A wireless ECG system using dry-contact electrodes is presented. the system consists of a pair of coin sized dry-contact electrodes manufactured on a standard printed circuit board that can operate both on top of the skin and through clothing and can be embedded within comfortable layers of fabric. the wireless main unit assures the transmission of the ECG signal to a computer for storage and processing. the system provides a differential gain of 56dB over a 1-150Hz bandwidth. signals are digitized with a 10-bit ADC and samples are transferred via ultra-low power ANT+ wireless technology. the preliminary results showed that the proposed wearable system is ideally suited for monitoring patient cardiac activity in real time at home, healthcare or sports facilities. It is highly suitable for integration in wearable ECG chest harness.

Temperature measurement system is widely used in industrial monitoring, process control, intelligent home appliances and other fields. the traditional temperature detection method is to use the analog sensor, such as thermocouple or thermal resistance. this traditional temperature measurement system includes signal sampling circuit, amplifying circuit and A/D conversion circuit, which finally obtain the temperature digital signal. this kind of complex circuit leads to the weak anti-interference ability, which affects the reliability of the system. In this paper, a new design of digital temperature measurement system using digital temperature sensor AD7417 was presented. the sensor is connected to a central processing unit (CPU) via digital bus and the temperature value is displayed by LED. Practical application shows that the temperature measurement system is stable and reliable with strong anti-interference ability. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

For Pt100 platinum resistance temperature measurement system has low accuracy, duplicate hardware circuit design and other issues, the articles design a high-precision temperature measurement system with Pt100 platinum resistance. With Pt100 temperature sensor, article takes STM32F103 as the control center through filtering, amplification and other signal conditioning circuit and a method of combining software look-up table to compensate the nonlinear compensation, thus achieving high-precision temperature measurement. Research results show that the system has a measurement accuracy high stability, scalability, and other characteristics. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Assistive technology has not yet reached an acceptable level of success in addressing the needs of the elderly to navigate safely, comfortably, gracefully, and independently. this paper discussing on the development of microcontroller based wireless obstacle detection system for the elderly, which attached at shoes to facilitate safe navigation and mobility of the elderly. Microcontroller and a wireless module are a key component in the processing and transmission of data. Buzzer, vibrator and speech synthesizer are used as alerting signal when the obstacle is detected by the system. Working principle of the system is based on two main functions: sensing the environment and also detect obstacles through IR sensor and the US sensor and provide an alert to the user during walking when the obstacle is detected. Both microcontrollers at the transmitter and receiver units have been programmed through MP Lab software packages with the intelligent control algorithm to meet the user's requirements. this system can identify obstacle's distance within the detection range at more than 95% of accuracy. the proposed system make the users feel comfortable to walk seamlessly without imposing upon them any physical or cognitive load.

For the question of surface density controlled by manual measurement in production process and low quality and inefficiency, we designed the on-line monitoring and control system based on capacitive sensor. the principle is capacitive sensor can convert the surface density variation to the capacitance variation, after operational amplifier, rectifier circuit and filter circuit we can get the voltage signal related to surface density of lithium battery pole piece. the voltage signal through the AID input module into the PLC for data processing, according to the results we can adjust the coat blade degree real-time. this will achieve the purpose of surface density uniformity. Using this system to replace traditional methods, the lithium battery pole piece surface density can be measured in intelligent, controlled in real-time and non-contact mode with high precision. And this system can improve the quality of lithium battery and the production efficiency, also with great reliability and feasibility.

