In the context of designing of customized products, ensuring the verification of requirements and stakeholder needs in an efficient and cost-effective manner poses significant challenges. this paper proposes a Virtual Prototyping approach, integrating Computer-Aided design and multibody modelling, to leverage their respective advantages. the presented case study involves the integration of two pre-existing robots, a cobot and an Autonomous Mobile Robot, to realize an Autonomous Mobile Cobot tailored to the specific needs of a manufacturing industry. through Virtual Prototyping approach, part of the requirements, including spatial and assembly constraint, are verified by means of CAD, while interaction and behavioural requirements are verified through multibody modelling and simulation. this work highlights the efficacy of Virtual Prototyping in achieving comprehensive design verification for tailored products. By simulating the behaviour and performance of the designed system before physical implementation, Virtual Prototyping reduces the time and costs associated with traditional trial-and-error methods. Moreover, it enables a more thorough exploration of design alternatives and optimization strategies, ultimately improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process. this integrated approach showcases the potential of digital tools to enhance the development of complex industrial systems, paving the way for tailored solutions to meet evolving market demands.

Efficient Laundry machine control systems are essential for modern appliances. In this study, we explored the use of Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL) to improve laundry machine control systems. Our study, which is based on a finite state machine (FSM) model, attempts to improve laundry cycles and user interactions. Unlike traditional laundry machines with limited controls and fixed timers, our design introduces multiple laundry modes tailored to different fabric types, each with specific timers for user customization. Our design highlights the integration of load sensors to detect laundry weight, assisting users in selecting appropriate modes and preventing operation if the load exceeds a set threshold. A temperature sensor ensures the water temperature is maintained as per user input, optimizing cleaning efficiency and energy use. Additionally, the design includes a safety feature allowing users to pause the laundry process by opening the lid to add extra load at any stage, ensuring user safety. the smart functionality of our laundry machine is driven by its adaptable modes with dedicated timers, enhanced safety mechanisms, and sustainability features through sensor integration. these advancements collectively contribute to a more intelligent, user-friendly, and energy-efficient laundry machine design. © 2024 IEEE.

Self-aligned double patterning (SADP) is extensively utilized in advanced sub-20nm technology nodes. the DRAM digit contact SADP dry etch process experienced severe yield loss due to pinhole defects in the periphery. the root cause was identified through etching characteristics analysis to be the micro-loading effect between the dense/isolated areas and non-uniform etching from center-to-edge of the wafer. Using the design of experiment model, a new recipe has been developed to eliminate pinhole defects by optimizing bias pulsing and pressure. this approach has led to a 50% improvement in etching uniformity and better etching selectivity. the proposed recipe has effectively eliminated pinhole formation, significant improving pinholerelated yield loss from 0.3%-50% to zero.

the human-centered view emphasizes various aspects including usability, acceptance, and understandability, as they emerge in the interaction between humans and intelligent systems. For intelligent assistance systems to provide long- term added value in working environments, it is of major importance to develop a positive user experience. However, a positive user experience does not appear by itself but must be systematically investigated and designed. In this paper, we focus on the role of operator 5.0 in manufacturing and provide an overview of the main challenges and potentials related to working with intelligent systems. Drawing upon state-of-the-art literature and findings from industry (context and expert interviews and user experience workshops), this paper investigates the main discontinuous production processes (i.e., process monitoring, process optimization, process maintenance) that will undergo a series of changes due to integration of cutting-edge technologies (such as Digital Twins, Extended Reality, and Artificial Intelligence). It then identifies requirements and discusses key challenges for the realization of human-centered assistance systems. By highlighting underexplored research questions and potential improvements in industrial settings, this paper provides researchers and practitioners to establish a holistic understanding of the user experience along the industry 5.0 journey (c) 2023 the Authors. this paper gives a complete review of the use of Deep Learning (DL) and Machine Learning (ML) approaches in the area of antenna design for radar data processing. It analyzes the potential of DL and ML to overcome the constraints of conventional antenna design methodologies, especially in the face of complicated environmental variables and the necessity for interference reduction. By employing sophisticated computational techniques, the research reveals how these AI-based approaches may considerably boost the design and performance optimization of radar antennas. the integration of neural networks, convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and reinforcement learning into the design process offers promise for constructing adaptable and efficient radar systems. Empirical findings from the research illustrate the durability of ML models, notably Support Vector Machines (SVMs), in forecasting antenna performance, stressing its resilience even in high-noise environments. this investigation's results are crucial for the progress of intelligent radar systems and lay the way for future improvements in the industry. © 2024 IEEE.

