Flex sensors are widespread in engineering and automation fields and their scope is increasing in biometrics and biomedical fields. The property exhibited by the flex sensors to change its resistance with the changes in physical flexing, can be used to construct an elementary authentication method based on the physiological characteristics of the human hand. Also, the changes in resistance can be associated with time dimension to implement a novel way of user verification based on the human hand dynamics. Inclusion of various time parameters such as rate of change of resistance or its further derivatives, along with space parameters (resistance variation) of flex sensors makes this technique reliable and unique. Furthermore, the computational needs are moderate as compared to other biometric systems or gesture recognition systems which generally use image processing and 2D/3D pattern recognition. This paper illustrates the development and testing performed for the mentioned intuitive approach which is centrally based on the uniqueness of the characteristics of the human hand. We developed a simple hand-glove mounted with flex sensors to realize the password authentication system with a modest cost of implementation. It can be used for user recognition in Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) or applied in the fields of Body sensor networks (BSN), biometrics, etc. This technique has potential applications as a wearable device with an advantage of being economical simultaneously.

With the advancement of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and cryptographic technologies, remote healthcare services have become more widespread, presenting new challenges for patient privacy and data security. Conventional security mechanisms, such as centralized authentication and key distribution systems, are susceptible to single points of failure and significant management burdens, potentially leading to compromised authentication centers and internal security threats. In response, this study presents a threshold signature algorithm, it uses Distributed Key Generation (DKG) that distributes private keys without the need for a trusted key distributor, requiring the cooperative signature of at least two nodes for authentication. This approach not only circumvents the risk of single points of failure but also enhances the system’s robustness and efficiency. The experimental results validate its prospective utility in safeguarding remote healthcare data.

The accurate detection of tissue density variation in CT/MRI brain datasets can be useful for analysing and monitoring pathologies with slight differences. In fact, the objective knowledge of density distribution can be related to anatomical structures and therefore the process of monitoring illness and its treatment can be improved. In this paper, we present an approach for the classification of tissue density in three dimensional brain tomographic scans. The proposed approach is based on a hierarchical neural network model able to classify the single voxels of the examined datasets. The approach has been evaluated on both normal and pathological cases selected by an expert neuroradiologist as study cases. The results have shown that the method has a good effectiveness in practical applications and that it can be used for designing a full 3D instrument suitable for supporting the analysis of disease diagnosis and follow-up.

In many modern applications such as Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) technology and sensor networks, large uncertain data streams are produced. One of the important techniques in the management of uncertain data streams is effective Top-K query processing, because existing Top-K queries processing does not consider the score and uncertainty of tuples. This paper first analyzes the uncertain data model and possible world semantic model, and then defines new Top-K queries semantics for uncertain data streams, and finally designs and realizes an efficient Top-K queries algorithm on uncertain data streams. This algorithm sorts the score of each tuple in a descending order and selects the k tuples with the highest probabilities to form the set as Top-K queries results. The extensive experiments show that this algorithm, compared to Compact Set Queue(CSQ) and Segmental Compact Set Queue(SCSQ) algorithm, is more practical and efficient.

In the era of digital information, social development requires an increasing demand for various types of sensors, especially flexible electronic sensors, which are capable of sensing external environmental stimuli and transducing to the electrical signals for analysis and processing. The diverse output electrical signals present challenges for the widespread applications, which need to develop a universal wireless monitoring framework to adapt multiple sensors. In this work, we developed a universal wireless multimodal sensor monitor system with measurement accuracy comparable to commercial testing equipment. The system features a modular design to support the collection of multimodal signals with personalized customization and reduced power consumption. The multi-sensor monitor system exhibited broad application prospects in healthcare, prosthetics, robotics, and human-machine interaction.

Almost seventy one percent of the earth is covered with water, making it crucial to human survival. Over the years, monitoring, and discovery of natural resources such as salt, crude oil etc has increased the importance of the oceanic world. With the rapid growth of technology, the discovery and monitoring of natural resources in the water has led to autonomous communication that gives rise to the internet of underwater things. Among the setbacks experienced by the underwater sensor network are sensor nodes mobility and energy constraint as the nodes are powered by limited battery resources which makes it quite difficult to replace or recharge once deployed. Routing is essential for the sensor nodes to exchange information and transmit data from source to destination. To tackle this problem, a routing protocol that is energy conserving is crucially required. Hence, this paper proposes an underwater energy efficient and void avoidance routing protocol named enhanced vector-based forwarding (ENHVBF) which examines the sensor nodes' energy level for successful communication. AQUASIM-NG simulator for NS-3 was used in measuring performance of ENHVBF. Obtained result indicates an increase in performance for ENH-VBF regarding energy consumption and packet delivery ratio when compared with other routing protocols.

The Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) technique has gained significant popularity in creating diverse content. However, the current deployment of AIGC services is a centralized framework, thus leading to high response times. To address this issue, we propose a diffusion-based task scheduling method that considers the integration of the diffusion model, Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) technique to improve the AIGC efficiency. This challenges efficient server selection without prior information in dynamic MEC systems. We formulate our problem as an online integer linear programming problem aiming to minimize task offloading delay. Furthermore, we propose a novel AIGC Task Scheduling (DDRL-ATS) algorithm based on Diffusion DRL (DDRL) that effectively addresses this problem. The DDRL-ATS algorithm achieves efficient AIGC tailored for heterogeneous MEC environments. Additionally, an online Adaptive Multi-server Selection and Allocation (DDRL-AMSA) algorithm based on DDRL is proposed to further enhance the AIGC efficiency. Moreover, our DDRL-AMSA algorithm achieves near-optimal solutions within approximate linear time complexity bounds. Finally, experimental results validate the effectiveness of our method by showcasing at least a reduction of 13.54% in task offloading delay compared to state-of-the-art methods.

We focus on the sensor fusion for vehicle-side and roadside 3D object detection and tracking. Although quite a few sensor fusion algorithms have been proposed, some of which are top-ranked on various leaderboards, a systematic study on how to integrate three crucial sensors (LiDAR, camera and millimeter-wave Radar sensors) to develop effective multi-modal 3D object detection and tracking for vehicle-side perception is still missing. Therefore, we first study the three sensors’ strengths and weaknesses carefully, then compare several different fusion strategies to maximize their utility. Finally, based on the lessons learnt, we propose a simple yet effective multi-modal 3D object detection and tracking framework (namely EZFusion). Without fancy network modules, our proposed EZFusion makes remarkable improvements over the LiDAR-only baseline, and achieves comparable performance. For intelligent transportation, far-range perception with roadside sensors is vital. The main challenge of far-range perception is performing accurate object detection and tracking under far distances (e.g., > 150m) at a low cost. To cope with such challenges, deploying both millimeter wave Radars and high-definition cameras, and fusing their data has become a common practice. Towards this goal, the first question is to conduct the association on the 2D image plane or the BEV plane. We argue that the former is more suitable because the magnitude of location errors in the perspective projection points is smaller at far distances on the 2D plane, leading to more accurate association. Thus, we first project the Radar points to the 2D plane and then associate them with the camera-based 2D object locations. Subsequently, we map the camera-based object locations to the BEV plane through inverse projection mapping (IPM) with the corresponding depth information from the Radar data. With the surge of end devices and intelligent services, computing resource has begun to migrate from the cloud to end devices to meet the growing demand of users, forming a hierarchical resource distribution pattern in cloud-edge-end networks. Existing research work focuses on using edge computing technique to build a cloud-edge collaborative service offloading and task scheduling method to reduce service delay or energy consumption. However, different user groups and application scenarios may have different preferences for service quality requirements even for the same kind of service. For example, video analysis in autonomous driving focuses more on delay while video analysis in surveillance focuses more on accuracy. Meanwhile, heterogeneous cloud-edge-end devices have significant differences in the amount of resources, which poses great challenges for efficient provisioning of services. To solve this problem, we intend to propose multi-view service provisioning method in cloud-edge-end networks with hierarchically distributed resources. Firstly, we design a mapping scheme between service quality and heterogeneous resource occupation to estimate the amount of resources required for a given requirement. Secondly, we utilize model compression methods to customize powerful large models into smaller and lighter one according to the requirements of tasks. Thirdly, as resources are distributed hierarchically in cloud-edge-end networks, efficient service placement should be carried out with the goal of achieving diverse needs. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical simulations compared to state-of-the-art baselines and experiments on an implemented prototype system.
