In the context of Answer Set programming, this paper investigates symmetry-breaking to eliminate symmetric parts of the search space and, thereby, simplify the solution process. We propose a reduction of disjunctive logic programs to a coloured digraph such that permutational symmetries can be constructed from graph automorphisms. Symmetries are then broken by introducing symmetry-breaking constraints. For this purpose, we formulate a preprocessor that integrates a graph automorphism system. Smart Contracts are computer programs which implement and execute transactions and manage business logic on a decentralized public ledger. Smart Contracts can be written in different programming languages and for different Blockchains. Currently the most used language for Smart Contracts is Solidity and the most used platform is the Ethereum Blockchain. Assessing the quality of Smart Contract programs is an important task required to professional programmers, especially when a programming language has so powerful economic implications. It is therefore crucial to provide professional programmers with tools for the evaluation of Smart Contracts. In software engineering, software metrics has been defined and used to measure software quality and, more in general, to qualify software under the principle "You Can't Manage What You Don't Measure". For the Solidity programming language there are only a few Standalone Applications to analyse the Smart Contract metrics. The aim of this paper is first to build a tool for the practical computation of a specific set of Solidity source code metrics, so that the set will be extensible in the future according also to Solidity compiler evolution, second to fully enable a web based usage of the tool to access the metrics of the Solidity programming language. The tool, PASO, differently from the existing application, is able to give software metrics values for Smart Contracts written in Solidity programming language just using a web browser.

In this paper we consider a logical treatment for the ordered disjunction operator × introduced by Brewka, Niemelä and Syrjänen in their logic Programs with Ordered Disjunctions (LPOD). LPODs are used to represent preferences in logic programming under the answer set semantics. Their semantics is defined by first translating the LPOD into a set of normal programs (called split programs) and then imposing a preference relation among the answer sets of these split programs. We concentrate on the first step and show how a suitable translation of the ordered disjunction as a derived operator into the logic of Here-and-There allows capturing the answer sets of the split programs in a direct way. We use this characterisation not only for providing an alternative implementation for LPODs, but also for checking several properties (under strongly equivalent transformations) of the × operator, like for instance, its distributivity with respect to conjunction or regular disjunction. We also make a comparison to an extension proposed by Kärger, Lopes, Olmedilla and Polleres, that combines × with regular disjunction. © 2020 workshop on Answer Set programming and Other Computing Paradigms, ASPOCP 2010. We examine the practicality for a user of using Answer Set programming (ASP) for representing logical formalisms. We choose as an example a formalism aiming at capturing causal explanations from causal information. We provide an implementation, showing the naturalness and relative efficiency of this translation job. We are interested in the ease for writing an ASP program, in accordance with the claimed "declarative" aspect of ASP. Limitations of the earlier systems (poor data structure and difficulty in reusing pieces of programs) made that in practice, the "declarative aspect" was more theoretical than practical. We show how recent improvements in working ASP systems facilitate a lot the translation, even if a few improvements could still be useful. © 2020 workshop on Answer Set programming and Other Computing Paradigms, ASPOCP 2010. PIE is a Prolog-embedded environment for automated reasoning on the basis of first-order logic. Its main focus is on formulas, as constituents of complex formalizations that are structured through formula macros, and as outputs of reasoning tasks such as second-order quantifier elimination and Craig interpolation. It supports a workflow based on documents that intersperse macro definitions, invocations of reasoners, and-formatted natural language text. Starting from various examples, the paper discusses features and application possibilities of PIE along with current limitations and issues for future research. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In spite of the recent improvements in the performance of the solvers based on the DPLL procedure, it is still possible for the search algorithm to focus on the wrong areas of the search space, preventing the solver from returning a solution in an acceptable amount of time. This prospect is a real concern e.g. in an industrial setting, where users typically expect consistent performance. To overcome this problem, we propose a framework that allows learning and using domain-specific heuristics in solvers based on the DPLL procedure. The learning is done off-line, on representative instances from the target domain, and the learned heuristics are then used for choice-point selection. In this paper we focus on Answer Set programming (ASP) solvers. In our experiments, the introduction of domain-specific heuristics improved performance on hard instances by up to 3 orders of magnitude (and 2 on average), nearly completely eliminating the cases in which the solver had to be terminated because the wait for an answer had become unacceptable. © 2020 workshop on Answer Set programming and Other Computing Paradigms, ASPOCP 2010. Composing customized web 3D animations with semantic queries

Creation of customized animated 3D content is an important issue in web-based VR/AR environments that involve users with various requirements for the content, e.g., in education, training, tourism, cultural heritage and e-commerce. 3D content customization is a complex task, as it typically covers various content features such as geometry, structure and appearance. Although a number of tools enable modeling of 3D animations, they do not support on-demand animation customization to users' requirements specified using semantic (application or domain-specific) concepts. Available solutions permit creation of 3D content in its final form, require technical knowledge and skills or are limited to a particular application domain, without possibilities to easily change the target application or domain. In this paper, we present a pipeline for creation of customized animated 3D content on the web. The pipeline uses rule-based representation of 3D content activities, which are composed into more complex animations. Animation composition is performed on-demand, using queries describing requirements in an arbitrary application domain. The use of knowledge representation adapts the approach to the current trends in the evolution of the web, including the semantic web. It enables exploration by reasoning on the content generated with users' queries. Furthermore, it permits inference of tacit properties of animations from explicitly specified properties, thereby liberating the authors from specifying all necessary animation properties. The pipeline leverages an advanced motion capture system, 3D modeling tools and game engines. We have implemented and evaluated a web-based environment for on-demand animation composition. The proposed approach can be successfully used in multiple application areas on the web, in which 3D content components are intensively reconfigured according to requirements of different users.

In this paper we describe a novel approach to programming microcontrollers based on the Arduino platform using Datalog as a clear and concise description language for system behaviors. The application areas of cheap and easily programmable microcontroller platforms, like robotics, home automation, and IoT devices hold mainstream appeal and are often used as motivation in natural science and technology teaching. The choice of programming languages for microcontrollers is severely limited, especially with regard to rule-based declarative languages. We use an approach that is based on the Dedalus language augmented with operations that allow for side-effects and we also take the limited resources of a microcontroller into account. Our compiler and runtime environment allow to run Datalog programs on Arduino-based systems. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Interpolation is an important property of classical and many non classical logics that has been shown to have interesting applications in computer science and AI. Here we study the Interpolation Property for the propositional version of the non-monotonic system of equilibrium logic, establishing weaker or stronger forms of interpolation depending on the precise interpretation of the inference relation. These results also yield a form of interpolation for ground logic programs under the answer sets semantics. For disjunctive logic programs we also study the property of uniform interpolation that is closely related to the concept of variable forgetting. © 2020 workshop on Answer Set programming and Other Computing Paradigms, ASPOCP 2010.
