The growing complexity of modern automated production systems demands solutions for managing alarm floods potentially stemming from multi-root causes, while improving situational awareness of operators to ensure timely fault responses and minimize downtime. For this purpose, knowledge-driven approaches that utilize domain specific knowledge for alarm handling have shown promising results. However, knowledge extraction is expensive, leaving data-driven approaches as an alternative, which in turn requires large amounts of data. To profit from both approaches and alleviate their weaknesses, hybrid approaches have been a focus of recent development. Therefore, this work proposes the Alarm-logic-Directed-Graph for a novel hybrid approach. This graph models the alarm logic inherent in the control code, enabling knowledge-based clustering and sorting of the alarm log, which then serves as input data for a subsequent Bayesian network learning. Moreover, with the integration of physical and heuristic knowledge, the root causes can be further refined to alarm-related component status variables. The evaluation of this work is conducted on the Tennessee-Eastman Process, a well-known continuous process simulation. The results show that the proposed approach remains robust to multi-root cause identification even in the absence of historical alarm log data or process knowledge besides programmable logic controller code. © 2024 IEEE.

Manufacturing of printing inks is the process of creating inks for printing tasks, including labelling, packaging, and commercial printing. In order to achieve a particular colour, printing inks are made up of a mixture of pigments, resins, solvents, and additives. The necessary quantities of the raw materials are mixed, they are ground and milled to the desired particle size, and finally the ink qualities are tested and altered to satisfy particular customer requirements. Printing inks come in varieties, including water-based, solvent based, UV-curable, and digital inks. In conventional method, manual processing of mixing is performed. Some drawbacks are consuming time, costly, causing some health-related problems and frequently produces inconsistently high-quality products. The main objective of this project is mixing the chemicals with the use of programmable logic controller is intended to automate mixing of two distinct liquids in a predetermined proportion, decrease human involvement, and increase productivity. The objective of the suggested system uses automation in the process of mixing, to reduce timing, minimize labour cost and to avoid unnecessary health problems. © 2023 IEEE.

Complex control algorithm for indirect matrix converter (IMC) needs powerful processors such as digital signal processors (DSPs) with complex programmable logic device (CPLD) or field programmable gate array (FPGA). The additional hardware circuitry increases cost and decreases reliability of the system. In this paper an implementation of space vector modulation (SVM) is realized for the IMC based on single 16-bit microcontroller only. Elimination of additional circuit increases the reliability of the IMC as control circuit becomes compact. Moreover, for low power applications cost of system gets significantly reduced. The realization of IMC is based on PWM module, timer register and interrupts routine of microcontroller. The burden on CPU is reduced in such realization so that processor can perform complex logic algorithms. The experimental results for IMC feeding power to RL-load prove practical validity of proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the design and FPGA implementation of an efficient 4×4 squarer circuit using reversible logic. The proposed architecture is developed using the hardware description language Verilog and synthesized with Xilinx Vivado and Xilinx ISE 14.7 tools. The FPGA implementation of proposed design has been done on Artix 7 (NexysA7). The main improvements in this work include a significant reduction in garbage output, quantum cost, and total reversible logic implementation cost (TRLIC) compared to existing designs. Notably, the proposed architecture achieves quantum cost and TRLIC reductions of 84.34% and 82.10%, respectively. The circuit also demonstrates a remarkably low delay of 1.076 ns, making it suitable for high-speed applications. © 2024 IEEE.

SOPC(System-on-a-programmable-Chip) is a System-on-Chip solution based on FPGA (Field-programmable Gate Array). SOPC integrates various digital logic modules such as microprocessors, controllers, memory, and IO interfaces onto a single FPGA chip. Leveraging the programmable nature of FPGA chips, SOPC achieves programmability of the entire system. High-power laser aging, also known as laser reliability testing, involves assessing the longevity of a laser through continuous monitoring of parameters such as optical power, operating current, operating voltage, surface temperature, etc., under constant current conditions over a specified duration. This process helps to determine whether the laser meets specified longevity standards. This paper presents a data acquisition card SOPC system utilizing domestically manufactured FPGA as the main control chip. This system is capable of controlling and organizing raw data collected from lasers, performing calculations, and then transmitting processed data to a host computer. It features coordinated operation between software and hardware, fast processing speed, and high reliability. © 2024 SPIE.

In response to the welding requirements of aluminum alloy core components, an automated Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding system has been devised to address issues related to low efficiency, inconsistent welding quality, and workplace safety concerns associated with manual welding. This system seamlessly integrates various technologies, including industrial robotics, visual recognition, programmable logic controller (PLC), and motor drive. It also introduces an innovative welding fixture and positioning device based on the intrinsic structure of aluminum alloy core components. To facilitate the robotic handling of various component shapes and eliminate the need for manual robot tool changes, a multifunctional manipulator has been designed, thereby reducing equipment complexity. Simultaneously, a control system has been developed by incorporating an industrial Ethernet-based communication network centered around the S7-1200 PLC, enabling full automation of the welding process for aluminum alloy core components. © 2024 ACM.

Configurable logic block (CLB) is the fundamental unit of Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. This paper aims to design a CLB using pass transistor logic (PTL). The implemented Boolean function is F=A.(B+C). The number of inputs in our proposed CLB can be increased as per the requirement. The design consists of a 3:1 LUT (Look Up Table), D flip-flop and multiplexers. Cadence Virtuoso has been used for design and simulation purpose. The design has been executed using 45 nm process technology and the functionality of each of the units has been tested. Various performance parameters such as active energy, leakage energy, maximum operating frequency etc. have been measured to be 6.205 fJ,1.109 fJ and 50 MHz. The minimum propagation delay (238.8 ps) and the maximum power efficiency (0.31025 nW) have been obtained by Virtuoso Wave calculator. Finally, the optimized physical layout is obtained, which renders minimum area of 797.385 μm2, resulting in highly compact integration of transistors. © 2023 IEEE.

The flexible valve control system is an important device that connects the control and protection device of the converter station and the power module. It is responsible for receiving commands issued by the control and protection device, issuing control commands to the power module, and receiving signals returned by the power module. During the debugging process of the flexible valve control device at Luxi Station, a trip event occurred due to a dual slave signal. This article analyzes the cause of the dual slave fault trip and proposes a improved dual slave fault judgment and export logic based on the timing and dual slave fault logic during the trip process. This logic has been applied on-site at Luxi Station and the valve control device is operating well, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. © 2023 IEEE.

Demand Side Management (DSM), which regulates consumer energy usage to lower peak demand and boost system reliability, is a crucial component of contemporary power systems. This study suggests a novel method for programming. The proposed control device for DSM implementation employs programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The proposed system includes a central control unit that communicates with multiple smart meters installed in households and commercial buildings via PLCs. The control unit collects real-time data on energy consumption and uses it to manage the demand in a coordinated and efficient manner. The design and implementation of the proposed DSM system using PLCs. Also, this study discusses about the hardware and software components used in the proposed system, including the PLCs, communication protocol, and user interface. Further, this study describes the control algorithms that are used to manage the demand and its implementation using ladder logic programming. Finally, this study shows the findings from simulations and experimental tests performed to assess the efficiency and dependability of the suggested DSM system. Customers can also monitor their energy use with the system's user interface, and they can change their usage habits in reaction to demand signals. The proposed system provides accurate and timely control of energy consumption and allows consumers to adjust their energy usage in response to changing demand signals. The system is also easy to implement and can be easily scaled to meet the needs of large power distribution networks. The suggested DSM, in general PLCs have the potential to increase the effectiveness and dependability of any system while benefiting both utilities and consumers. © 2023 IEEE.