At present, sub-micro-Newton (sub-μN) micro-force in micro-assembly and micro-manipulation is not able to be measured reliably. the piezoelectric micro-force sensors offer a lot of advantages for MEMS applications such as low power dissipation, high sensitivity, and easily integrated with piezoelectric micro-actuators. In spite of many advantages above, the research efforts are relatively limited compared to piezoresistive micro-force sensors. In this paper, Sensitive component is polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and the research object is micro-force sensor based on PVDF film. Moreover, the model of micro-force and sensor's output voltage is built up, signal processing circuit is designed, and a novel calibration method of micro-force sensor is designed to reliably measure force in the range of sub-μN. the experimental results show the PVDF sensor is designed in this paper with sub-μN resolution. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Various WSN applications use hierarchical routing protocol for routing sensed data to the sink. LEACH is one of the widely used hierarchical, distributed clustering protocol in WSN. In LEACH, Non-Cluster head Nodes decide to join a cluster head based on Received signal Strength (RSS) of receiving HELLO packets from CHs making it vulnerable to HELLO Flood attack. A laptop-class adversary node can broadcast packets advertising it as cluster head with higher signal strength, all sensor nodes will select it as cluster head and send join packet into it, thinking that the adversary is in their range and thus, the whole network will be in a state of confusion. Existing solutions for detection of HELLO flood attack are either cryptographic which are less suitable in terms of memory and battery power, or non-cryptographic which involves sending the test packet for detection. this increases communication overhead as the energy required for transmission of the packet is far more than the energy required for processing/calculation. Based on these facts, a non-cryptographic solution for HELLO flood attack detection is proposed in this paper in which the no. of times the test packet is transmitted is greatly reduced. the simulation results showed detection of adversary nodes with minimal communication overhead as the number of test packets sent for detection is reduced from 20-35 to 10-14 (approx.).

Precision Agriculture is an important direction of modern agriculture development, its main thought of technology is that we can acquire differences and space distribution through getting crops growth environment factors and growth conditions of ideal growing environment in time. We can analyze the reasons of the difference of crop yields and take effective control measures quickly. So this article designed a multi-parameter wireless monitoring system based on STM32F107 chip. the purpose was to monitor the parameters of the current crop growth environment. the hardware part of monitoring system was mainly divided into the optical path and electric circuit. the optical path structure refered to the system optical path part when using the test of soil organic matter content of the center wavelength of 850 nm near infrared light-emitting diode (led), the incident and reflected light transmitting fiber and photoelectric diode. Circuit part mainly transmitted various environmental parameters of the signal to the minimum system for data processing and transmitted the data to PC for display and storage through the wireless communication mode. Experiment proved that this system could completely meet the daily precision agriculture for crop growth environment and the requirements of monitoring on the soil composition content, and the system had high reliability, the function was easy to extend.

Rate control is one of the key techniques in wireless multimedia sensor networks. this paper proposes an algorithm to enhance the performance of the rate control. In line with the difference between actual number of bits and expected ones of the last frame and difference between actual bit-rate and target bit-rate of encoded frames, we adjust the quantization parameter (QP). Simulations show the output real bit-rate is closer to the target one than the current bit-rate control algorithms without losing peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR).

the performance of a fuel injector greatly influences the performance of a vehicle engine. An effective monitoring system is capable of detecting damage, instability, and even the life of fuel injector. In this study, a test rig on fuel injector using piezoelectric film sensor has been developed. three parameters, namely, pulse width at 5, 10, and 15 ms;frequency at 17, 20, and 25 Hz;and pressure at 10, 50, and 70 bar were used for observation. these parameters were set at different combinations to obtain the different injection patterns of the fuel injector. Statistical methods were used to analyze the data, with the aid of the Matlab software. the injection pattern was described using a new I-kaz (Z(infinity)) statistical parameter, which is intended to provide a simple explanation of the corresponding correlations between the coefficient of I-kaz and the statistical parameters, such as root mean square, Skewness, and Kurtosis, to obtain effective information on the operation state of the fuel injector. the results showed that higher pulse width results in a higher I-kaz coefficient, which also increases with an increase in frequency and varies with pressure;however, the pattern depends on the pulse width. the I-kaz scatter graph against skewness showed a clear pattern among the statistical parameters. the corresponding correlation was useful for monitoring the fuel injector and can be used as a reference for future studies.
