As an introduction to the current approaches to building's greening and sustainability this paper outlines the intrinsic harmony of the traditional village houses encompassing efficiency and balanced use of renewable materials and energy sources. Further paper reviews technical advances in integrating energy efficiency, solar and other renewable energy sources in new and existing buildings, to approach sustainable net Zero Energy Buildings, villages and cities. Paper stresses importance of the BPS (Building Performance Simulation) and Co-simulation in developing reliable method/engineering procedures for RES co-utilization and interwoven "energy mix" scenarios optimization, including existing buildings RES integrated refurbishment. Finally, presented are study results on the technical feasibility of efficient/cost-effective use of relatively low temperature geothermal waters for co-and tri-generation of electricity and heat for heating and/or cooling by absorption refrigeration for building integration. As a result of global warming a need for air conditioning is in extreme growth in Central and Southeastern Europe, as well as in many other regions in the world rich in low temperature geothermal waters

The objective of this study is to determine the technical and economical feasibility of a PV-natural gas hybrid power system to supply electricity and energy for a university in Malaysia. The yearly average daily solar radiation received at the university campus area is about 4.77 kWh/m 2 and this provides for the implementation of a hybrid PV power system. Hybrid optimization Model for Electric Renewables (HOMER) software was used to size, simulate and evaluate the hybrid power system in this analysis. The simulations provide some insights into the monthly electricity generated by the photovoltaic-natural gas system, net present cost (NPC) and cost of energy (COE) of the system, renewable fraction (RF) and greenhouse gas emissions of the system. The simulation in HOMER was performed for a 2MW PV generator together with 8.4 MW gas generator. From the simulation results, it is found that for a hybrid system with RF of 9%, the NPC of the hybrid system is US$ 123,231,728 and the COE is $0.272 which is much lower than what it would cost for a gas only system (RF is 0%). With the inclusion of PV, the amount of natural gas burned in the hybrid system was reduced and this in turn reduced the amount of environmentally polluting gases emitted into the atmosphere by 7.2% as compared to a gas only system. This analysis suggests that a PV hybrid power system should be implemented as it a cleaner and more economical method of power generation.

The reuse-rate of vector register is one of the most important aspects that influence the SIMD performance. However, the reuse of vector register probably can lead ton on-continuous memory access and non-hit of cache. Based on register reuse analysis, we establish a cost analysis that guide the multiple code generation. Then we perform NPB test based on different problem-scale and the result shows that program can reap an optimal performance as a result of this optimization, which can avoid low cache hit rate arose by vector register reuse for SIMD code generation. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of energy saving (ES) for wireless access networks, especially for the inter-eNB scenario 2 which is a typical non-overlapped scenario specified by 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP). Due to the uneven distribution of the traffic load both over time and over cells, energy efficiency can be improved by switching off some eNBs or reducing their transmission power according to the actual traffic demand. Considering this characteristic of wireless networks, we propose a flexible and efficient solution based on the load information of each cell and the idea of multi-hop load release. The proposed solution is flexible to support different heterogeneous network architecture and different optimization cases with less signaling overhead. Moreover, the gradual multi-hop load release mechanism can efficiently release the load to the whole network and then maximize the total energy efficiency. Simulation results demonstrate that the ES gain of the proposed solution can reach about 25% with appropriate values of different thresholds for event triggering.

In this paper, a system is presented, which accurately synthesizes and coherently samples sinusoidal signals. The system, based on an atomic clock which disciplines both a signal generator and a data acquisition board, has been used to analyze the code excitation statistics of a coherently sampled sinewave, as a function of the selected sinewave parameters, including overdrive and initial phase. Experimental verifications have been carried out, aimed at investigating the problem of designing efficient stimuli for ADC testing purposes.

Ant Colony Algorithm (ACA) and generation Algorithm (GA) are two bionic optimization algorithm, they are also two powerful and effective algorithms for solving the combination optimization problems, moreover they all were successfully used in traveling salesman problem (TSP). This paper syncretizes two algorithms, meanwhile, a new syncretic method is put forward. The simulation results show that the new algorithm of ACA and GA is better at improving global convergence and quickening the speed of convergence. © 2010 IEEE.

It is evident that the 3G(3rd-generation) and B3G(BeyondThirdgenerationin mobile communication system) communication systems need higher wireless capacity. Multi-user detection(MUD) technique is one of the key techniques in code Division Multiple-Access(CDMA) system. This technique can reduce the multiple access interference (MAI) and inter symbol interference (ISI) by using the structured information at the receiving end in the CDMA system, and it can also realize the information demodulation while there exist multi-user signals. This paper presents a new Multi-user detection technique, that is simulated annealing-genetic algorithm. This proposed algorithm applies simulated annealing (SA) to genetic algorithm (GA). First, the initial group is given, then the genetic algorithm is used to make the search gradually convergent to the feasible globally optimal solution or sub-optimal solution, then the simulated annealing is used to do the local optimization. Simulations show that the proposed multi-user detector is close to the optimal one and better than the conventional one in the performance of anti-MAI and anti-ISI. © 2010 IEEE.

The approach of available transfer capability （denoted as ATC） incorporating wind generation has been paid very high attention since the development of wind generation. Based on the maximum function, this paper presents an ATC model. The characteristic of the new model is twofold. First, it considers wind turbines connected to power system and static security of power system simultaneously. Second, it is a system of semismooth equations and can be solved easily. By using the smoothing strategy, a smoothing Newton method is adopted for solving the proposed new ATC model. Numerical simulation results of the IEEE 30-bus and 118-bus system show that the new model and algorithm are feasible and effective. The impact of wind turbines connected to power system on ATC is also analyzed.