In light of the accelerated growth of e-commerce, the generation of high-quality and efficient content has emerged as a pivotal factor in enhancing user experience and business value. However, conventional methods of content creation are prone to inefficiencies and creative constraints. this paper puts forth a comprehensive model based on the combination of existing generative pre-trained models and human-computer interaction design, with the objective of enhancing the efficiency and quality of e-commerce content generation. In particular, the initial stage of the process involves the utilisation of multi-modal data fusion technology, which facilitates the integration of diverse input sources, including images, videos, and textual data. this approach enhances the model's capacity to comprehend the multifaceted nature of products and services, thereby optimising the generation process. Secondly, a cross-domain sentiment analysis and recommendation engine was designed, which combined the self-attention mechanism in deep learning with the objective of analysing the popularity of the generated content according to consumer behaviour in real time and adjusting the generation strategy. Furthermore, the real-time feedback loop mechanism has been innovatively introduced, which enables the dynamic optimisation of content generation in accordance with user evaluation and click-through rate. this facilitates an improvement in the personalisation and accuracy of content. the experimental results demonstrate that the model markedly enhances the efficiency of content generation and user satisfaction on the e-commerce platform. © 2024 IEEE.

the safety of aircraft cabin materials is related to the safety of passengers and aircraft. With the development of science and technology, the types of materials are becoming more and more abundant, with frequent applications in the aircraft cabin, cargo compartment, and other locations. A large number of these materials improve the economic comfort of the aircraft. When a fire occurs, the performance of the materials involved can significantly influence the fire's progression, which in turn affects the safety of passengers and the aircraft. Additionally, it can impact emergency evacuation procedures. To enhance safety in aircraft research, development, and manufacturing, it is essential to understand the flame-retardant properties of materials used in aircraft. Scientific methods must be employed to verify the fireproofing capabilities of these materials, and data-driven evaluations should assess their flame-retardant properties. this is crucial to ensure the safety of passengers and the aircraft itself. In the event of a fire, effective materials can slow the spread of flames, allowing passengers to evacuate promptly and increasing their chances of survival. By analyzing the cabin material fire test verification method and airworthiness requirements, the aircraft cabin material fire requirements are outlined to provide guidelines for the commercial aircraft cabin material fire verification work, to guide the aircraft design process of cabin material selection, and to accelerate the pace of airworthiness certification. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

[Context] Within the framework of PLM;Circular Economy (CE) is an important concept that seeks to design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use and regenerate natural systems. Early design Stages (EDS) are crucial because they set the foundation for the rest of the production process and can determine the product's overall functionality, usability, and manufacturing processes. [Problem] As companies increasingly recognize the benefits of transitioning to a circular economy, there is a growing need for tools and methodologies to support the design of circular products and services. [Proposal] this paper presents a CE card deck as a novel approach to facilitate the early stages of product development. the deck consists of 10 cards based on Morseletto's "Targets for a circular economy" work that represents mainstream circular economy principles and strategies and can be used by designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to generate ideas, evaluate options, and make informed decisions. the results of a pilot study with design and engineering students (Master level) suggest that the card deck can support the exploration of CE concepts and facilitate the identification of circular solutions, in a design by AM context (DbAM). the paper concludes with a discussion of the potential benefits and limitations of the card deck approach, and its integration into a PLM framework, and gives suggestions for future research.

In Industry 4.0, companies must focus on human-centred design for a competitive edge. the 4USER project aims to establish a user-centred design method using an interactive Photorealistic Virtual Prototype (PVP) based on Extended Reality (XR) technology, objectifying customer requirements into technical specifications. the PVP overcomes limitations associated with traditional physical prototypes, serving as a quality benchmark for final products. the research focuses on a case study involving the development of sports rifles, emphasising the importance of aesthetic quality. the proposed semi-automatic process in Blender enables the generation of low-poly PVPs, incorporating hyper-realistic textures and high-frequency details. In particular, the overall process is composed of the following steps: i) wooden texture generation via the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network (WGAN);ii) model creation based on a low poly "Shrinkwrap Cage";iii) integration of generated textures into the UV-mapped model. this approach accelerates the product development cycle, reduces costs, and facilitates efficient quality control. Microgrids are progressively emerging as a solution to the global energy crisis. Although their adoption is increasing, there are still challenges to the design and resilience of these systems. In this paper, a systematic approach is presented for designing a microgrid system for rural areas. the approach provides a logical process for designing an optimal microgrid using load analysis and estimation of available renewable energy resources. the results based on the systematic approach show that adapting the system to the specific energy needs and available resources increases the system's performance. © 2024 IEEE.
