This method reduces the noise signal and retains the useful signal. processing results indicated that logs profiles, the clarity of which had been raised, had less noise through wavelet package de-noising disposal, and could be more effectively used in comprehensive interpretation when combining with other logs.

To extract sub-signal of heart period signal (HPS), an important signalprocessing approach, called Wavelet Transform (WT) was addressed. Electrocardiosignal (ECS) was acquired from ten volunteers. ECS was sampled 8 minutes when volunteer was lying, then the same as standing. HPS was extracted from ECS. Wavelet Transform decomposed HPS into one detailed level and one approximation. HPS, approximation and detail were transformed by fast Fourier transformation (FFT). Power indexes were calculated. The total power of HPS has significantly varied. (P<0.05). The power of approximation was significantly increased (P<0.01), that of detail had no significant change (P>0.05) and the ratio of approximation to total power also was increased significantly (P<0.05) from lying to standing. Compared with the two postural results, it shows that approximation signal may express sympathetic activity, and detail signal represents parasympathetic activity. Sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous function can be evaluated respectively and quantificationally by data and graphs from the two decomposed components by Wavelet Transform.

Software applications that involve multimedia signalprocessing typically have to process large amounts of data. They often involve the handling of data arrays in the form of nested loops. Experiments show that for this kind of applications data transfer (memory access) operations consume much more power than data-path operations. Our objective is to reduce memory access related power consumption by reducing the number of data transfers between processor and memory, or between a higher (closer to processor) level of memory and a memory at a lower level using source program transformation. The procedure involves profiling, inlining and globed transformation. The effectiveness of this procedure is illustrated by applying it to the software for a wideband adaptive multi-rate (WB-AMR) speech decoder which can be obtained from the official website of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

The low strain reflection wave method plays a principal rule in the integrating detection of base piles. However, there are some deficiencies with this method. For example, there is a blind area of detection on top of the tested pile;it is difficult to recognize the defects at deep-seated parts of the pile;there is still the planar or three-dimensional domino effect, etc. It is very difficult to solve these problems only with the single-transducer pile integrity testing system. A new multi-signal piles integrity testing system is proposed in this paper, which is able to impulse and collect signals on multiple points on top of the pile. By using the multiple superposition dataprocessing method, the detecting system can effectively restrain the interference and elevate the precision and SNR of pile integrity testing. The system can also be applied to the evaluation of engineering structure health.

In this paper we present a semi-Automatic method for creating annotated data sets from German-language broadcast resources for which audio files as well as transcripts are available on the Internet. The transcripts are required to be reasonably accurate, but not perfect. Our approach is implemented by a integrated bundle of dataprocessing tools, which support the human annotator in the creation of an annotated data set specialized for research in the area of spoken document classification and retrieval. Annotation decisions that would require prohibitively large amounts training data or system development time to make automatically are taken over by the human annotator. Annotation decisions which are easily automated and tedious for humans are shouldered by the computer. Using our method we can process and annotate the data approximately ten times faster that it was possible by hand. The data is downloaded and the transcripts are normalized by a series of filters as well as a semi-Automatic digit to text conversion. Then, the system makes use of the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) to segment the audio data and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) to forced-Alignment of the speech signal with written transcripts. We demonstrate the method with the concrete example of our Deutsche Welle database of programs from the Kalenderblatt radio series.

The nature and sheer amount of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) data requires careful and judicious processing to appropriate aggregation levels and sampling frames to make the real-time traffic data more meaningful to transportation planners. Traditional aggregation techniques cannot eliminate the unnecessary noises and are unable to tell out what information was attracted and what remains. In this research, the real time ITS data were decomposed by the wavelet transformation. The measuring noises as well as the various useful signal components were then identified. The proper aggregation level, which is able to capture the required component and eliminate other unnecessary ones, was conducted from the well-designed sampling frequency. As a result of this research, computer software compiled in MATLAB was developed which can provide the aggregation levels and aggregated data series for different planning purposes.
