This article presents an error protection method that uses error-condition forecasting. The forecasting procedure uses a-priori acquired knowledge of the Probability-of-Error (PoE), along a route that a mobile client (MC) is expected to traverse. Additional parity data, called Geo-Predictive forward error correcting codes (GP-FEC), is computed over each source block and broadcast before the source block. A mobile client (MC) forecasts the error conditions it could experience in the future, and if needed, fetches and uses GP-FEC. Forecasting and time-diversity due to staggered transmission of GP-FEC, results in improved error robustness. The superior performance of the presented method against conventional broadcasting is verified in simulations using the Digital Video Broadcasting-Handhelds (DVB-H) environment.

The signal acquisition and processing of homogenizing pressure in high pressure homogenizer are studied. For the measuring requirements of dynamic parameters in high pressure homogenizer, pressure transmitter, the signal collecting circuits about intensifier pump's motion were selected. The signal acquisition system can perform the functions such as signal collecting, recording and data recalling and so on. Moreover, the wavelet decomposition using 'sym4' at level 10 was used for de-noising of homogenizing pressure signal. The decomposed signal is selected through Birge-Massart threshold strategy and reconstructed. After collected and processed, the homogenizing pressure signal can be the foundational data for analyzing the homogenizing process and improving the crucial structure of high pressure homogenizer.

A new partial common-offset common reflection surface (CO CRS) stacking method is developed in this paper to enhance the quality of sparse low fold seismic data. A multiparameter CO CRS traveltime formula is applied to compute partially stacked CRS supergathers, which have improved signal-to-noise ratio compared with the original data and are regularized by filling the gaps in cases of missing traces. These improved prestack data can be used in many conventional processing steps, e.g., velocity analysis or prestack depth migration instead of the original data. Application on model data reveals that comparing with the image section obtained from the original seismic data, the image section by the application of depth migration with the CO CRS supergathers improves not only the signal-to-noise ratio but also the continuity of reflection events, which has better imaging results.

A numerical procedure able to effectively eliminate close-to-coherent noise from measured data is presented. Although the dataprocessing of probe measurements in Tokamak machines was the initial motivation, the current procedure is quite general concerning the kind and the source of data it can be applied to. As a result, the procedure can be useful for decreasing drastically the acquisition-time that otherwise is required to achieve acceptable signal-to-noise ratios in a very wide range of measurements.

The present paper discusses the characterisation of toothbrushing activity, using acceleration data collected for 50 subjects in free-living conditions. The data logging is triggered by super-threshold values of acceleration, which can give rise to false activations by non-brushing activities. Due to large intra and inter individual variations, it is not possible to obtain an exhaustive training-set of all activities that trigger the logging. Thus, a structural analysis of appropriate data features is performed, which reveals a clustering of the data. The comparison with brushing activity traces from laboratory experiments allows the identification of toothbrushing activity, while the remainder corresponds to various false activation events like electronic noise or brush handling. The distribution of the resulting toothbrushing activity shows distinct peaks for morning and night brushing activity.

This paper proposes an improved signal component separation (SCS) method to solve the non-constant envelop modulated signals through traditional SCS in LINC (Linear Amplification With Nonlinear Components) transmitter. The basic idea of this algorithm is to analyze the angle between adjacent signals, then adopting the method which can improve the signal peak to average power ratio (P APR) and introducing the idea of "keep and go", to minimize envelope mutations caused by the errors from COrdIC algorithm processing, so that the ideal signal envelope can be obtained. The experimental simulation demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility of this algorithm. The signal P APR can be reduced to 0.0010dB through data from experimental measurements, which is more convenient for linear power amplifier design.

Karhunen-Loeve Transform (KLT) is the statistically best block transform. In terms of decorrelation of the signal samples and repacking energy distributing, the signal dependent transform of KLT was used in noise eliminating, data compression and features extraction for ECG. Experimental results proved that KLT was proper for suppressing noise of low self-correlated property, e. g. white noise, but has little use for noise of high self-correlation such as power line interference. KLT got high compression ratio at the cost of low information fidelity, though the coding procedure might remove certain noise. KLT was more remarkable for its role in feature extraction, e. g. to distinguish between normal sinus beats from abnormal waveform morphologies. In conclusion, KLT is well suited in ECG processing of noise canceling and data compression, especially a good candidate for robust feature extraction.

The present work is oriented to offer a communication system to people who undergo a severe loss of motor function as a result of various accidents and/or diseases so that they can control and interact better with the environment, for which a brain-computer interface has been implemented through the acquisition of EEG signals by electrodes and implementation of algorithms to extract characteristics and execute a method of classification that would interpret these signals and execute corresponding actions The first objective is to design and construct a system of communication and control based on the thought, able to catch and measure EEG signals. The second objective is to implement the system of data acquisition including a digital filter in real time that allows us to eliminate the noise. The third objective is to analyze the variation of the EEG signals in front of the different tasks under study and of implementing an algorithm of extraction of characteristics. The fourth objective is to work on the basis of the characteristics of the EEG signals, to implement a classification system that can discriminate between the two tasks under study on the basis of the corresponding battles.
