Rapid or real time dense 3d reconstruction of indoor or outdoor model using mobile phone camera has become an active research topic because of the importance of 3d models in different application like remote monitoring system andvisualization. In this paper we propose an application as well a system architecture which captures images using a hand held mobile Smart phone and generate an accurate anddense 3d model in a connected server using parallel computation. The method performs near real time accurate dense 3d model generation from streaming data. The application is capable of adaptive datatransmission based on available network bandwidth. A comparison is presented for different amount of datatransmission. The main computation is performed on a high end server system that reconstructs an accurate and complete 3d model with registration between all created models.

In order to analyze the sensitivity of children to RF fields and mobile phones in particular, the SAR (Specific Absorption Ratio) defined as the power absorbed by a unit of mass of tissues (W/kg) should be computed based on a numerical model of the head. We propose to build realistic models from 3d-MRI of children heads. The method is composed of two steps. The first one consists in segmenting the main tissues in these images (skin, fat, muscles, cortical and marrow bones, cerebrospinal fluid, grey and white matter, blood, etc.). The segmentation is based on mathematical morphology methods which are well adapted to this aim and provide a robust and automatic method requiring minimum user intervention. Using simplified segmented images, the second step concerns the tetrahedral mesh generation. Our method uses almost regular meshes and topological tools to preserve the topological arrangement of the head tissues. A method to guarantee a good geometrical quality is also provided.

In this paper we advocate the rise of a focal region-guided feature-based volume renderer that offers an alternative for visualization of internal structures of volumetric data. We describe this promising technique for communicating the first impression of object shape or contour while at the same time providing detailed information of volumetric data with the use of lens-like focal region. We designed a method for generating object contours and enhancing volumetric features to depict context information out of focal region based on gradient volume. In the focal region, we render interesting volume data rising the direct volume rendering method. The rendering is guided by,focal region through which we can specify what subset to render. The connection between the structure of inside and outside of focal region gives a better understanding of spatial relationship. This is to better communicate the existence, form, and location of underlying targets while minimally occluding them.

data-driven approach is an appealing way to depict people in a virtual world. The captured shape and movement data from real people are structured and combined to reproduce or create new samples in an intuitive and controllable way. We focus on the body shape modeling and elucidate the issues related to data-driven methods. The difficulty of adopting data-driven approach for human body shape modeling is due in part to the intrinsic articulated structure of the body. Since such internal structure is not measured with most of existing capture devices available today, it has to be calculated through estimation. We develop a framework for collecting and managing range scan data that automatically estimates this structure from user-tagged landmarks. By framing the captured and structurally annotateddata so that statistic implicit is exploited for synthesizing new body shapes, our technique support time-saving generation of animatable body models with high realism.

The storage and later retrieval of observeddata is an essential part of an), support system aiding the safe operation and maintenance of a nuclear power plant. Archiving such data, however which is broadly spread over space and time, is challenging: problems include how to reduce the amount of data, how to maintain relationships between data, how, to normalize the data and so on. We propose a new concept, 4d Visible Memory, whose basic idea is to store the data in a virtual space extended in the time dimension, as a solution. In this paper, a specific system which embodies the concept in the special case of archiving the image data gathered by mobile robots is introduced. We present a 3d reconstruction and modeling system that operates on a number of input photographs that show a natural scene. Approaches from computer graphics and image processing are combined and performance is shown via experiments. Furthermore, reconstruction quality is analyzed w.r.t. the number anddistribution of textures, used for reconstruction. The reconstruction pipeline starts with image acquisition, which consists of a number of photographs of the scene that are sequentially taken at different positions. Since the photographs are not acquired concurrently, they are influenced by different illumination conditions that we mandate to be preserved in the final 3d representation. In the second step, object segmentation is applied and camera calibration provided. This allows the application of shape-from-silhouette approaches, namely a hierarchical voxel approach, where different resolution layers are organized within an octree structure. For applying texture mapping, the voxel model is transformed into a wireframe, which provides smoothing of the object's surface and also reduces the number of surface primitives. Finally, a subset of original images is mapped onto the 3d geometry to provide texture information. Here, view-adaptive multi-texturing is used to preserve natural illumination. Intermediate views are interpolated automatically using adaptive real-time weight calculations for original textures.

It has been suggested that segmentation of the reconstructed image can restore the quantitative information in the image.
