The computational power and the physical memory size of a single GPU device are often insufficient for large-scale problems. Using CUDA, the user must explicitly partition such problems into several tasks repeating the data transfer and kernel execution. To use multiple GPUs, explicit device switching is also needed. Furthermore, low-level hand optimizations such as load balancing and determining task granularity are required to achieve high performance. To handle large-scale problems without any additional user code, we introduce an implicit dynamic task scheduling scheme to our CUDA variation MESI-CUDA. MESI-CUDA is designed to abstract the low-level GPU features;virtual shared variables and logical thread mappings hide the complex memory hierarchy and physical characteristics. On the other hand, explicit parallel execution using kernel functions is the same as in CUDA. In our scheme, each kernel invocation in the user code is translated into a job submission to the runtime scheduler. The scheduler partitions a job into tasks considering the device memory size and dynamically schedules them to the available GPU devices. Thus the user can simply specify kernel invocations independent of the execution environment. The evaluation result shows that our scheme can automatically utilize heterogeneous GPU devices with small overhead.

Many HPC applications developed over the past two decades have used Fortran and MPI-based parallelization. As the size of today's HPC resources continues to increase, these codes struggle to efficiently utilize the million-way parallelism of these platforms. Rewriting these codes from scratch to leverage modern programming paradigms would be time-consuming and error-prone. We evaluate a robust approach for interfacing with next-generation C++-based libraries and drivers. We have successfully used this technique to modify the Fortran code DGSWEM (Discontinuous Galerkin Shallow Water Equation Model), allowing it to take advantage of the new parallel runtime system HPX. Our goal was to make as few modifications to the DGSWEM Fortran source code as possible, thereby minimizing the chances of introducing bugs and reducing the amount of re-verification that needed to be done.

Software testing plays an important role in software development because it can minimize the development cost. Software testing approaches are divided into three parts i.e. code based testing, specification based testing and model based testing. In model based testing, the testing begins at design phase. So, early detection of faults can be achieved by using this approach further reducing time, cost and efforts of the developer to a large extent. In this paper we propose a technique for generating test cases using both UML sequence diagram and state chart diagram. Our approach is to convert Sequence Diagram into Sequence Graph and then to convert State Chart Diagram into State chart Graph. Finally System Testing Graph (SYTG) is formed by combining the two Graphs. From the graphs different control flow sequences also called test cases are identified and then optimized using evolutionary Algorithm, called Genetic Algorithm. Although State chart did better at revealing unit level faults and sequence diagram is better at removing integration level faults, but after integrating the two graphs, generated test cases are appropriate for system testing and to identify Error handling, correctness, pre-post condition faults, interaction, message sequence faults and scenario faults. Energy optimization and energy aware operations are the key area of research in the field of Wireless Sensor Network. Many of the researchers works on the energy aware algorithms, software and node design. But, these works lack the holistic approach. The other check is whether the amount invested on the energy improvements is paid back in recent times by the amount saved out of the energy. The holistic and integrated energy management framework Aatral is proposed which gives the control dashboard to monitor, optimize and harvest the energy related to Wireless Sensor Network. The cost of energy usage is also tracked by the framework subunit - energy economics calculator, for later reference. The automated report generation, alert creation is configured in the workflow engine of the framework. The energy measures and indices calculated for a profile are getting stored in the database with the timestamp in the database. The energy variance comparison operation plots energy variance graphs of the energy observation for a profile and the benchmark available for the WSN profile. The performance of the network in terms of throughput, latency are validated before and after energy improvement for fairness.

Domain generation Algorithm (DGA) has evolved as one of the most dangerous and "undetectable" digital security deception methods. The complexity of this approach (combined with the intricate function of the fast-flux "botnet" networks) is the cause of an extremely risky threat which is hard to trace. In most of the cases it should be faced as zero-day vulnerability. This kind of combined attacks is responsible for malware distribution and for the infection of Information Systems. Moreover it is related to illegal actions, like money mule recruitment sites, phishing websites, illicit online pharmacies, extreme or illegal adult content sites, malicious browser exploit sites and web traps for distributing virus. Traditional digital security mechanisms face such vulnerabilities in a conventional manner, they create often false alarms and they fail to forecast them. This paper proposes an innovative fast and accurate evolving Smart URL Filter (eSURLF) in a Zone-based Policy Firewall (ZFW) which uses evolving Spiking Neural Networks (eSNN) for detecting algorithmically generated malicious domains names.

Sputtered titanium nitride (TiN) with a novel N-2 ratio adjustment and rapid thermal annealing (RTA) treatment are proposed in order to optimize pH sensing performance of electrolyte-insulator-semiconductor (EIS) structure. Selection of this methodology, which can be easily applied into standard CMOS and DRAM technology, results from the fact that TiN is a well-verified material as a buffer or a barrier layer. It was concluded that pH sensitivity of the order of 60.5 mV/pH and linearity of 99.9% could be obtained for a TiN/SiO2 EIS structure treated with N-2 ratio of 20% and RTA at 800 degrees C, which could be a good candidate in sensor applications. This performance is stable for more than two months. Higher surface roughness shown in atomic force microscope (AFM) analysis and high oxygen level in sputtering process shown in x-ray photo photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) could be the reasons for the high sensitivity of the fabricated TIN sensing layer. This paper proposes a new hybrid particle swarm optimization with gravitational search algorithm to solve the economic/environment optimal power flow dispatching incorporating wind power generations into the isolated Adrar Algerian power system. Taking into account the intermittent of the wind speed, the maximum probable active wind power generation is estimated by computing the wind speed carried maximum energy. The simulation results obtained from the proposed algorithm shows that this algorithm is capable to give higher quality solutions to solve a real optimal power flow dispatching problem with a fast convergence.

We present an approach to schedule Long Term Evolution (LTE) uplink (UL) Machine to Machine (M2M) traffic in a densely deployed heterogeneous network, over the lamp posts of a big boulevard for smart city applications. The small cells operate with frequency reuse 1 and Inter-Cell Interference (ICI) is a critical issue to manage. We consider a Release 9 3rd generation Partnership Project (3GPP) compliant scenario, where Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) is selected as the multiple access scheme, which requires that all Resource Block (RB)s allocated to a single user have to be contiguous in frequency within each time slot. This adjacency constraint limits the flexibility of the Frequency-Domain Packet Scheduling (FDPS) and Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC), when trying to maximize the scheduling objectives, and this is sufficient to make the problem NP-hard. We aim to solve an optimization problem, taking into account criteria such as the maximization of the overall throughput, the minimization of the radio resource usage, and the minimization of ICI. This can be modelled through a Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) and solved through a heuristic implementable in the standards. We present simulation results in a 3GPP compliant network simulator, which support the effectivity of our algorithm, for different M2M applications, with respect to state of the art approaches.

During the last decade, Solar energy has been the fastest growing renewable source of energy worldwide. Limited sources of fossil fuel in addition to the negative effects of greenhouse emissions on the environment have led many countries to support development of renewable energies such as solar energy. However, solar power has a number of problems for implementation;the solar energies mainly depend upon sun availability and the changing climate. The focus on hybrid generation system increases the availability of power generation system by reducing the dependence on environment parameter. The purpose of this paper is concerned with the use of harmony search (HS) meta-heuristic optimization method to solve the problem of hybrid power system design optimization. We consider the case where redundant electrical components are chosen to achieve desirable level of reliability. To allow fast estimation, a universal moment generating function UMGF and harmony search HS are applied. An illustrative example is presented.
