In this paper novel distributed universal compaction algorithm for support of multipoint to point or point to point transmission in opposite direction is presented. Most of the energy needed for executing the algorithm is used in receiving (supportive) node, which is supposed to have plenty of energy for transmission. It generates appropriate (supportive) sequence, which is received by a supported node with limited energy resources. The supported node when it needs to transmit stored information towards the supportive node sends a short message (in extreme case only one pulse) in agreed time point after it discovers a string in the supportive sequence, which is identical to a prefix of the string of stored data, which waits for transmission towards the supportive node. Results of simplified simulation experiments are presented as well. They give proof of the concept for point to point communication. Possible application in Un-attended WSN in order to increase security (help to hide Wireless Sensors) or in wireless passive sensor network in order to increase WSN lifetime are viable.

EOG is a very effective eye movement recording method, which is not only noninvasive, but also can record any eye movements' information. In order to extract some features come form these information contained in EOG automatically, this paper presents a novel EOG feature parameters extraction algorithm. The proposed algorithm includes three main parts. The first is endpoint detection unit which detects the startpoint and endpoint of EOG signals. The second is a preprocessor which consists of band-pass filter, frame blocking procedure and windowing step. The third is feature parameters extracting part which extracts EOG feature by a linear predictive coding model and converts LPC parameters to LPC cepstral (LPCC) coefficients. Finally, the paper gives experimental results.

This paper presents a new model of distributed wireless telemedicine physiological monitor center, which is developed by the Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) and integrates general packet radio service (GPRS) technology and signal processing with DSP processor. At the patient's location, a wireless PDA-based monitor is used to continuously acquire the patient's vital signs, including heart rate, ECG, SpO2 and so on. Through the internet and LAN, the patient's physiological signals can be transmitted in real-time to telemedicine monitor central unit, and the unit can access the data and the case history of the patient to medicine database. This paper presents our prototype implementation of signal processing based on a high-performance DSP processor on distributed nodes. The nodes analyze the patient physiology signal data which transmits from the central server through the LAN and transmits the results to telemedicine monitor central through the LAN. The results of the designing also show that the wireless telemedicine physiological monitor center model is superior to the currently used monitors both in mobility and in usability, and, therefore, is better suitable for monitor patients under the state of activities.

In this paper the impact of the overlay of CDMA2000 1x-EVDO and CDMA2000 cellular systems in terms of throughput is investigated. Currently, the 3G cellular systems furthermore to provide only voice services are focusing to offer a variety of data applications such as VoIP, video, telephony, wireless gaming, and push-to-talk (PTT), along with a high demand of downlink intensive applications. The result was a high-rate wireless packet data system with substantial improvement in the downlink capacity and coverage over traditional CDMA2000. Therefore, it results interesting to analyze the possible coexistence of traditional cellular systems which provide voice communication services via circuit-switched networks and data cellular systems. Thus, in this work our proposal is to analyze the impact of the overlay in the throughput of the CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network.

A method to determine the parameters of directional motion blurring noise using edge detectors is developed in this paper. Once the parameters characterizing the blurring noise are known, the point spread function (PSF) of the blurring noise can be reconstructed and the noise subsequently eliminated. The algorithm uses an edge detector with dynamic thresholding to extract edge information from an image at several threshold values. First the blurring angle is determined by rotating the image prior to edge extraction and the angle with the highest difference in edge count and its corresponding perpendicular angle is determined and considered to be the angle at which shifting has occurred. After the blurring shifting angle has been found, the pixel displacement length is determined using an iterative blind deconvolution process. Finally, once both the shifting angle and pixel displacement length are known the point spread function (PSF) of the blurring noise corrupting the image can be reconstituted.

Tangent vectors are one of the best tools for learning variability in handwritten digits. Many research works indicate that tangent vectors provide a significant improvement of accuracy especially when used with SVM classifiers. However, since they are based on the use of affine transformations they substantially extend the runtime. In addition, the user should adequately select the transformations in order to highlight the variability of data. The present work aims to exploit accuracy improvement of tangent vectors while reducing the runtime. Therefore, we investigate the use of tangent vectors that are a priori extracted from training data. The idea is to substitute each pattern by its tangent vector Mahalanobis (TVM) distances with respect to all classes. Then, a SVM is trained over TVM values, which contain a priori knowledge and have a smaller size than digit images. Experiments performed on USPS database showed that the proposed approach improves recognition accuracy and allows a huge reduction in the runtime.

The notion of combining redundant and complementary sensory data to achieve higher quality information has been around for long time. For example, biological systems usually rely on fusion of multimodality sensory data to perceive the surrounding environment. There has been an ever-increasing interest in multi-disciplinary research on multisensor data fusion technology driven by its versatility and diverse areas of application. This paper presents an overview of data fusion state of the art discussing advances in fusion methodologies and architectures. In addition, future directions of research in data fusion community including large-scale, hybrid, secure fusion, and importance of standard evaluation framework are highlighted and described.

In this paper, a water quality evaluation model of nearshore (Dalian Bay) is built through artificial neural network based on the analysis of history information and monitoring data. In which a back propagation (BP) network is used. A hierarchical prediction model is established according to water quality at different period. Results illustrates the methodology is practicable and can be provided scientific proof for water quality evaluation and prevention of Dalian Bay. The method does not demand data's rules and has the characteristic of impersonality, credibility and highly inaccuracy permission. At the same time the predictive relative error is little.

In this paper, the integration of auxiliary features in Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system is presented. In particular, we concentrate on the potential benefits of the combination of auxiliary features with standard acoustic parameters in adverse acoustic environments. The experiments were fulfilled using the HTK Toolkit and ARADIGIT corpus which is a data base of Arabic spoken words. The obtained results show that while the integration of the auxiliary features with the standard parameters by SI (Separate Integration) strategy leads to small improvements in the two test environments (clean and noisy), their integration by DI (Direct Integration) strategy leads to a significant improvement of the recognition system performance in noisy environment.

Independent component analysis (ICA) is an effective source separation method, and has been widely used in fetal signal detection from abdominal maternal electrocardiogram (ECG) and magnetocardiography (MCG). One difficulty with the application of ICA is to determine the character information of independent components. A method, based on a simple statistical parameter-kurtosis, is proposed in this paper to solve the problem. It has been successfully applied to remove the maternal signal and the noise from the raw fetal MCG (fMCG) data of a 28-week pregnant woman through a *** fMCG detector. The method offers potential applications for online processing of fMCG using ICA.
