic patient records. This paper addresses the area of data compression as it is applicable to image processing. Here we are presented an effective algorithm to compress and to reconstruct digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) images. Various image compression algorithms exist in today's commercial market. This paper outlines the comparison of compression methods such as JEPG, JEPG 2000 with SPIHT encoding on the basis of compression ratio and compression quality. The comparison of these compression methods are classified according to different medical images like MRI and CT. For JPEG based image compression RLE and Huffman encoding techniques are used by varying the bits per pixel. For JPEG 2000 based image compression SPIHT encoding method is used. The DCT and DWT methods are compared by varying bits per pixel and measured the performance parameters of MSE, PSNR and compression ratio. In JPEG 2000 method, compared the different wavelets like Haar, CDF 9/7, CDF 5/3 etc. and evaluated the compression ratio and compression quality. Also varied the decomposition levels of wavelet transform with different images.

Software defect detection has been an important topic of research in the field of software engineering for more than a decade. This research work aims to evaluate the performance of supervised machine learning techniques on predicting defective software through data mining algorithms. This paper places emphasis on the performance of classification algorithms in categorizing seven datasets (CM1, JM1, MW1, KC3, PC1, PC2, PC3 and PC4) under two classes namely Defective and Normal. In this study, publicly available data sets from different organizations are used. This permitted us to explore the impact of data from different sources on different processes for finding appropriate classification models. We propose a computational framework using data mining techniques to detect the existence of defects in software components. The framework comprises of data pre-processing, data classification and classifier evaluation. In this paper;we report the performance of twenty classification algorithms on seven publicly available datasets from the NASA MDP Repository. Random Tree Classification algorithm produced 100 percent accuracy in classifying the datasets and hence the features selected by this technique were considered to be the most significant features. The results were validated with suitable test data. © 2012 IEEE.

The Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO)-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is considered a key technology in modern wireless-access communication systems. The IEEE 802.16e standard, also denoted as mobile WiMAX, utilizes the MIMO-OFDM technology and it was one of the first initiatives towards the roadmap of fourth generation systems. This paper presents the PHY-layer design, implementation and validation of a high-performance real-time 2x2 MIMO mobile WiMAX transmitter that accounts for low-level deployment issues and signal impairments. The focus is mainly laid on the impact of the selected high bandwidth, which scales the implementation complexity of the baseband signal processing algorithms. The latter also requires an advanced pipelined memory architecture to timely address the data-path operations that involve high memory utilization. We present in this paper a first evaluation of the extracted results that demonstrate the performance of the system using a 2x2 MIMO channel emulation. © 2012 ICST Institute for Computer Science, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Affective computer interfaces improve human-computer interaction by enabling the communication of the user's emotional state. To this end, subtle non-verbal methods of communication provide a rich source of information which may provide valuable affective context to the human-computer interaction. Of particular note are physiological indicators of affective state, as these are objective in nature and have been demonstrated to be successful in many studies. Physiological computing may be viewed as a data acquisition and signal processing task whereby the electrical impulses or biopotentials created by the body are captured, analyzed and recorded in a suitable format for later communication. Whilst there are a number of commercially available hardware platforms to support physiological data acquisition, these all possess limitations in a few distinct areas. Not least of these is the physical form factor. For such devices to be embedded and integrated into the next generation of computer interfaces, an open physiological platform is required. This will enable future development to build upon this foundation and concentrate on novel and unique form factors and implementation environments. This paper describes the development and implementation of an open affective platform. This hardware and software solution provides the necessary functionality to measure and describe the users underlying affective state in terms of its component dimensions. This data may then be communicated to other application software, or modules within a larger affective computing application.
